Chapter 515 - 507: Wanting Mom and Dad Together (Part 5)

After changing into dry clothes, Ji Anning folded her wet clothes neatly and packed them into a bag.

She stood by the bedside, gazing at the sleeping little one with a face full of tenderness.

After watching for a while, she bent down and gently kissed the little girl’s forehead.

"My darling, Mommy will come to see you next time."

Since she couldn’t take her away for the time being, there was no need to linger here any longer.

She was afraid her heart would waver under the impact of sweet memories that once inhabited this place.

With one hand carrying the bag and the other holding the staircase, Ji Anning descended the stairs, one step at a time.

In the vast living room, not a soul was to be seen. After descending the stairs, she walked straight to the front door and walked out.

It was still raining outside, a torrential downpour.

She stood in the corridor in front of the door, hesitated for a moment, then lifted the bag over her head and dashed into the heavy rain.

She ran out of the yard’s gate.

The weather had entered late autumn, and the rain was ice-cold, chilling her to the bone as it drenched her, making her shiver uncontrollably.

In the second-floor study, the man stood in front of the window, watching the petite figure disappear into the rain. At that moment, his hands, which were buried in his trouser pockets, clenched into fists angrily.

When Ji Anning had completely vanished from his sight, he turned around and left the study with a thunderous rage.

"Boss!"

Beige happened to be coming upstairs with a bowl of something steaming when she encountered Ji Chicheng; she stopped in her tracks.

Ji Chicheng glanced at the bowl in Beige’s hands, which contained a light brown liquid.

Beige hurriedly explained to him, "Miss Anning got caught in the rain, and it seemed like she was on her period, so I made her a bowl of ginger brown sugar water."

"Ha!" Ji Chicheng let out a scoff and stepped into another room.

It was Miss Anning’s dressing room... Beige was puzzled as to why Ji Chicheng entered Ji Anning’s dressing room with such dark rage.

Ji Chicheng came out holding a pile of clothes, dumped them on the floor, and commanded her, "Empty it within half an hour."

With that, he stepped over the pile he had just thrown, walked downstairs without looking back.

The rain fell as if the sky had sprung a leak, pouring endlessly. This area was entirely residential, and it was impossible to hail a cab.

Ji Anning was already drenched, her face covered in rain, blurring her vision.

Squinting her eyes as she moved forward, a shiny black car drove towards her, headlights flashing in the heavy rain.

She moved to the side of the road to avoid the splash from its wheels, but the car slowed down when it was still some distance from her.

When it reached her, it slowly came to a stop.

As Ji Anning was still puzzled, the driver’s door opened, and the man got out, opened an umbrella, and his tall figure, seemingly carrying a wave of anger, quickly approached her.

"Are you an idiot?" he bellowed at the surprised Ji Anning, as Qi Helian himself trembled all over.

Stunned by his shout, Ji Anning didn’t understand why he was so angry.

Seeing her dazed look, the rage within Qi Helian hadn’t completely subsided, and he continued to yell at her, "You were so heartless to leave Ji Chicheng. Why not make another heartless move and abandon the child as well?"

His words immediately sparked Ji Anning’s emotions, which were already on the verge of collapse, and she burst into tears with a ’waah’.

In the midst of the torrential rain, her crying seemed to tear apart Qi Helian’s heart.

Qi Helian dropped the umbrella from his hand and embraced Ji Anning with one sweeping motion, "I’m sorry, please don’t cry."
