Chapter 812 - 524: On the Road [14] Three Siblings Join the Show Together [Part 2]

Ever since meeting Dubois, Nora Scott inexplicably gained a label in people’s minds—the group darling.

People close to Nora almost naturally pampered her.

Giving her whatever she wanted.

Indulging her limitlessly.

That kind of unconscious indulgence was not the slightest bit deliberate, naturally revealing itself.

It made everyone watching feel like they were tasting lemons.

And, once everyone accepted this setting, and saw that all of Nora’s tasks were taken over by two brothers, Clement Winter and Eli Linfield, the public felt no waves in their hearts anymore.

Thanks to Nora, not only did the show get better effects, but the guests also had food to eat.

In the evening, Marcus Shaw and Nelson cooked together, making a whole table of food. Those who hadn’t eaten well for three days finally had a satisfying meal.

...

After dinner, while having a rare moment to play on her phone, Nora went back to her room and had a phone chat with Pedro Langley, until Oliver Scott and Marcus Shaw knocked on her door, prompting Nora to end the call with Pedro.

There were no cameras installed in single rooms, allowing for free conversation and actions without worrying about it being cut and broadcast by the crew later.

"What is it?"

Nora opened the door, casting a suspicious glance at the two of them.

Oliver got straight to the point: "The director of ’On the Road’ invited me and my brother to join the program. Sis, you’re our guardian, so we need your opinion. If you agree, we’ll go sign the contract with the production team."

Slightly taken aback, Nora tilted her head, "Not looking for Clarence?"

"This..."

Oliver hesitated, exchanging a glance with Marcus.

Marcus actively spoke, "The address Eli Linfield mentioned is the same as your destination this time."

Nora raised an eyebrow.

?

What a coincidence?

After pondering for a moment, Nora quickly made a decision, "Let’s do it together then."

"Alright."

Oliver nodded quickly.

Going on the show wasn’t anything to be excited about, but going on the show with Nora... that feeling was something entirely different.

Oliver always expected to uncover surprises from his dear sister Nora.

Nora then said, "Get Eli Linfield up here."

Oliver and Marcus both appeared slightly puzzled, but since Nora said so, they went to call him.

...

Soon, Eli, limping slightly, was dragged upstairs by the two brothers and pushed into the single room. His expression was utterly miserable.

This is unfair!

Even free labor wants to rebel!

Raging inside, Eli put on an ingratiating facade, offering a sheepish smile, "Nora, what’s up?"

Nora gave him a cold stare.

Eli nearly fell to his knees on the spot.

—He thought he’d behaved well tonight, so why had he upset the auntie again!

Sitting back in a wicker chair, Nora crossed her legs and sipped tea, asking lazily, "Do you know Clarence?"

"Yes." Eli nodded, "When he was around, I often went to drink with him. I really know his hometown’s address, not lying. Whether you can find him or not depends on fate."

Nora nodded slightly, casually deciding for him, "You should go too."

"Huh?"

Eli’s eyes widened in shock.

Nora squinted slightly, "Unwilling?"

"Willing, willing, willing." Eli didn’t dare refuse, "But aren’t you going to record the program?"

Nora said, "I’m not asking you to follow along. You go ahead and make sure everything is ready."

"...Okay."

No matter how reluctant, Eli nodded in agreement.

Rather than old acquaintances, Eli and Nora were more like debtor and creditor.

He owed Nora a pile of debts and favors, and there was no way he couldn’t repay them. If Nora instructed him to do something, he wouldn’t dare go west when directed east. He feared he wouldn’t handle things perfectly for Nora.

After a few seconds, Eli couldn’t help but ask, "But Clarence is just a drunkard, working as a locksmith to make a living. Why are you looking for him?"

Oliver and Marcus echoed a trace of doubt towards Nora’s reaction.

—Logically, this shouldn’t concern Nora.

They were looking for Clarence out of curiosity, with no big hopes. They could find the address from Eli and go themselves. However, asking Eli to go ahead and ensure everything was in order—did that not seem a bit too ceremonious?

"I have some questions for him."

Nora responded lazily, gesturing to the sofa with her chin for the others to sit down.

Clearly, she had more questions to ask.

Resting her chin on one hand, Nora inquired, "Is Clarence just a locksmith?"

Eli nodded, "Mhmm."

Nora said, "Tell me everything you know."

Unsure what Nora intended, Eli asked no further, answering truthfully.

"The elderly say he moved here over thirty years ago, got married, had kids, and settled down here, making a living as a locksmith. Life is poor but fairly manageable."

"About ten years ago, a car accident took his wife and child. Since then, he’s been listless, accompanied by alcohol."

"Clarence has a bad temper, and relations with neighbors aren’t good. Especially after his family passed, he became more irritable, getting into arguments over casual remarks. His reputation is pretty bad. People generally think he’s not a good person."

"I opened my shop here two years ago, and all the guesthouse locks were installed by him. We chatted a bit while he installed them, and I felt he was somewhat different—like someone with more stories than a small-town resident who hadn’t seen the world."

"I was curious, so I would bring him drinks every few days, trying to pry more out of him. But his mouth is really tight; he wouldn’t say a word, even drunk. Although I didn’t get his story, we did grow closer."

"He went back to his hometown half a year ago, saying there was no point in staying here. As he aged, with no family around, he thought about returning to his roots. So, he went back."

...

With closed eyes, Nora listened quietly to Eli’s words.

Pondering for a moment, Nora suddenly opened her eyes, a sharp glint flashing within, asking, "Did he ever mention ’Loulanel Plan’ or ’Mechanism City’?"
