Chapter 324 - 207: Master Pedro Brushes Nora Scott’s Hair [Third Update]
Chapter 324 - 207: Master Pedro Brushes Nora Scott’s Hair [Third Update]
After dealing with this matter and mentioning it to Nora Scott, Pedro Langley found that she didn’t care at all—perhaps even less than an outsider. She didn’t even bother to glance at the online discussions.
Pedro Langley was at a loss with her.
"Did Katherine Collins contact you?" Pedro Langley had to steer the conversation elsewhere.
"Yes. She said she’ll come to Anchel in a few days to start shooting the documentary."
"Are you going to give it a shot?"
"I agreed."
Nora Scott agreed to the filming in Anchel this time.
The shoot wouldn’t take long, just a day or two, and it could be perfectly arranged after the music festival.
Besides, she was also quite curious to see if Katherine Collins’s so-called "Guaranteed Learning Success" was credible.
—That’s why she had been studying the book "Actor’s Self-cultivation" the past couple of days.
...
Pedro Langley dropped Nora Scott off at her apartment complex, only leaving after agreeing to pick her up the next morning.
He didn’t go inside because it was too late, and Nora Scott definitely wouldn’t let him stay the night.
Nora Scott opened the door to her place; it was already one o’clock in the morning.
Preparations for bed were interrupted by an email notification from Benjamin Durant.
It was about the "confession" of the Serendipity Pavilion’s owner.
As Nora Scott predicted, there was no reliable information. After careful sorting, three pieces of information stood out—
1. The counterfeiting gang hailed from Yangel. That area isn’t part of the northwest, with a diverse population and complex terrain, filled with numerous remote areas, making investigations challenging.
2. Initially, the dealings with the Serendipity Pavilion’s owner were handled by someone in the Martial World known as Black Snake. The owner has his photo, and this person could be a starting point.
3. The owner of the Serendipity Pavilion revealed the identities of everyone he dealt with. Similarly, it’s worth seeing if any useful information can be extracted from them, though there’s a high chance of alerting others.
With these running through her mind, Nora Scott instructed Benjamin Durant to look into the Black Snake and then left the rest unhandled, lying down and immediately falling asleep.
*
Next day.
To avoid waking up Nora Scott’s morning grumpiness, Pedro Langley waited until around eight to knock on her apartment door.
Unexpectedly, Nora Scott was still groggy and lacked energy.
"This early?"
Nora Scott’s sleepy voice sounded annoyed.
Pedro Langley lifted her head and playfully messed up her hair, instantly waking her up a notch.
"Were you out stealing last night?" Pedro Langley asked with a helpless smile.
"...Rushing a deadline."
Nora Scott brushed off his annoying hand.
She had slept only a short while and suddenly awoke, recalling the unfinished comic meant for Friday night’s update. So she worked overnight, finishing at five in the morning and sending it off to Kieran Shawn’s email.
She had only gotten three hours of sleep.
Seeing her struggling even to open her eyes, Pedro Langley held her with amusement, "Want me to help you brush your teeth, wash your face, and comb your hair?"
"No need."
Saying that, Nora Scott shuffled in her slippers to freshen up.
Five minutes later—
"Pedro Langley!"
Nora Scott’s fiery voice came from the bedroom.
Hearing her voice, Pedro Langley felt an ominous premonition, raised an eyebrow, but didn’t dare to disappear, so he strolled toward the bedroom.
Nora Scott was in the bathroom with the door open. She stood in front of the mirror, a toothbrush in her mouth, brushing her hair with one hand without much care, pulling forcefully. The already tangled bottom of her hair only deepened her frustration and pain caused by this crude method.
Upon hearing Pedro Langley’s footsteps, Nora Scott shot a cold glare at him.
"My bad," Pedro Langley quickly admitted fault and then walked over, saying with sincere intent, "Let me help you comb it."
Nora Scott continued glaring at him as he reached out, took the comb from her.
Once her hand was free, Nora Scott calmed down, took the toothbrush and threatened, "If you touch my hair again, I’ll cut off your hand."
"Alright."
Pedro Langley didn’t argue with a woman suffering from morning grumpiness and severe lack of sleep.
