Chapter 588 - 580: His Warmth (Thirteen)
Ji Anning leaned against the seat, turning her head to look at the man next to her, not wiping away the rain that obstructed her view, just watching him through the haze.
A sense of peace and solidity she had never felt before filled her heart.
When she arrived home, Fenfen was already asleep.
The aunt was waiting in the living room. Ji Anning, feeling groggy and a bit confused, greeted her and went straight upstairs.
Ji Chicheng followed her, watching her ascend the stairs. He paused for a moment, then turned towards the kitchen.
He opened the refrigerator and started searching through it.
The aunt came over and, seeing him looking for something, asked, "Mr. Ji, what are you looking for?"
"Isn’t there any cola left?" Ji Chicheng straightened up and asked the aunt.
The aunt said, "Just one bottle, which Miss Anning used tonight to make you ginger tea."
Ji Chicheng frowned, "What?"
"Miss Anning made ginger cola tea and brought it to you," the aunt explained and walked over to the refrigerator to search inside, "There’s none left, not a single bottle."
Suddenly, Ji Chicheng dashed past her like a breeze.
"This child!"
The aunt felt puzzled and muttered quietly in the kitchen.
...
Ji Anning returned to her room, took off her soaking wet clothes, and stood under the shower, letting the hot water pour down on her.
Her body relaxed like never before.
Her head grew fuzzier, beginning to feel out of control; she stepped back until she was leaning against the wall.
After a while, the drowsiness somewhat subsided. Not bothering with a towel, she simply slipped on a bathrobe and walked out of the bathroom barefoot.
Holding a dry towel, she walked while wiping her damp hair.
Trying not to wake Fenfen, who was deeply asleep on the bed, she sat cross-legged on the small sofa, drained. She just wrapped her hair with the towel and left it be.
"Ji Anning."
Suddenly, a familiar call rang in her ears, a familiar man’s voice.
Her eyes fluttered open, groggy, no longer sure if she was dreaming or awake. She smiled faintly and reached out to touch the tall figure in front of her, "Uncle, my head hurts so much."
"Drink this."
The gentle, magnetic voice beckoned Ji Anning.
Ji Anning obediently nodded, "Okay."
She opened her mouth and took a sip of the liquid the man brought to her lips.
It was warm, sweet, and spicy.
The mix of flavors slightly revived her as she looked up to see the man looking down at her with deep, unfathomable eyes.
No emotion could be discerned.
"Is this cola ginger syrup?" Ji Anning asked, looking down at the bowl Ji Chicheng was holding.
"Hold it," Ji Chicheng extended his hand a little more, letting Ji Anning hold the bowl herself.
Ji Anning nodded, said ’Oh’, and took the bowl. It was warm in her hands. She first drank a sip, then quickly finished the rest, even eating the few strands of ginger inside.
She even licked the corners of her mouth, wanting more.
The man watched her actions, his deep gaze softening slightly.
He reached out and took the bowl from Ji Anning’s hands, looked at her hair wrapped in the towel and commanded, "Dry your hair before you sleep."
Ji Anning nodded, "Mm."
Ji Chicheng gave her a deep look, pursed his lips, and turned away.
Watching his tall figure leave, Ji Anning leaned back, completely collapsing back, unconsciously muttering, "Uncle, blow dry my hair for me."
