Chapter 492 - 484: Fenfen, My Daughter (7)
The beige on the side was also surprised; she opened her mouth, "No wonder she walked on the steps as if it were flat ground; she must not have seen clearly."
Having said that, she looked pityingly at the little girl who was smug about receiving two candies.
Children can always be soothed with food, but perhaps it’s not because they love to eat; more often, it’s because it’s a reward for good behavior, a sense of honor.
She used to like collecting the candies given to her by others in a beautiful little box.
She wondered if those candies were ever eaten in the end.
Ji Chicheng’s mind couldn’t help but conjure the image of a thirteen- or fourteen-year-old girl, maturing gracefully, her bangs covering her entire face whenever she looked down.
Making it hard to tell what she was thinking.
She often wickedly hid in the dark, using a slingshot to hit those who bullied her; though seemingly fragile, she was ruthless when shooting with the slingshot.
"Sweetheart, what’s your name?"
The little girl replied in a babyish voice, "Fenfen."
"You’re very pretty." The doctor complimented the youngster, then lifted her down from the chair, bending to pat her back gently, and with his other hand pointing towards Ji Chicheng and beige, he smiled and said, "Let your daddy and mommy take you home."
It was clearly a misunderstanding.
Beige quickly shook her head and waved her hands, "No, no, no, doctor, we’re not her parents."
As she spoke, she glanced at Ji Chicheng with embarrassment, her face flushed, and quickly looked away.
"Uh..." The doctor, after hearing this, was surprised for a moment, then he looked at Fenfen and asked, "Where’s your mommy?"
"Don’t know." Fenfen shook her head, but then she immediately stretched out her little finger pointing at Ji Chicheng, and told the doctor, "Daddy."
The little girl shook her head unclearly, and trying to understand what she was saying involved listening and guessing simultaneously.
Daddy?
Ji Chicheng frowned; he didn’t know why the little girl kept calling him daddy, but he knew he didn’t have a daughter.
Lacking patience, he didn’t want to stay any longer, and instructed beige, "Stay here and watch over her; I’m going to find the old man."
Saying this, he stepped out of the emergency room.
...
"Fenfen, Fenfen has disappeared."
The shoot wasn’t over yet when the assistant rushed into the set, informing Ji Anning that Fenfen was missing.
Upon hearing this, Ji Anning turned pale, nervously grabbing the assistant’s hand, "How could she disappear? Didn’t I ask you to keep an eye on her?"
As she spoke, she dragged the assistant out of the crowd.
Ignoring the director’s and the whole crew’s gazes.
The young assistant was so anxious that tears emerged, "She wanted popcorn, and I...I just went to buy her some, but when I turned around, she was gone."
Her anxious tone stuttered.
"Search!"
Ji Anning felt that asking and listening to the assistant narrate the incident here was pointless.
She decisively said just one word, then she turned back to the crowd, walked up to the director, and snatched the megaphone from his hands, "Let me use this."
"Fenfen."
"Fenfen..."
Ji Anning, holding the megaphone, walking along the seaside pathway, calling out anxiously as she went.
She kept walking to less populated areas, yet still no sign of the little girl; she looked around bewildered.
"Ah!"
Wearing very high heels, she didn’t notice a step and twisted her foot, the pain causing her to lean against a nearby railing.
