Chapter 424 - 418: We Are All Adults, Why Can’t We Take It? (Part 7)

"You’re right to protect Jingfeng, but your uncle is still an elder, and neither I nor your grandfather have ever been willing to say a harsh word to him."

Ji Mingyue’s words of compassion for Ji Chicheng made Anning’s nose tingle again.

Yes, she deserved to die, to be cut to pieces.

"I know I was wrong."

"Alright, it was wrong of me to hit you, too. I’ll take you to school, no more refusals."

Ji Mingyue quite magnanimously offered an apology, her tone sounded impatient, but her sincerity was full.

Anning no longer rejected Ji Mingyue, and got into her impressive off-road vehicle, which was military green and utterly mismatched with her delicate figure.

"Don’t get involved in the uncle-nephew war, no matter what, Jingfeng is his nephew, what can he really do to him?"

On the way, Ji Mingyue lectured Anning like a preacher, trying to enlighten her.

"Hmm."

No matter what she said, if it was right, Anning would nod, and if not, she’d just listen.

The car was playing an old CD of Jay Chou, now singing the classic ’Nunchucks’, and Ji Mingyue, upon hearing this song, got so excited she not only sang along but also swayed her shoulders while gripping the steering wheel.

Watching her, Anning couldn’t help but suppress a laugh.

She knew Ji Mingyue liked Jay Chou a lot.

She remembered when she was just in second grade and Ji Mingyue had entered middle school, she had adopted a Jay Chou-inspired hairstyle because of her admiration for him, with thick bangs covering the eyes.

When she came home, the old man scolded her to tears and then forcibly had her cut her hair even shorter, leading her to decide, in a huff, to go study abroad.

Because abroad was so open and free.

Long after Ji Mingyue had gone overseas, Ji Chicheng also grew out his hair and copied Jay Chou’s hairstyle. The old man was angry, but he didn’t reproach him in the slightest.

Looking back now, she thought that at that time, Chicheng was probably just trying to upset the old man by doing exactly what he opposed.

Though Chicheng’s young, handsome face looked good in any hairstyle, his low-profile, cool demeanor was not one that suited imitating celebrities.

When she thought of Ji Chicheng, Anning always had endless memories.

"Sigh, I actually don’t think Jingfeng is cut out to take over the company. He’s very smart, but lacks emotional intelligence and the necessary boldness. He’s not made to be a boss."

Ji Mingyue, who had been singing joyfully, suddenly got serious and started discussing a more serious topic with Jian Ning.

After speaking, she looked at Anning and reminded her, "Don’t tell him I said this, or he might start hating me. I care for him just as much as I care for Chicheng. My criticisms are strictly about the matter at hand."

Anning shook her head with a smile, "I won’t."

For the first time, she felt that Ji Mingyue wasn’t at all unpleasant, but rather quite endearing.

Ji Mingyue went on, "They are competing right now for the acquisition of the Southern Central Enterprise, and I’m more in favor of your uncle."

"Hmm," Anning nodded out of habit.

Then she realized something was off. She turned her head, looking at Ji Mingyue in surprise, "What did you say they’re competing for?"

"The acquisition of Southern Central Enterprise, oh. Both of them have their eyes on your grandfather’s position, and he’s letting them compete fairly."

Ji Mingyue’s gaze was on the road ahead, not noticing Anning’s expression, "But Jingfeng doesn’t know about the competition, I found out secretly."

"Oh."

Anning nodded absentmindedly, her hands resting on her thighs, clutching into fists, the pain from her fingertips radiating into her heart as a warning not to ponder further.
