Chapter 597 - 589: This B*tch, She’s Faking It! (Part 2)
The man sitting across from her furrowed his brows, looking at Ji Anning’s actions with a gaze that just couldn’t understand.
’Knock, knock, knock.’
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.
The waiter looked at Ji Chicheng with an inquiring gaze.
Ji Chicheng gave the waiter a look, signaling him to open the door.
"Who is it?" Anning asked, still chewing on the piece of lobster meat from earlier, her eyes turning to the doorway while she chewed.
When the waiter opened the door, a tall figure entered Anning’s field of vision, and she frowned.
This woman, didn’t she say she wasn’t coming? Why is she here again?
"Fenfen."
Korea walked in, smiling faintly at Fenfen, carrying two meal boxes in her hands. She placed the meal boxes on the table in front of Fenfen and said, "Auntie just had a couple of pastries and found them extremely delicious, so she had me bring them over especially for you."
As she spoke, she opened the lids of the meal boxes to reveal the beautifully assorted pastries inside.
Ji Anning glanced over and said with a smile to Korea, "Miss Korea, you’re too kind. You should have kept it for your mother instead of going to the trouble of bringing it all the way to us."
Korea shook her head with a smile, "No worries, I ordered this portion especially for Fenfen."
Anning said indifferently, "We actually ordered some too."
She wants to curry favor with her daughter and win over her daughter’s heart. This woman’s ambition is just too great.
She must definitely not let Fenfen have contact with her in the future, and not let her own daughter, whom she struggled so hard to bring into this world, call some other woman mother.
"Oh?" Korea said with a surprised tone, "This is made by Pcly, the master patissier who is actually at our place right now."
The implication was clear: there was no way they could have ordered the exact same pastries; she was just bluffing.
This was like a slap in the face.
Ji Anning harbored resentment in her heart, but her face remained composed as she calmly smiled, "We didn’t order the exact same ones, but we did order pastries. Miss Korea, perhaps you can take some back to your mother to try as well."
It was like they were making it seem like they were living in poverty. Fenfen, after all, still had a father who was generous with money.
"Miss Niannian, you don’t need to be so polite with me," Korea’s smile grew a bit forced.
After all, the Ji Anning she had encountered before always seemed soft and weak, as if she was very innocent and easy to talk to.
But today, Anning was incessantly taking control of the conversation, as if she was trying to establish some sort of stance.
Ji Anning, the acting powerhouse, still didn’t show the slightest flaw as she politely said to Korea, "Miss Korea has always been so kind to Fenfen, I should really treat Miss Korea to a meal."
At that moment, Ji Chicheng’s cell phone suddenly rang, the familiar ringtone interrupting Anning’s words. She turned her head to look.
Ji Chicheng glanced at the caller ID, his face suddenly darkening. He picked up the phone, got up, and walked out of the private room. It wasn’t until he reached the doorway that he answered the call and put it to his ear.
Not knowing what had happened, Anning frowned with concern as she watched Ji Chicheng leave the room. Only when the door closed once more did she withdraw her gaze and refocus on Korea.
With a slight smile, she picked up the conversation where they had left off, "If Miss Korea doesn’t mind, why not sit down and join us?"
"Sure."
To Anning’s complete surprise, Korea actually nodded and sat down beside Fenfen.
Then she turned her attention back to Anning, regaining her generous smile.
