Chapter 252 I Only Have One Brother
Chapter 252 I Only Have One Brother
"I’m a full-grown man! You can’t keep me here! Let go of me! I’ll take responsibility for what I did!" Serbian Howard’s loud screams echoed through a hallway of the psychiatric hospital as he was dragged into a ward by three people.
Standing in the hallway with the psychiatrist in charge of him were Thomas Howard, his father and Cole Howard, his grandfather.
Neither Thomas nor Cole batted an eye at his screams, casually continuing their discussion with the doctor like there was nothing happening.
"He’s my heir, so I understand all the codings he’s been looking at have affected him wrongly. Promise to treat him effectively."
"Of course, Mr. Howard. He’ll be as shiny as a brand-new toy in a few minutes!" Promised the doctor, flashing Cole the brightest smile.
"That prick lied to me! He fucking lied to me! I’ll kill him with my bare hands! Open this gate! Open this stupid gate!" Serbian’s enraged voice resonated for a few more seconds before it slowly dwindled as a needle was stuck into his neck, causing him to fall asleep in seconds.
After taking care of him, the duo left the building.
"How’s the public taking the news about our son?" Cole questioned once they were inside their car.
Thomas picked up his phone to scroll through the internet.
A moment later, he broke into a wide grin seeing the netizens were taking it the way they hoped.
"Like we thought, they know nothing about the case. This means we can sweep everything under the rug."
Cole was silent for a while before he glanced down at him, "What do we know about this Kelsie Sutton?"
"Mother of three. Worked at Haven’s Medical Center where she quickly became everyone’s favorite doctor before leaving to open her own practice." Thomas promptly responded.
Cole didn’t realize when he exhaled in relief.
"I see. Since the police are keeping this under wraps, we’ll also act oblivious. Do you hear me?"
"Of course, Father." Thomas nodded in understanding, then beckoned for the driver to start the car.
He did as instructed, but a second later, the car hurled them forward before coming to an absurd halt.
They were just about to put on their seatbelts, so they slammed their heads against the seats in front of them.
"Forgive me, sirs, but there’s a car blocking our way, and it doesn’t seem to be leaving." The driver nervously informed them before they could lash out at him.
"Call security, then." Thomas hissed, wincing slightly as he pressed a palm against his temple.
The words had barely left his mouth when a knock sounded on the side of his window.
He paused and looked outside.
Recognizing the coat on the man as that of a butler’s, his frowned deepened and he rolled down the window to glare at the person.
"Who are you?"
"My friend and I would like to see your son." Responded the butler, naturally peeking into the vehicle.
Thomas’ eyes dimmed. "What... son?"
The butler almost laughed at his feigned confusion, but decided to play along and began explaining.
"You know, your son. The heir of your family? The one who shot a woman at the courthouse today? Still doesn’t ring any bells?"
"Didn’t you see the news? He’s currently in..."
Realizing this butler whom he had never met before knew exactly what he was talking about, Thomas was saying dismissively, attempting to roll up the window when the butler suddenly reached through the window and gripped him by the throat.
As if performing a film trick, he physically dragged him out through the small window and threw him onto the ground.
Cole was perplexed, and Daniel, who was strutting toward them, didn’t know when he cackled.
"Hey, that was cool. Do they teach this where you’re from?"
The butler hummed. "Master taught me. He said to use it whenever a pompous rich prick thinks he can look down on me and get away with it."
"Do you have any idea who I am? How dare you?!" Thomas screamed from the ground, battling to pry away the butler’s insanely strong grip.
"I honestly don’t know who you are, but I know my Master won’t care and I already have the order to stomp all over you until you release your son to us."
Inside the car, Cole panicked slightly at those words and glared at the driver.
"What are you still waiting for? Call security!"
The driver nodded and hurriedly got out to do as instructed.
Daniel and the butler saw this but didn’t react.
After he left, Daniel walked over to the door where Thomas had been seated.
Looking into Cole’s eyes, he shrugged.
"Good afternoon. My brother sent me. He said to peacefully ask for your grandson. We won’t sue and will return him once we get the answer we deserve."
Hearing him, it didn’t take Cole long to figure out what Daniel was talking about.
After all, the only people who could sue the Howard family were the family of the woman currently in a coma.
But the Sutton family barely had a backbone now. The head of the family was in jail, and so was his wife.
His daughter had disgraced herself in front of national TV and couldn’t bring herself to come out anymore.
Whoever this person was, he was probably a distant member of the family who had shown up to handle matters.
A small fry like him wasn’t worth his time.
Hence, he folded both hands across his chest and snickered, "You beat up my son, then threaten to sue the Howard family? What a joke. You have no proof about what happened, so what makes you think you’ll take us to court and win?"
Daniel saw his grandfather in every elderly man he encountered, so he was often respectful when speaking to them no matter how awful they were.
So it was no surprise that he didn’t get offended and spoke calmly.
"To be honest, my brother doesn’t think suing will get us anywhere. He doesn’t want to go below the belt either. But, you see, recently... we made a new friend."
"Th-that’s him!" The driver’s loud voice abruptly echoed behind him and Daniel turned to see he had returned with a horde of security.
The moment he saw them, the butler released his grip on Thomas and stepped back, raising both hands in surrender.
Seeing this, Cole felt he had regained the upper hand and opened the door to alight.
Clasping both hands behind his back as he looked the butler over, he frowned hard, realizing the little twat still had the same smug smile, irritating the daylight out of him.
Humiliated, Thomas promptly got on his feet and glared hard at the butler.
Trembling all over in rage, he proceeded to threaten them through clenched teeth, "For laying your filthy hands on me, I will break both your legs and that of your so-called mas..."
He trailed off when one of the security guards suddenly stepped to the front, calling out in surprise, "Mr. Adler, is that you?"
Daniel paused and turned toward the voice.
Before he could say anything, Thomas scrunched his nose in annoyance.
"You peasants know each other?"
At this, the security guard hurriedly lowered his eyes to the floor, "F-forgive me, sir. We’ve known Mr. Adler for a long time as the Adler Group regularly donates to the hospital and gives us better job at the company."
Thomas was blinded by his rage toward what the butler had done to him and didn’t want to hear anymore, but the mention of Adler Group unsurprisingly tickled Cole’s ears.
"By Adler, do you mean..."
"Daniel Adler of the Adler family. I was once privileged to see Jett Adler because of him." Another security guard answered instead, beaming shyly.
Instantly, Cole’s and Thomas’ expression changed.
Seeing this, Daniel’s lips twitched in amusement.
"Then... the lady..." Just to be certain, Thomas was going to confirm, but his voice trembled too hard to continue the question.
Daniel shrugged and slipped both hands into his pocket, staring into his eyes stoically, "The one your son shot? That’s my sister-in-law. And I only have one brother."
