Chapter 511 - 503: Wanting Mom and Dad to Be Together (Part 1)
"Alright."
After the other party replied, Charles hung up the phone.
He put the cell phone aside, his body slowly leaning back, against the broad, comfortable backrest of the chair, squinting his deep blue eyes.
"Ji Chicheng."
Musing to himself, he then reached out to pull open a drawer and took out a photograph. The woman in the picture, with a slight smile, was radiantly captivating.
His slender fingers gently traced the woman’s curved lips, while in his sharp and profound gaze lay an endless yearning.
Just moments ago, the sun had been hanging high in the sky, but now it was obscured by dark clouds. There was an area in the western sky that was unusually bright.
Having stood in the doorway for a while, Beige turned and entered the room, approaching Ji Chicheng, who was watching television with Fenfen. She pondered for a moment, and then cautiously expressed her concern, "Boss... it’s going to rain outside."
As she spoke, she glanced at Fenfen, who was intently staring at the TV screen, and lowered her voice, "Miss Anning is still outside."
Ji Chicheng’s expression darkened, "You’ve been talking too much lately. Starting tomorrow, you can switch with Lily."
Upon hearing this, Beige hastily apologized, "Boss, it won’t happen again."
Ji Chicheng ignored her. Just as an episode of the cartoon ended, he picked up Fenfen and stood up, looking at her chubby little face with eyes full of indulgence, "Daddy will take you upstairs for a nap."
As he spoke, he affectionately kissed the little girl’s cheek.
Fenfen smiled and stretched out her tiny arms, hugging Ji Chicheng, displaying immense affection.
These past days, Ji Chicheng had been inseparable from her. The little girl no longer held any of the shadows from when she had been taken by him; she trusted him completely, relying on him.
In the room, the large floor-to-ceiling windows let in plenty of light. Ji Chicheng placed Fenfen on the neatly made bed, then walked towards the window to draw the curtains.
His hand grasped the curtain, pulling it a bit before suddenly pausing. He looked up at the sky, which was growing more overcast.
"Bang!"
Suddenly, a ’bang’ sounded from behind him, followed by Fenfen’s cries.
Ji Chicheng clenched his teeth, a hint of resentment flashing in his eyes. His hand tugged hard, closing the curtains tightly. Without a moment’s hesitation, he turned around to pick up Fenfen, who had fallen to the floor.
Fenfen covered the right side of her forehead with her small hands, tilting her head back, her cries intense.
As Ji Chicheng pried her hands away, he soothed her, "Let Daddy take a look. Daddy will rub it for you."
Parting the hands of the little girl, he saw a large bump on the spot where her forehead had hit, sunken in a small area. His heart wrenched painfully, "Daddy will blow on it."
"Mommy, Mommy..."
The little girl, rubbing her eyes, cried for her mommy.
While crying, she pointed to the nightstand. Ji Chicheng looked over to see that the drawer was slightly open, revealing a photograph inside.
His face cooled, he reached over to close the drawer.
The little girl in his arms continued to wail, her cries soaked in sweat.
Insistently saying ’want Mommy’, Ji Chicheng’s attempt to take her to the children’s room was futile.
Her crying echoed throughout the entire house. Since the day he had brought her back, she had never cried as violently as she did today.
The little girl kept her eyes closed, her head back, her mouth open, her cries forceful, her voice already hoarse.
Beige, standing by, anxious and helpless, worried that the little girl might damage her voice from crying. Several times she looked at Ji Chicheng, unable to convey her concern.
