Chapter 161: A Pleasant Little Test
Chapter 161: A Pleasant Little Test
The bald brute stared dumbfounded at the blue Lust Mask in front of him, as if trying to confirm the other’s identity. Then, maybe because it was too hot in the car, sweat started pouring down his forehead.
His expression shifted from fierce to blank, to stiff, then twisted. He felt like his legs were getting weak.
Good thing the car was already parked. Otherwise, there definitely would've been an accident.
“Judging by your face, looks like you recognize me.”
Lu Ce glanced at his reaction and immediately felt bored, so he took the initiative to speak.
The bald guy was now drenched in sweat and stammered,
“Y-you… are you that guy?... ‘Sin’?”
Hearing how the guy still wasn’t sure, Lu Ce asked in surprise:
“If you don’t have the livestream feed over there, then you’re not a player?”
“Then you’re a game NPC? What are you so scared of?”“Oh~ I get it, it’s the disguise, huh. You guys do this a lot.”
While talking, the gun in Lu Ce’s hand hadn’t moved an inch—still pointed right at the bald brute.
At this point, the guy seemed to unlock a whole new level of survival instinct, speaking quickly:
“No! I’m not an NPC, I’m a person, a local resident!”
“I was temporarily selected as special personnel. This is my first time being qualified to participate in the game. Actually, I’m not even participating—just here to escort you, the pre—players!”
“Bro, please calm down, let’s talk it out. Also, I still have some info I haven’t told you!”
“Earlier, earlier… heh, all that stuff was just game script. I didn’t know it was you……”
The bald guy forced out a smile uglier than crying, trying to act as friendly as possible.
He was originally from the Yamaguchi-gumi, a mafia group. Whether someone was a player or not, he never cared much—besides, there was supposed to be game protection.
But the moment he saw the mask that represented “Sin”, he chickened out instantly. Under that gaze, there was zero sense of safety.
He gulped hard, his face scrunched up like a dried chrysanthemum, eyes locked on Lu Ce with a flattering look.
A total 180 from his earlier persona. Meanwhile, in Lu Ce’s livestream room, the comments were flying: 【Can bend and stretch】
【Thought he’d met a tough guy, turns out dude’s just got bad eyesight.】
【Face-switching master.】
“Hehe, why so serious? You’re sweating a lot. Is it that hot in the car?”
“What you said earlier wasn’t bad, no issue there. But right now, I actually have a question for you.”
The bald guy noticed that Lu Ce hadn’t acted, and finally exhaled in relief.
As long as they were still talking—it’s fine. Everyone knew that among all the players, this “Sin” was the most unpredictable and unreasonable.
Though the game promised safety, he had no idea how it worked. The pressure this man gave off was immense.
“W-what is it? If I know, I’ll tell you!”
The bald man quickly replied, afraid something might go wrong.
But right after he finished, the problem arrived.
That terrifying Hell Roar in Lu Ce’s hand suddenly pushed forward, pressing tightly against his forehead. He could feel the heat of the muzzle.
Bald guy:?!
What the hell?!
“You said earlier, the game has a rule that prevents you from getting hurt while picking me up, right?”
“Y-yeah! Right, right!” The bald guy’s face was dripping with sweat, slick like oil, sheer panic on his face.
All that Yakuza bravado was long gone. No mafia thug could out-scary this guy.
He had all kinds of ideas before—make a strong first impression, maybe get some benefits through cooperation. But now? Not a chance.
What the hell is this guy planning?!
“Hmm, then what are you afraid of? I couldn’t hurt you even if I tried.”
Lu Ce held Hell Roar in one hand, looking at him like he genuinely didn’t understand.
The bald guy’s lips trembled but he said nothing. Like hell you wouldn’t feel something with a gun in your face!
Then again, maybe you’d even get a thrill from it...
“That’s why people should take responsibility for their words. Don’t lie.”
“Let me ask one last time. The game definitely told you—I can’t hurt you right now, correct?”
“Mhm.” The bald guy nodded frantically and added, “Let’s talk rules first, yeah? No need for this—it doesn’t benefit you at all……”
Boom!
A deafening roar blasted through the interior of the cab.
In that sealed space, it was like a gas tank had exploded.
Hell Roar—had just let out its signature howl...
The sweat on the bald guy’s face instantly evaporated. His mouth hung wide open, eyes filled with unspeakable terror. His pupils were starting to scatter.
Lu Ce didn’t listen to a word—he just pulled the trigger!
But despite the power to blow the whole car apart, the shot caused no damage at all.
The barrel still smoking, its scorching heat pressed against the man’s forehead.
“You! Y-y-you you… what the h*ll are you doing!”
The bald guy screamed like a lunatic, nearly scared sh*tless.
Good thing he was physically strong, or he might’ve literally crapped himself.
Who does this kind of thing?!
What did I even say wrong?! Weren’t we getting along just fine a second ago? Why shoot me?!
“What’re you yelling for?” On the blue Greed Mask, an extremely puzzled expression appeared. (⊙o⊙)?
“It was just a pleasant little test.”
The bald guy’s lips turned pale, eyes filled with disbelief. He couldn’t understand—getting shot in the head was supposed to be a pleasant test?
You’re having fun, sure. Where’s the fun part for me?!
“No, bro, I admit I was rude earlier. I’m really sorry.”
He started sucking up hard.
But Lu Ce ignored him. He pulled out a die, casually rolled it—landed on a one—and clicked his tongue in amusement.
Before the bald guy could react—Bang! Another shot to the head!
But it missed.
Lu Ce wasn’t even sure how that was possible. With his skills, how could he miss?
“Hmm, seems like it’s true. I really can’t hurt you right now.”
Lu Ce nodded solemnly at the bald brute.
“Congratulations.”
Bald Guy: ?
Congratulations for what? Surviving you?
“I was just running a simple test to see how this game works,” Lu Ce said, hands spread wide.
“After all, I’m in a completely unfamiliar place. I don’t even know the game rules—I’m terrified, okay?~”
And just like that, Greed’s chatty nature kicked in.
Then, on the blue mask, a twisted smile appeared.
“So, when I don’t understand something, I might want to test it out—using some methods normal people might not accept.”
“So for the sake of your personal safety…”
“From now on, be honest, okay~.”
