Chapter 619 - 611: Drawing the Sword Against Birth Mother (Part 1)

Ignoring Lin Yanqin, Ji Anning turned around and, with heavy steps, walked out of the front door and down the stairs.

Chicheng lifted his foot to follow behind her, his eyes narrowed in suspicion as he stared at her retreating figure, "Ji Anning?"

"Uncle, stop following me. I need some peace," Anning said without facing Chicheng, then she walked to the side, leaned against a Roman column, slowly crouched down, and hugged her knees, "I’ll wait for Fenfen here."

She didn’t want to be at the Ji Family’s, didn’t want to enter the Ji Family’s door; she was not one of the Ji Family.

She wasn’t.

Anning’s gaze was fixed on the high courtyard wall and the towering iron gate. Now, more than ever, she wanted to break free from this place.

She wished to have no connection to it at all.

She longed to meet her beloved Chicheng as a stranger.

The cool breeze, coming in waves, messed her long hair, her nose and eyes were red, unclear if it was caused by the wind or her emotions.

...

It gradually got dark, and the old master had not returned.

Anning still sat on the step, Chicheng approached, and without a word, bent down to grab her wrist and pulled her to her feet.

Toward his car.

Startled, Anning asked, "Uncle, where are we going?"

"To see Fenfen," Chicheng said as he dragged her along.

"You know where Fenfen is?" An eager Anning quickened her pace to get in front of Chicheng and stopped him to ask.

"At Garden Island."

Chicheng replied to Anning and reached out to open the passenger door.

Upon hearing news of Fenfen, Anning immediately got into the car, fastened her seatbelt, and once Chicheng got in, she asked, "Uncle, how did you know Fenfen is at Garden Island?"

Chicheng started the car and said, "My people told me."

He stepped on the accelerator, the car made a sharp turn, heading straight out through the gate.

The dock already had a yacht waiting, but Anning hesitated; she was unwilling to board. Chicheng, standing on the yacht, watched her puzzled, "Ji Anning, what are you doing?"

His urging gave Anning the courage. She looked up at him and said, "Uncle, let me go alone. I think Grandfather’s intention is still the same as before, for your sake, so let me go alone."

Upon hearing this, Chicheng’s face darkened, "I won’t give you a second chance."

Anning’s tone was just as determined, "Let me go alone."

"You don’t have to go," Chicheng said coldly and, turning around, instructed the yacht captain, "Start the boat."

Following that, the yacht slowly sailed away from the shore.

It picked up speed and grew smaller and smaller in Anning’s view.

Until it disappeared from sight, Anning withdrew her gaze, reached into her bag to pull out her phone, and opened a message.

"If you let me see you with Chicheng again, you’ll never be able to see the child again."

Ah!

With a sigh of resignation, Anning looked up again at the boundless sea.

This message had come during her journey here.

She couldn’t ensure that Ji Zhengdao, for Chicheng’s sake, would show mercy because Fenfen was his own granddaughter; she couldn’t be sure what he would do to Fenfen.

Fenfen, blind in one eye, was naturally timid and delicate.

She also absolutely couldn’t let her uncle find out about their real uncle-niece relationship; she could bear the pain of this truth alone.

As long as she could stay by his side, that was enough.

...
