She paused, glanced at Ji Anning, and continued, "He can’t bear to part with you."

As soon as she finished speaking, the elevator arrived, and she stepped in.

"Beige." Ji Anning tried to follow her into the elevator.

Beige, who had stretched out her hand to press the close button, stopped and looked at Ji Anning, reminding her, "He’s angry right now. Based on what I know about him, if you go to him now, it will surely backfire."

Ji Anning’s steps halted.

She recalled Ji Chicheng’s indifferent and unfeeling demeanor from just before, and her heart hesitated about following him.

"Give him some time, because he’s truly heartbroken."

Beige sighed, closed the elevator door.

Ji Anning turned around in a daze, leaning against the wall. Her face, though beautifully made up, was utterly pale, her gaze unfocused and lost, as if she had just suffered a major illness.

"Anning."

Qi Helian had finally managed to shake off those reporters and wrap up his work. He rushed out and, seeing Ji Anning in such a state, felt a tightness in his heart.

He hurried to her side, and seeing her dazed expression, his hands stretched out nervously to grasp her shoulders, gently shaking her twice, "Anning, where’s Chicheng?"

"He said... I no longer have the right to be Fenfen’s mother."

She muttered under her breath, and her emotions could no longer be contained. Raising her hands, she covered her face and burst into tears.

Hearing her sobbing, Qi Helian’s heart clenched tightly. He raised his hands that were resting on Ji Anning’s shoulders, hesitated, and ultimately let them fall, patting her shoulder gently, "He loves you, truly loves you, much more than you see or think."

"No." Ji Anning shook her head, biting her finger and too choked up to speak, "No... I don’t... I don’t love him."

As she uttered those words, her heart completely shattered.

She slid down the wall she was leaning against, crouching on the floor, holding her head in her hands, the agonizing pain almost suffocating her.

Qi Helian crouched down alongside her, moved his hand to her back, and gently patted her, wanting to say something to comfort her, but then he noticed the reporters had followed them.

He furrowed his brow impatiently, not having much time to think, and he grabbed Ji Anning by the wrist, pulling her up, while his other hand reached for the elevator button.

Not knowing where Ji Chicheng had taken Fenfen, in a strange city full of strangers, it was like looking for a needle in the ocean for Ji Anning, with nowhere to start.

Standing in front of the vast floor-to-ceiling window, she looked out at the daytime scenery of J city, her eyes filled with confusion.

"Have some hot water." Qi Helian poured a cup of hot water and walked over to Ji Anning, offering it to her.

Ji Anning didn’t reach out to take the cup, still staring blankly outside, not even responding to Qi Helian.

Qi Helian frowned and spoke earnestly, "Chicheng will surely take good care of Fenfen. Don’t worry for now. If you keep on not eating or drinking, not sleeping, and falling into depression, ruining your image and losing your job, you’ll be even less qualified and less able to fight for Fenfen."

Hearing this, Ji Anning withdrew her gaze from outside, slowly turned her head, and looked at Qi Helian, "Do you know where he is now?"

Qi Helian’s face hardened as he remained silent for a while, then finally nodded, "Yes, he took Fenfen to N city."

As he spoke, he shifted the conversation, "Have you considered that, given the current situation where you won’t reconcile immediately, it might be better for Fenfen to stay with Chicheng? His conditions are much better, and Fenfen’s eyes will get treated faster with him."
