Chapter 605 - 597: Showing Off Back Home (Part 5)
The car stopped next to the fountain in front of the hotel. She hurriedly walked over, pulled open the passenger door, and it was chilly outside. She quickly bent down and ducked into the car.
"Mommy."
Suddenly, a familiar childish voice came from behind her.
Ji Anning was startled. Was it her hallucination?
"Mommy."
The childish voice rang out again. Ji Anning’s eyes brightened as she turned around. The little one, whom she hadn’t seen for three months, appeared before her, her eyes brimming with excited tears.
"Fenfen," Ji Anning leaned forward and grabbed the little girl in a hug, kissing her rosy cheeks repeatedly.
"Who brought you here?"
It took Ji Anning a long while to think of this question. After asking Fenfen, she suddenly looked up to meet the man’s cold eyes, stirring a thousand waves in her heart.
Excited and slightly incoherent, she asked, "Uncle, you... how did you come here?"
The question was so anxious, even the assistant beside her felt it.
How did he come here? Of course, he came because of you - isn’t that obvious?
The man sat there lazily, not saying a word. There was no light inside the car, so Ji Anning couldn’t see what he was thinking, or what his expression was.
The atmosphere was silent.
A silence that felt oppressive.
"Sister Nian, are we still going to the airport?"
The assistant spoke up, breaking the silence.
Oh! That question was really... inappropriate, pushing her into an awkward position.
She had quietly booked a ticket, intending to surprise them, but they ended up surprising her instead.
She could have acted a bit more aloof...
Ji Anning frowned in frustration and glared at her assistant, waving her hand, "We’re not going."
"Then where to?" the assistant asked again.
Where to... she hadn’t really thought about that. Ji Anning turned to Ji Chicheng and asked, "Uncle, have you had dinner yet?"
"Go to Lidu," Ji Chicheng ordered the assistant without acknowledging Ji Anning.
Lidu was a famous hotel in the Capital City, and Ji Anning had been staying there for the past few days. The assistant was familiar with it.
She nodded and immediately started the car.
At this time, the traffic in Capital City was congested. Ji Anning, having had a few glasses of champagne earlier, was now feeling a bit carsick. She rested her head against the car window, silent all the way to the hotel.
The luggage that had been loaded into the car in the morning was unloaded and dragged into the hotel.
"Miss Li, welcome."
From afar, the receptionist waited with a gentle smile to greet Ji Anning.
"Two rooms," Ji Anning handed her ID to the receptionist, then looked at Ji Chicheng standing a meter away. "Uncle, where is your ID?"
Ji Chicheng slightly frowned and, ignoring Ji Anning, turned and walked towards the elevator.
Ji Anning was just feeling upset about his rudeness when she suddenly heard the receptionist say, "Miss Li, Mr. Ji has already booked the rooms."
"Oh." Ji Anning nodded, withdrawing her gaze from Ji Chicheng.
She then turned to the assistant and instructed, "Take my ID and go to the room first."
She then lifted her foot and quickly went after Ji Chicheng, "Uncle, are you and Fenfen going to eat first?"
"The Chinese restaurant on the second floor is quite good."
"The crab meat is especially abundant, and they have Fenfen’s favorite Tiramisu."
"The Western restaurant is also on the second floor."
Ji Anning chattered away to Ji Chicheng about the food options, completely oblivious to his increasingly dark expression.
