Pain Immunity: Worried the Villains Aren’t Twisted Enough

Chapter 280: The Wedding in Dreams, Pride!

Chapter 280: The Wedding in Dreams, Pride!

"Forty-eight hours..."

Lu Ce repeated softly, instinctively furrowing his brow.

"What a troublesome time limit, with such strict constraints."

The wedding in dreams would begin in two days, meaning unless the objective involved calling off the engagement, the crucial moment would only arrive after these two days had passed.

Two days was an unusually long duration for his playstyle. Given his tendency to charge ahead without bothering with meticulous decryption, most scenarios wouldn't require this much time.

The wall clock suddenly chimed again with a melodious tone, directing players toward their next task.

"Attention all attendants, this wedding is of utmost importance. You must ensure its flawless execution."

"Over these two days, all potential issues must be eliminated before they surface. Not the slightest mistake is permitted."

"Attention all attendants, repeating once more..."

The overhead clock proved unbearably noisy, insisting on repeating its announcement.Lu Ce's brows gradually knitted together. "What exactly is an 'attendant'? Some kind of male nanny?"

Why did this game scenario begin with such incessant nagging? And why did the term "attendant" instinctively irritate him?

Pushing himself up, Lu Ce stood directly on the exquisite mattress, glaring at the offending clock.

In its reflective surface, he caught sight of his mask's color - a blindingly bright yellow, or rather, gold!

Gold (RIN) — Pride!

Among all the masks, this was the only one that didn't induce immediate discomfort or fear. Instead, it radiated extraordinary brilliance.

It evoked images of ancient battlefields, representing the most glorious and exalted hue, carrying an air of innate nobility.

The sight even momentarily stunned Lu Ce.

[Sin Mask Form: Pride, Mode: Normal.]

[Personality Influence: Pride is others' perception - I simply know objectively that I was born superior.]

[Ability: Immune to all hierarchical pressure. You inherently possess the right to look down upon any existence. Automatically projects an intimidating aura.]

[Side Effect: When facing higher hierarchical suppression, remains unaffected with corresponding boosts to strength and presence. However, the effects of Pride multiply exponentially, potentially causing mental instability, indiscriminate slaughter, and attracting unnecessary calamities.]

[But Pride doesn't care.]

[Description: I've never seen a mountain - I am the highest mountain. Only foxes borrowing a tiger's majesty need to show off. A true king needs only wear his crown and sit upon his throne.]

The game's description provided the most stable portrayal of this mask.

Yet its ability explanations were cursory at best, focusing primarily on personality traits and side effects.

"Pride, huh? So Laziness remains for last," Lu Ce murmured while adjusting his cape's standing collar, observing his golden mask's reflection.

"Attention all attendants..."

The clock continued its relentless noise, now presumably on its third repetition.

Lu Ce coldly raised his gaze and reached out, fingers closing around the device.

"How long do you intend to keep shouting?"

His grip tightened gradually, the metallic casing crumpling like compressed paper, twisting grotesquely.

"Attendant... attendant..."

Static crackled before black smoke erupted as Lu Ce crushed it completely.

"I believe your existence was unnecessary."

A minor explosion occurred at the end, as if triggering some internal mechanism.

Lu Ce's hand remained unharmed as he casually brushed off metal fragments and soot.

Hopping off the bed, he remarked, "This mask seems to have no noticeable effect."

Pacing the room, Lu Ce reflected that usually when donning a new mask, he'd experience intense emotional turbulence before gradually acclimating.

But today? Nothing. As if he wasn't even wearing a mask.

Perhaps Pride was being unusually accommodating.

His gaze fell upon a gold-edged paper on the desk - unmistakably a game prop.

Approaching, he read its bold crimson title:

"Attendant Guidelines"

"Oh? Attendant..."

Lu Ce's brow furrowed again as he scanned the room. That incessant voice had mentioned this term earlier.

Then his expression smoothed as realization dawned:

"Ah, so this room comes with an attendant? That's only proper."

"Though without a servant's bed, are they expected to sleep on the floor?"

This declaration stunned the millions of spectators observing through his perspective.

After witnessing that magnificent golden mask, they'd anticipated some grand new persona.

Instead they got... this?

[Chat: Wait, seriously? He thinks the room includes an attendant??]

[Chat: BRO YOU ARE THE ATTENDANT! How can you miss that??]

[Chat: Of all possibilities, this interpretation never crossed my mind.]

Oblivious to audience reactions, Lu Ce continued reading the guidelines despite the absent attendant.

[Attendant Rule 1: Always remember your station. Know your place.]

[Attendant Rule 2: The supreme will here is the Princess. Attendants must obey.]

At the second rule, Lu Ce froze, instinctively touching his mask.

The golden surface briefly contorted into an irritated expression. ꐦ≖≖

"Princess? Was I assigned female in this scenario?"

[Chat: WHAT DID I JUST HEAR??]

[Chat: I'm deceased. He'd rather believe he's playing a woman than accept not being the supreme authority.]

[Chat: I hereby declare the sun revolves around "Sin".]

[Chat: Between materialism and idealism, he chose... selfism.]

Displeased by these guidelines, Lu Ce prepared to continue reading when sudden realization struck.

"Right, these are attendant rules. The attendant should read them. Why am I wasting time?"

With that, he tossed the paper aside without reviewing remaining rules, turning his attention to the door.
