Chapter 622 - 614: It’s Hard to Please a Proud Man (Part 1)

"Daddy will stay with you." The little girl’s small hands tightly clutched Ji Chicheng’s clothes.

As if she feared he might disappear any moment.

Ji Chicheng nodded with empathy, "Okay, Daddy will stay."

The little girl lay down in the bed and quickly fell asleep in Ji Chicheng’s arms, but her hands still clung to his clothes.

Ji Chicheng did not move; his gaze deeply fixed on Fenfen’s small face, he noticed that the toddler Fenfen and six-year-old Anning looked strikingly similar.

Especially when they felt insecure, their little hands were always particularly strong.

Tightly grasping his heart.

...

Anning took a taxi around many places, only to find that after living in Hai City for over ten years, she didn’t have a single place to shelter from the storm.

Previously, whenever she felt upset, Danning would always drive her to the seaside park not far from the Ji Family home to enjoy the breeze, where Danning would constantly drone on about Lin Yanqin and her daughters.

Back then, Danning was blunt but truly kind to her, always trying to cheer her up.

Now things had drastically changed.

This had been her own choice when she had to choose between love and friendship and chose love, forsaking friendship.

But she had no regrets; she thought everyone was selfish when it came to love, and from now on, she would rather be a bit selfish towards others than have others be selfish towards her.

After spending a couple of hours in the cold seaside wind, Anning found a guesthouse nearby and settled in.

She had gone to sleep at around three or four in the morning, not sure how long she slept, but when she woke up, the sun was already high up.

She got out of bed, walked to the window, and pulled open the curtains, greeted by the boundless sea which immediately broadened her horizon.

Her mood also greatly improved, and she raised her arms, stretching lazily.

As her gaze drew closer, she saw people fishing along the park coast and many children playing; she immediately thought of Fenfen.

She turned around, rummaged through her bag for her mobile phone, and dialed Ji Chicheng’s number.

But no one answered; she called several times to the same avail.

"Tch, stingy."

Anning pouted and muttered, then stopped calling.

Still wearing yesterday’s clothes, a military green coat, and a face mask, she entered the park where groups of children were being supervised by elderly people, laughing and frolicking.

Some were about the same age as Fenfen, dressed in bright, colorful attire.

Anning sat on the seaside railing, watching the group of little ones. Their eyes were as clear and bright as Fenfen’s, but they ran so stably.

When would her Fenfen be able to do the same?

Thinking of Fenfen’s eyes, Anning’s thoughts grew melancholic, and her expression slightly vacant.

"Brother Lei, pass the ball to us."

"Come and get it."

Anning only knew the noise around her continued; she wasn’t really paying attention.

Suddenly, something rolled in front of her, stopped by her toes. This interruption brought her out of her reverie; she looked down to see it was a football.

Just as she was about to look up to search for the owner of the football, a tender voice suddenly called out from her direction: "Sister, could you please pass the ball back to us?"

Anning looked up and saw a group of three or five kids standing six or seven meters away, pairs of eyes watching her.

There was also a tall figure among them; she glanced at him and was about to kick the ball when she looked up again, her eyes lingering on the man standing among the children.
