Chapter 478 - 439: Murder Island and the Mariana Trench
Chapter 478 - 439: Murder Island and the Mariana Trench
To Zhao Rong’s surprise, he discovered they were in the Mariana Trench.
His heart racing, he exclaimed to the others, "Holy shit! No way... we’ve actually been sucked into the Mariana Trench..."
When the assistant heard where they were, he said in disbelief, "The Mariana Trench? Isn’t that in the Pacific Ocean? But we should be in the Indian Ocean right now..."
Lili also peered through the escape sphere at the various deep-sea creatures she had never seen before. "Good heavens," she said in terror. "The Mariana Trench is the deepest trench on Earth! There are so many unknown creatures here... I hope we don’t run into any fearsome sea monsters..."
Not far off, Xue Lianmei spotted a dark, octopus-like object approaching their escape sphere. She pointed at it and said to Zhao Rong, "Brother Zhao Rong, quick, look! What is that black thing? It couldn’t be a deep-sea monster, could it?"
But before Xue Lianmei could finish her sentence, the massive deep-sea monster was already upon them. Before anyone could even register what the enormous black creature was, it shot out eight tentacles, grabbed the escape sphere, and swallowed them whole.
Inside the escape sphere, Zhao Rong and his group experienced an unforgettable journey. They were pulled through the monster’s mouth, down its throat and esophagus, and finally deposited into its stomach. The inside of the stomach was disgusting, filled not only with the remains of various marine animals but also with the skeletons of land creatures like pigs, cows, horses, and sheep.
Peering through the sphere, Zhao Rong saw the bones of pigs, horses, and other livestock. "This monster must be able to go on land," he said in disbelief. "How else would it eat such large animals?"
Yu Lan spotted the skeleton of a camel. "Brother Zhao, look! A camel’s bones... It seems this monster doesn’t just stick to the sea and islands. It must go deep into the desert to have eaten a camel..."
Lili then saw the skeleton of a large ape. "My god!" she cried in horror. "Why are there ape bones in here? Don’t tell me it went into the Amazon rainforest to hunt apes?"
Xue Lianmei, meanwhile, spotted the remains of a golden snub-nosed monkey. She gasped in surprise, "Golden snub-nosed monkeys are unique to our country! Could this monster have gone into the southern forests of our homeland to eat them? That’s incredible..."
While the others were identifying animal remains, Zhao Rong suddenly spotted a huge number of human skeletons and skulls. He quickly brightened the escape sphere’s lights. Staring at the thousands of skulls, he said in disbelief, "My god... this thing eats people too. Look, its stomach is filled with thousands of human skeletons and skulls..."
Just as Zhao Rong was wondering where the monster could have eaten so many people, the group felt the escape sphere begin to move again. It passed from the stomach into the monster’s intestines and was then promptly excreted back into the sea.
Once they were back in the ocean, the escape sphere’s powerful buoyancy sent them rocketing upward. Zhao Rong felt like he was on a thrilling roller coaster. In no time at all, the sphere broke the surface of the water. Seeing the sunlight again, everyone cheered with excitement.
The assistant was sobbing with relief. "I thought we were done for, that we’d be lost at sea forever. I can’t believe we got a second chance at life." He turned to Zhao Rong and said, "Brother Zhao Rong, thank you for buying this escape sphere so quickly. If you hadn’t, we would have drowned or been eaten by that monster for sure."
Basking in the warm sunlight, Lili said gratefully, "Brother Zhao Rong, you’re an amazing shopper. This escape sphere didn’t just save us from the shipwreck and from dying in the deep sea. Thanks to its lubrication system, it even let us slide right through that monster’s stomach and intestines before coming out the other end!"
Yu Lan marveled at the sphere’s buoyancy. "Big Brother, this escape sphere you bought was perfect for us. The space was just right, and the buoyancy was incredible. In a single moment, it took us from the bottom of the deep sea right to the surface. We can see hope, breathe fresh air, and enjoy the sun again..."
Xue Lianmei was most impressed by the breathing apparatus. She thanked Zhao Rong, saying, "Brother Zhao Rong, this escape sphere you bought... it might look like a simple plastic ball, but it has controls and an oxygen supply system. For all five of us in this small space, the air was not only sufficient but also incredibly fresh. It felt amazing."
The assistant felt the best feature was its transparency, which allowed them to see outside and kept them from panicking. "Brother Zhao Rong," he said, "thank you for saving me. If there’s a next life, I’ll be your servant, cook your meals, wash your clothes, and even bear your children to continue your family line!"
Cold sweat beaded on Zhao Rong’s forehead. He immediately shot down the offer, saying, "Assistant, please, spare me. Even if you were reborn as a woman, I wouldn’t be interested. You’re just too ugly. My tastes aren’t *that* extreme."
As Zhao Rong was talking with the others, their escape sphere suddenly ran aground on a landmass, coming to a halt. He looked up and exclaimed in surprise, "Good grief, no way! We’ve unknowingly drifted onto a small island..."
The assistant looked at the mysterious island and noticed smoke rising from it.
Meanwhile, the three women pointed at the island in shock. One of them said to Zhao Rong, "Brother Zhao Rong, why does this island look so familiar? It looks just like that so-called ’Murder Island’ we saw from the ship earlier..."
