Chapter 598

Chapter 598

"Are we allowed to be here?"

With nervous expressions, Tis and Citri exchanged glances, and Amon shook his head.

"Of course. Lord Gyobu Yatanuki is the chief of the neighboring tribe. Citri will likely return to the Fox  territory someday. And, well, Tis, you'll probably have many opportunities to meet him in the future too."

"Ah, r-right. Understood."

As he spoke with a hint of embarrassment, Tis also snapped to attention and nodded.

"Brother Amon and Sister Tis, you two are already so close, huh?"

"Wha...?!"

Citri seized the moment with a smug smile, causing both Amon and Tis to blush in unison.

It was a scene that felt oddly familiar.

"My, my. It seems the future of the Grandork family and the heir situation are both secure."

"Ah, Sister?!"

Even Rafa joined in teasing, and Amon's face turned even redder.

Feeling a sense of camaraderie, I found myself patting his shoulder.

"Amon, welcome to this side."

"Uh,Ridd, what do you mean by 'this side'? And why are you smiling so much?"

"Somehow, seeing the two of you like this makes me happy."

"No, no, I don't get it at all."

As Amon remained red-faced and confused, I looked at him with a gentle gaze.

While everyone was chatting, the charcoal cart carrying Lord Gyobu arrived.

It passed through the mansion's gate and came to a stop in front of the entrance.

As the Fox tribe  warriors opened the door of the towed carriage, a relaxed-looking Tanuki man stepped out, a cigarette in his mouth.

His attire was more reminiscent of a suit from my past life than the Empire's style.

He wore a brown suit with a long black coat that reached his feet.

His short gray hair was complemented by sunglasses, making it hard to see his eyes.

Soon, he smirked and extended his hand.

"Long time no see, Amon."

"Lord Gyobu. Thank you for coming today. But could you please refrain from smoking? Some of us are sensitive to the smell."

"My apologies."

Gyobu raised his hand dramatically, pulling out a portable ashtray from his pocket and stubbing out the cigarette.

"I'd toss it in my own territory, but I figured I'd get scolded here. So I brought this."

"Then perhaps it would be better not to smoke at all," Amon replied with a smile.

Gyobu shrugged, enjoying the banter. "You're harsh, aren't you?"

"By the way, is that the infamous maverick, Ridd Baldia?"

"Yes, that's correct."

As I nodded in response to his gaze, I stepped forward and extended my hand.

"However, when asking someone's name, shouldn't you introduce yourself first? Lord Gyobu Yatanuki, chieftain of the Tanuki tribe. Also, this is our first meeting. Unless there's a compelling reason, you should at least remove your sunglasses when greeting someone."

"My, my. I heard Lord Ridd was a kind man, but you're even harsher than Amon."

"I don't know what you've heard, but I simply respond to courtesy with courtesy."

As we shook hands, I deliberately narrowed my eyes, and he let out a light whistle, joking, "Scary, aren't you?" as he removed his sunglasses.

His exposed eyes were surprisingly gentle, with brown irises glinting in the sunlight.

"Let me reintroduce myself. I'm Gyobu Yatanuki, chief of the Tanuki tribe. Nice to meet you."

"Lidd Baldia. Likewise."

He had a carefree, light demeanor, and his actions were oddly endearing.

He was indeed a hard-to-read character. After finishing the greeting, Gyobu promptly put his sunglasses back on.

"Now, actually, there are some people who came with me today. Has the messenger arrived yet?"

"Messenger...?"

Amon and I exchanged glances, but neither of us had heard anything about it.

"No, we haven't received any word yet."

As Amon answered with a puzzled look, Gyobu placed a hand on his forehead and looked up at the sky. "Oh dear. I thought so."

"I sent them from the border, but it seems the charcoal cart was faster."

"I see. So, Lord Gyobu, who are these people who came with you?"

As Amon asked again, a low female voice chimed in. "That would be me."

Turning around, we saw a large figure, over seven feet tall (about 210 cm), clad in a cloak that covered their entire body and face, stepping out of the towed carriage.

As we tilted our heads in confusion, the figure slowly removed their hood.

The next moment, Amon's eyes widened. "Y-you are?!" The surrounding warriors also wore expressions of shock.

"Everyone, my apologies for the surprise. I am Sekmetos Bestia."

"Wha...?!"

Sekmetos Bestia was the current Beast King of Zveela.

Her thin, shimmering golden hair flowed, and her sharp eyes glowed with a pale blue hue.

Her right face was covered by an iron mask, giving her the appearance of a battle-hardened warrior.

As we stared in shock, she continued, "And also..." At that moment, a small white shadow darted out of the towed carriage at an incredible speed.

In the next instant, a young Catkin boy with the same skin, hair, and eye color as Sekmetos appeared before me.

"You must be ridd Baldia."

Before I could react, he unleashed a sharp claw.

It happened so quickly that even Capella and Tink couldn't intervene.

I instinctively deployed a magic barrier, blocking  his strike as a high-pitched sound echoed around us.

"Whoa! Impressive, impressive! This is the first time someone my age has stopped my attack."

He sounded delighted, but I was far from amused.

"What are you talking about?"

I pushed her back with the barrier, but she flipped backward and landed gracefully on the towed carriage.

He agility was astounding.

He smirked confidently, pointing at me with his hand on his hip.

"I've decided. You, be my wife. And together, we'll produce the world's strongest child, a mix of our blood."

I was too stunned to respond. "Huh...?"

But soon, anger surged within me.

"I'm a man! How could I possibly bear a child?!"

My furious shout echoed throughout the estate.

But he tilted his head in confusion.

"What are you talking about? You're a girl dressed as a boy, right?"

"Huh?!"

I let out an involuntary, incredulous sound, but the stares from those around me made me freeze.

The Foxkin warriors were looking at me with expressions that seemed to say, "Could it be...?"

This couldn't be happening. My head was pounding from the excitement.

Trying to calm myself, I took a deep breath, but he suddenly leaned in, sniffing me.

"W-what are you doing now?"

"Well, you smell so sweet and nice. You must be a girl."

"Wha...?!"

As I stood there bewildered, he hugged me tightly, sniffing at my neck.

I felt a shiver run down my spine and pushed him away by his shoulders.

"I told you, I'm a man! And who are you, anyway?"

"Don't be shy, Lidd. And my name is..."

As he flashed a bright smile and was about to introduce himself, Sekmetos's low voice boomed.

"That's enough."

Her fist came down on his head.

"Ouch! Mother, that's cruel. I was just trying to woo my future wife."

"I told you to stop. No matter how good he smells, Ridd is a boy. And such things are rare."

"Wha...?!"

Rubbing his head, he blinked in disbelief.

"But he's so cute and smells so nice. He's really a boy?"

"That's right. No matter how cute or nice-smelling, I'm a man and already married."

As I said this, he tilted his head. "Married?"

"It means he already has a wife."

"Wow! That's amazing."

At Sekmetos's explanation, his eyes widened, and he approached me again.

"Then, Lidd, hurry up and have your wife bear a girl. Then we can mix your blood with mine and create a child."

"Th-that's impossible! And I still don't even know your name!"

As I raised my voice, he stuck out his tongue and bowed slightly.

"Right, right. Let me introduce myself properly. I'm Johan Bestia, son of the Beast King Sekmetos Bestia. Nice to meet you, Lidd."

"Y-you're Johan Bestia?!"

From his earlier interaction with Sekmetos, I had some idea, but hearing it directly still left me speechless.

"That's enough of that."

An unfamiliar female voice chimed in, and as I turned, I saw a new figure stepping out of the towed carriage.