Picking up a lock of her hair, he held the top strand and slowly, with utmost patience, combed through the tangled hair.
Bit by bit, his movements were gentle, and Nora Scott only felt a slight tug on her scalp, with no pain involved.
Nora Scott put the toothbrush back into her mouth, brushed a few times, then suddenly looked up. Through the mirror, she saw the man standing behind her.
He had his head down, slightly drooping his eyelids, long lashes casting a faint shadow below his eyes. His gaze was focused and serious. His hands were good-looking, with long fingers and clear knuckles, under the bathroom’s cool white light, giving them a cool and soft texture, every contour smooth.
She watched in a daze for a while. Nora Scott, full of anger and irritability, suddenly found peace.
She lowered her eyes and quietly continued to brush her teeth. Occasionally, her peripheral vision would lift, catching glimpses of the man in the mirror behind her.
"There, all done."
After a few minutes, with her hair smoothed out, Pedro Langley let out a small sigh of relief.
Her hair was smooth and shiny, with an excellent texture. As his hand picked up a lock, his fingers ran through her hair, the soft strands lifting and falling, like the finest silk fluttering in the air.
His fingertips unintentionally brushed her scalp, the warmth from it making Nora Scott’s scalp suddenly tense.
"You’re dismissed."
She spoke in a deliberately haughty tone, as if she were a queen overlooking her court.
"..."
A breath he had held rose, and Pedro Langley couldn’t help but rub her hair again, taking his frustration out that way.
Turning her head, Nora Scott looked at him, distressed. Her mouth was still foamy with toothpaste, but her words were clear, "Don’t you value your hand?"
Pedro Langley stood with his hands behind his back, his stance tall and straight. After a chilly laugh, he replied, "Just a hand, I’m giving it to you."
"..."
Never did she expect such a comeback, and Nora Scott blinked.
"Then, do you, from now on..."
Nora Scott spoke slowly, her gaze lowering.
Pedro Langley’s face darkened, immediately lifting his hand to cover her view.
"..."
Silence, awkwardness.
Nora Scott felt darkness in front of her eyes, followed by a warm hand covering her brows and eyes, its rough texture broad, causing her a slight pause.
She blinked, her lashes brushing against Pedro Langley’s palm like feathers tickling, itchy.
Both of them froze for a moment, and after a few seconds, Pedro Langley withdrew his hand, their eyes exchanging glances.
Simultaneously, they both recalled something, as the awkwardness gradually permeated the room.
"Ahem," Nora Scott turned her head away, clearing her throat, "This time, I’ll let it slide, once, no more."
Pedro Langley squinted slightly, biting his back teeth, feeling his jawline shift a bit, "Thank you?"
She rinsed her mouth with water, discreetly exhaled, and answered calmly: "You’re welcome."
"..."
Pedro Langley gritted his teeth.
Remembering the emotions from before being abandoned, Pedro Langley’s mood soured quite a bit.
He rubbed her hair once more before finally turning to leave.
This time, Nora Scott didn’t react to his action, she turned on the faucet, leaned down, and washed her face.
*
After freshening up, Nora Scott changed her clothes, feeling much more refreshed.
From the complex to next door, it was only a ten-minute walk. Nora Scott initially intended to stroll over with Pedro Langley but recalling the small episode during the hair-combing made her abandon the idea, choosing instead to get in Pedro Langley’s car, driving straight to their destination.
"Tofu Shop?"
Pedro Langley almost choked at such a straightforward sign.
"Yes."
Nora Scott nodded calmly, unbuckling her seatbelt.
"Can’t you come up with a name more in tune with your identity?" Pedro Langley furrowed his brow.
"What?"
"Something like Swords and Shadows, Heroic Martial World, Wandering Heroes..." Following a string of suggestions, sensing Nora Scott’s slightly murderous gaze, Pedro Langley wisely changed his tone, "At worst, Tofu Belle could work too."
"..."
The answer was the sound of Nora Scott closing the door.
Pedro Langley chuckled softly, got out of the car, and walked into the Tofu Shop with Nora Scott.
However—
Upon entering, they were met with four sharp, scrutinizing gazes.
The air was thick with menace.
