Chapter 485 - 477: A Kiss, One Million (Part 20)
He pointed at Ji Anning, too furious to speak, and finally his eyes rolled back as he collapsed backward.
Wu, the assistant who was a few meters away, rushed forward to support the old man, "Chairman, chairman..."
Overwhelmed by the hatred that the old man had forced upon her in the past, Ji Anning was now frightened to see him collapse. She quickly got up and moved closer.
The anxious assistant Wu looked at her, "Miss Anning, call an ambulance quickly."
Ji Anning nodded, "I understand."
...
The old man had been in the emergency room for over an hour, yet there was no news.
Ji Anning stood at the door, anxiously looking around, while assistant Wu paced back and forth beside her.
Both of them were equally frantic.
Suddenly, the sound of hurried footsteps came from the door. Assistant Wu looked up, his eyes lighting up, "Young Master."
The glint in Ji Anning’s eyes also flashed with excitement. She turned her head, and the tall figure of the man had already reached behind her.
But he did not look at her. Instead, he lifted his head and his anxious gaze fixed on the glowing ’Emergency Room’ sign above the door.
Ji Anning looked up at him for a while, pursed her lips, but in the end, she said nothing.
She quietly turned around and walked past Ji Chicheng, saying to assistant Wu, "I’m leaving."
She gave him a faint greeting and then she lifted her foot and walked towards the emergency department’s main entrance.
Listening to the ’thump thump’ of her footsteps growing fainter, Ji Chicheng’s shoulders slumped. He turned around to look at Ji Anning’s petite figure as she walked away.
’After she left Hai City, she married a rich businessman...’
’Rumor has it that she also had a daughter with that rich businessman...’
He lowered his hand from the emergency room door, his steps faltering backward until he leaned against the wall.
Just then, the emergency room door opened and the doctor came out. Assistant Wu approached him nervously, "Doctor, how is our chairman?"
The young foreign doctor gave him a reassuring look, "He no longer has a life-threatening condition, but he needs to be moved to the ICU."
Hearing this, Ji Chicheng, who was leaning against the wall, breathed a sigh of relief.
He steadied himself on the wall, straightened up, and walked to the emergency room door where medical staff were wheeling the old man out.
"Chairman!" Assistant Wu quickly went to meet him, following the medical staff to escort the old man to the ICU.
Ji Chicheng walked slowly behind them, and when they reached the elevator, he stopped and did not enter.
Watching the elevator doors close, he then turned and walked briskly back to the doorway of the emergency room.
Ji Anning leaned against the wall with tightly pursed lips, holding back her tears.
"What are you doing here?"
Suddenly, a cold voice came from her right. Her body stiffened, and the tears that hadn’t yet flowed trembled in her eyes.
Before she could turn her head, the heavy footsteps of the man were already beside her.
She quickly reached up to wipe away her tears and then looked up, her gaze meeting his. Even though she controlled her tears, she couldn’t control the choke in her voice, "It was me who upset him."
Her gaze followed Ji Chicheng until he was in front of her, face to face.
His brooding dark eyes pinned her in place, leaving her with no choice but to meet his gaze, "So you’re just feeling guilty?"
"...Yes," Ji Anning replied with a bit lip, nodding gently before she lowered her eyes.
Ji Chicheng clenched his fists tightly, suppressing the emotions that threatened to explode as he spoke coldly, "He’s fine now, you can leave."
