Chapter 487:Attacked

After the Star Dust Essence was sold, the auction continued with several other high-value items. The next major item presented was a Potential Breaking Potion of SSS rank.

The moment it was introduced, many people in the hall became visibly interested. Low voices spread as bidders prepared themselves, and a few even leaned forward eagerly.

However, Ethan showed no interest at all.

He glanced at it once and then looked away. Such a thing might attract others, but it was not something he needed at the moment. His expression remained calm, and he did not even consider placing a bid.

Soon after that, a set of weapons was brought onto the stage. These weapons were well-crafted and carried strong magical fluctuations. Ethan observed them carefully this time, his gaze slightly more focused. After a brief moment of thought, he decided to act.

The bidding for the weapon set started and quickly rose, but without much competition at the higher levels. Ethan joined at the right moment and placed his bid steadily. In the end, he secured the entire set for four hundred million gold coins.

Rathlos glanced at him briefly but did not say anything. He understood that Ethan was preparing for future needs, and these weapons could be useful for their forces.

Finally, the last highlight item of the auction was presented.

A top-quality Mythic-level sword named Rose Halo.

The moment it appeared, the entire hall became quiet again. The sword was placed carefully on the display stand, and its faint glow reflected across the stage. A powerful aura surrounded it, and even from a distance, one could feel its sharpness.

The importance of a weapon needed no explanation.

An excellent and well-matched weapon could greatly enhance one's combat strength instantly. For many warriors, such a sword could determine life or death in battle.

However, this time, no one interfered with Ethan.

After the earlier events, most people had already chosen to avoid clashing with him. The bidding process went smoothly, and Ethan secured the sword without much resistance.

With that, the auction finally came to an end.

After the event, the auction house quickly arranged for the delivery of all the items Ethan had won. Staff members handled everything efficiently, and the items were brought to him without delay.

Ethan handed over the gold coin cheque issued by the Empire to settle the payment. The process was smooth, and no one raised any issues.

The moment everything was completed, Ethan did not linger.

He grabbed Rathlos by the shoulder.

"Let's go."

Without wasting a second, the two of them left the auction house. They moved quickly through the streets of the city, their pace fast and direct. Neither of them wanted to stay in this place any longer.

Soon, they exited the city and began traveling away from Margrave.

As they moved along the road, Ethan's thoughts drifted back to the events that had taken place during the auction. The strange bidding, the hidden opponent, and the sudden disappearance. None of it felt normal.

However, Ethan, who was eager to return home, did not notice something important.

There was a 'rat' quietly following him.

A middle-aged Mythic mage moved silently through the shadows behind them. He was dressed in dark robes and held a high-level elemental staff in his hand. His presence was completely concealed using a special spatial concealment magic, making him almost impossible to detect.

He watched Ethan from a distance, his eyes cold and calculating.

It was obvious that he had ulterior motives.

"I see… so this is the kid who has been causing a mess," the man muttered quietly, his voice low and filled with disdain.

"Flying so high just because you reached the Legendary level at young age."

A faint, twisted grin slowly spread across his lips.

"Today this old man is going to rip you into pieces… kekek…"

His laughter was soft, but it carried a chilling intent.

And all this time, Ethan remained unaware that danger was already closing in from behind.

The road stretched quietly ahead of them as Ethan and Rathlos continued their journey away from the city. The surroundings had grown calmer, with fewer travelers and long stretches of open land broken only by patches of forest and uneven terrain. The wind moved steadily across the plains and carried a faint chill with it, brushing against their clothes as they rode forward at a steady pace.

Ethan rode ahead while Rathlos followed closely behind, both maintaining their speed and awareness. For a while, nothing seemed out of place, and the journey felt almost peaceful.

Then something shifted.

A faint distortion appeared in the air behind them. It was so subtle that most people would have missed it entirely. The Mythic mage raised his staff slowly, his eyes locked onto Ethan's back. A dark glow gathered at the tip of the staff while layers of compressed mana formed silently.

"Void Pierce."

The spell was released instantly.

A thin and almost invisible spike of condensed energy shot forward at terrifying speed. It cut through the air without a sound and aimed directly at Ethan's heart.

But just as it reached,Ethan's eyes suddenly narrowed.

His body moved instinctively.

SWOOSH!

He tilted slightly to the side, and the invisible spike brushed past his shoulder. It tore through his cloak and left a faint line of blood on his skin.

BOOM!

The attack struck the ground ahead and exploded violently, leaving behind a deep crater.

Rathlos reacted instantly and turned around sharply. "Ambush!" he shouted as his aura flared outward. His eyes scanned the empty space behind them.

Ethan slowly straightened his posture while his expression turned cold. "…So it finally came," he muttered.

The air twisted again.

The mage stepped out of concealment, his figure becoming visible. His robe fluttered slightly while his staff pulsed with dangerous energy. A faint and twisted smile rested on his face.

"You reacted faster than I expected," he said calmly. "But that doesn't change anything."

Rathlos narrowed his eyes. "My lord… Mythic rank."

Ethan nodded slightly. "I know."

The mage raised his staff again. "Let's see how long you can struggle."

The next moment, the sky darkened slightly. Multiple magic circles appeared around him, layered and rotating with complex patterns.

"Elemental Collapse."

Flames, lightning, and compressed wind gathered together and rushed forward in a chaotic storm of destruction.

BOOOOM!

The attacks tore through the ground as they surged toward Ethan and Rathlos.

Ethan stepped forward and his aura surged instantly. A golden light erupted around his body as his presence expanded outward. He raised his hand slightly. "Break."

The incoming attacks collided with his aura and shattered, but the force still pushed him back slightly as dust and debris scattered around.
