Pain Immunity: Worried the Villains Aren’t Twisted Enough

Chapter 178: Omniscience Is Omnipotence, Whispers by the Ear

Chapter 178: Omniscience Is Omnipotence, Whispers by the Ear

Mind-reading, that terrifying ability, definitely isn't something players at this stage of the game can master.

Chiyo Eine's concern was reasonable, because in her mind, she had imagined the woman before her as something far too terrifying.

Like one of those characters that exist in every novel—lurking in the dark, like a hibernating snake.

Why was she able, every single time, to step right into the blind spot of her skills, to hit the exact weakest point of her moves?

But in reality, Xie Antong was burning through her energy at an alarming rate.

Predicting every action of the opponent required a ton of prior intel, and control over their psychological weaknesses.

Chiyo Eine—every piece of data showed she was the definition of cautious and precise.

But often, the more precise you are, the more predictable you become. The more cautious, the clearer your weaknesses appear.

In every solo fight, her tactics followed roughly the same formula.

Probe, pressure, intimidate, look for a weak spot, estimate strength—if all checks out, kill in one blow. So, Xie Antong had rehearsed her combat patterns in her mind ten thousand times. Coupled with real-time reading of her eyes, she could almost predict her moves with 100% accuracy.

She used to gather info on top players just out of personal interest—never thought the day would come when it’d actually be useful...

The two were in a very delicate stalemate right now.

Chiyo Eine: How much is this person really hiding?

Xie Antong: I’ve been walking on eggshells for minutes now...

She glanced at the burning incense in Xie Antong's hand, then at the tentacles she herself had conjured earlier, now constantly dissolving.

"Just how much are you hiding? Can you really read minds?"

Chiyo Eine paused her attacks for now, her expression slightly grim.

"Heh, take a guess."

Xie Antong naturally kept up her act, smiling as she replied.

"No wonder you're one of them. That 'everything under control' look on your face is just like ‘Sin.’"

Chiyo Eine said coldly, looking extremely annoyed.

Xie Antong: ......

Her smile froze—gone was the cheeky grin.

Chiyo Eine looked downright terrible—her expression stiff and unnatural.

If someone really could read minds, they'd know she was mentally chanting like crazy: takoyaki, takoyaki...

If the other person really could read minds...

Then this game would be a serious pain in the *ss, wouldn't it?

But now’s not the time to explain anything to an enemy. She kept up the relaxed front—she didn’t even bother running faster before.

She knew—this was the time when she absolutely couldn’t show any weakness.

Could Chiyo Eine really not take her down?

Of course not!

If Chiyo opened with her ultimate, summoning a massive black water prison to engulf everything—then even if Xie saw it coming, it’d be useless.

But she knew—Chiyo Eine definitely wouldn't do that!

Even though this was their first meeting, at this point, Xie Antong already knew her better than her own parents did.

Because Chiyo was cautious. She didn’t know this hand-picked contestant of “Sin,” the one he told to "go all out, kill them all.”

That lack of knowledge made her unsure. When you're unsure, you probe. You can’t go all in and reveal your cards.

Especially since that would cost a lot of energy. And as someone also with high Spirit Sense, she knew even the Sun probably couldn't stay in peak condition for long.

But as long as she was probing, Xie Antong could handle it.

The more she probed and failed, the less info she got. Without info, she couldn’t make a move—her probing became pointless.

The more she probed, the less she gained.

While the two of them were stuck here dragging things out, over on the other side, Reno hadn’t stopped.

"Ha, haha."

He laughed manically and swung the muzzle of his gun.

"Disguise... undercover... hidden identity... this feels so familiar..."

He muttered crazily to himself. His body was now abnormally huge, transformed into a steel freak. His mind was clearly starting to go.

The machine gun began to fire again. Chiyo Eine was really annoyed.

This guy’s ability wasn’t deadly—so not a big deal.

But if she had to block everything, even a single missed bullet could mean a gunshot wound. Her body probably couldn’t handle that.

Her black water armor didn’t fully cover her—what if she got hit in the eyes?

Just as she summoned her black water again and turned her head—Xie Antong was gone.

That sly woman had somehow slipped behind her again.

Her heart tightened instantly, and she began dodging and weaving.

But it felt like she was stuck in some loop—as if the three of them were forming a straight line.

Reno was up front, madly spraying bullets. Xie Antong was right behind Chiyo Eine—sandwiching her in the middle.

Chiyo Eine: ?

Wonderful!

So I’m the only one getting targeted here?

But for the moment, she couldn’t pull herself out. And strangely, the Blank behind her didn’t seem like she had any intention of attacking her either...

Xie Antong stared seriously at the barrage from Reno.

With a flick of her hand, she pulled out a gun—obviously an in-game weapon.

A grip frame popped out, forming a layer of metal that wrapped around her wrist, serving as a unique kind of shield.

She locked eyes on Reno in the distance—was this the twelfth-ranked in the world?

The All-Seeing Eye, a powerful Legendary gear, had only one simple description: Omniscience is Omnipotence.

But she had never considered using it for combat before.

Now that fate—or rather, that bastard—had framed her, forcing her to face one of the world’s top experts...

She kinda wanted to try it.

She raised her gun. The world around her seemed to slow down. Her brain power drained rapidly as the All-Seeing Eye squeezed every last bit of rationality from her.

She even felt like she could see the bullet's trajectory!

Bang!

She raised her arm, leveled it—and fired one steady shot.

Chiyo Eine heard the gunshot and felt a sharp whizz right past her ear—a bullet sliding by.

The bullet seemed to have auto-tracking, weaving through the storm of bullets.

It drilled clean into a tentacle in front of her, then burst out the back.

The resistance it met twisted its path slightly—almost like someone had guided it.

It cut through the black water in the air, split the turbulence, and when it reached Reno, it collided with a bullet flying out of his own gun.

Bang!

A second impact—kinetic energy neutralized. The now-slowed bullet curved upward and, with its final burst of power, pierced the armor at Reno’s neck!

Blood oozed out.

Xie Antong's legs buckled—this level of calculation had almost drained her dry.

Then, she heard those eerie whispers again in her ear.

"Hehe, hehe."

"Are you coming? Come on~."
