Chapter 437 - 258: Master Pedro Drunk, Late-Night Conversation [Second Update]

"No words left to say?"

The unreasonable Nora Scott glanced over with a sidelong look.

Suddenly being wrongfully blamed and yet knowing he brought it on himself, Pedro Langley hurried to sincerely defend, "My criteria for a partner have always been based on you."

Nora shot him a cold look, "Learning this knack for ’sweet talk,’ you must have gained a lot of experience from others, huh?"

"No, just pure wit." Pedro’s face remained unchanged, not flustered in the least, and he smoothly changed the subject, "Bring some clothes over tonight; my wardrobe is quite empty."

"Why?"

Nora was puzzled.

Not forcing it, Pedro went with the flow, "Then I’ll pack clothes and come to your place tomorrow."

"Pushing it, aren’t you?"

Pedro remained calm, "If you don’t tie me to your side, I fear you’ll be suspicious and paranoid."

Nora hissed, teeth aching, and pulling the wound on her lip hurt. She sent a threatening look his way, "Say one more word?"

"..."

The jerk really said nothing more but made a gesture zipping his lips to indicate silence.

Nora, choking with frustration, stormed out, slamming the door and switching off the light with a bang.

Seeing this, Pedro bowed his head and chuckled softly.

With the soft blanket in hand, Pedro inhaled gently, still catching the scent from her lingering on it.

He sighed lightly.

Recalling the warmth in his arms, Pedro tossed aside the blanket, got up, and walked to the bathroom.

*

Nora didn’t go straight home.

She tidied her hair in front of a mirror, checked the swelling on her lip to ensure nothing was amiss, washed her face, and then left.

Back in the living room, Nora’s eyes swept over, raising an eyebrow in surprise.

Camilo Nogueira and Andrew Hughes sat side by side on a bench; Andrew had a workbook on the coffee table while Camilo patiently explained problems to him.

When she heard Camilo mention the "Pythagorean theorem," Nora’s mouth twitched. Staring at Andrew, she realized, startled, that he was listening intently, with his hands supporting his cheeks and eyes wide open.

"He’s resting?"

As the explanation paused, Camilo suddenly looked up at Nora, who saw his gaze briefly linger on her lip and T-shirt.

Retracting his gaze, Camilo inwardly cursed Pedro Langley as a beast.

Even drunk, he can’t be peaceful.

"Yeah." Nora mumbled in response, sauntering over, "Teaching him problems?"

"Yeah."

"Does he understand?"

"He understands." Camilo was rather surprised, "Hasn’t he been tested for IQ?"

"..."

Nora didn’t reply, just shrugged.

There were too many gifted people around her, but she didn’t have time to test everyone’s IQ.

"Nora."

Andrew put down his pen, curiously observing Nora, "Did you change your clothes?"

"..."

Nora’s face fell.

Camilo couldn’t hold it in, letting out a soft laugh that felt like a spring breeze, more becoming the image of a devious gentleman.

With a slight crook of his lips, Nora’s expression didn’t change. After a casual glance at Camilo, she fixed her gaze on Andrew again. Her tone was lazy yet carried a chill, "You’ve got a keen sense of observation."

"..."

Andrew immediately fell silent, shivering a bit.

Camilo, seeing the little boy’s movements, couldn’t help but feel pity. Thinking how could this woman even scare a child, he lightly patted Andrew’s back.

Camilo asked, "Do you know who proposed the Pythagorean theorem?"

Andrew, who initially wanted to avoid the hand on his back, felt his curiosity piqued by the question.

He shook his head.

"The Pythagorean theorem is one of humanity’s earliest discovered and proven mathematical theories, with about 500 methods of proof. In our country, during the Zhouel Dynasty..."

Camilo’s narrative was gentle and unhurried, containing an effortlessly calming power.

Before long, Andrew set aside Nora’s stare and became engrossed in Camilo’s storytelling.

Nora returned with a glass of water and seeing this, raised an eyebrow but didn’t interfere with them.

She went back to her room to work on her draft.

*

"... Mathematics is quite interesting, do you like it?"

Having ended his narration, Camilo saw Andrew listening intently and asked with interest.

"..."

Andrew furrowed his brows, pondering, without giving Camilo a reply.

He didn’t know whether he liked it or not.

Because being alone was too boring, he turned to math problems to pass the time.

But words like these, he wouldn’t share with an uncle he just met.

With a slight curve of his lips, Camilo didn’t force an answer, "It’s late today; you should rest. Uncle lives upstairs, so if you have any questions later, you can come up and ask me."

He rather liked this cool kid, someone who clicked with him instantly, similar to his younger brother when he was little.
