Chapter 573 - 565: His New Life (Part 4)
He handed it to the police, "This is my niece-in-law, here on a business trip."
Hearing the words "niece-in-law," Ji Anning’s eyes became sour, and her eyes reddened.
He used to hate it when others associated her with Ji Jingfeng, even separating their seats during breakfast, but now he introduced her so nonchalantly to others as his niece-in-law.
Why? Why did it seem like she couldn’t accept this fact now?
On the way back, Ji Anning and Ji Chicheng both sat in the back seat, but they each sat next to opposite doors, one by the left door and one by the right door.
Throughout the journey, they had no interaction at all.
When the car stopped in the yard, Ji Anning was the first to open the door and jump out of the car. After alighting, she didn’t immediately walk away; instead, she stood there, wrapped her clothes tighter, and waited for Ji Chicheng to get out.
’Bang’
Ji Chicheng got out of the car and slammed the door hard, clearly emotional.
Then, he stepped into the house.
Ji Anning, nervous, quickly followed and said, "Uncle, I don’t know that foreign man; the person who fought with him wasn’t me."
Hearing her explanation, Ji Chicheng stopped, turned around, and looked at her coldly, "You don’t need to explain to me. I bailed you out for Fenfen’s sake. From now on, behave yourself."
After saying that, he withdrew his gaze indifferently and continued towards the house.
His figure was still imposing, but no longer warm towards her. Ji Anning stood frozen in place for a long while before she finally nodded towards Ji Chicheng’s disappearing figure, "Okay."
...
The next morning, at the breakfast table, Ji Anning and Ji Mingyue sat side by side, with Fenfen sitting between them.
Ji Chicheng sat alone opposite them, occasionally interacting with Fenfen.
Ji Anning had just finished spreading jam on her bread, ready to eat, when suddenly Ji Mingyue leaned close to her ear and asked curiously, "How did you meet Yue Sen Charles yesterday?"
Ji Anning paused with the bread in hand and instinctively glanced at Ji Chicheng across from her; he was bowing his head, slowly eating while looking at the newspaper beside him, completely unaware of their conversation.
She retracted her gaze and dismissively replied to Ji Mingyue, "I worked with him before."
Then she opened her mouth, bit into the bread, and picked up the milk to drink.
"It seemed like he really liked Fenfen. How did you come into contact with someone like him?"
Ji Mingyue was filled with confusion about Charles and why Ji Anning knew him.
"Met by chance. It’s too long a story to go into detail," Ji Anning replied, still dismissively.
After speaking, she again looked guiltily towards Ji Chicheng.
Ji Chicheng still showed no reaction, as if he had heard nothing of Ji Anning’s and Ji Mingyue’s conversation.
Ji Mingyue nodded, asked no further, took a sip of milk, and then shook her head disdainfully, "Tsk, tsk, tsk, that old man, other than being arrogant, I don’t see anything particularly remarkable about him."
Is remarkable trait something that can be seen in a moment?
Just as Ji Anning was internally criticizing Miss Four’s logic, Miss Four suddenly leaned closer to her once more, smiling and wiggling her eyebrows, "I’m here to interview an important leader in City N. Next week I’ll return to City L. Help me arrange an interview with that mysterious old man, will you?"
Ji Anning: "..."
Her cheek really was thick enough, despising him yesterday, treating him snobbishly, and now wanting to invite him as her interview guest.
