Chapter 311: The Magicless Hall’s Traps [1]

Chapter 311: The Magicless Hall’s Traps [1]

Before him stood a gigantic pair of ancient gates embedded directly into the center of the mountain itself.

The structure looked ancient beyond belief. Massive cracks covered the stone. Dark symbols glowed faintly across its surface.

And from behind the gates... A terrifying aura continuously leaked outward.

"Good job," Leon smiled while patting the skeleton’s skull lightly.

The undead nodded excitedly. Then Leon slowly approached the gates alongside the remaining skeletons.

Yet the closer he got, the stranger he felt. At first, it was subtle. But after only a few more steps, Leon’s expression changed completely.

"My [Spirit]..."

He could feel it vanishing. Not weakening. Not being restrained. Actually disappearing. Every step closer to the gate drained more magical energy from his body.

Inside the regular [Exiled Lands], Leon could at least force spells through the suppression due to his monstrous [Spirit] stat.

But near these gates... Magic completely ceased to function. He couldn’t even feel mana properly anymore.

Which meant one thing. Inside this place, Leon would be forced to rely entirely on physical combat. Against an opponent strong enough to guard the [Magicless Core].

Leon slowly exhaled, "No matter," he muttered calmly.

Then he placed both hands against the giant stone gate.

Countless glowing symbols lit up across the walls surrounding the entrance as if the temple itself had awakened after sensing Leon’s presence.

And immediately afterward, a panel appeared before him.

Ding!

[Strong mage player detected.]

[All Spirit will be drained, only the physically strong may take the "Magicless Core" from its previous holder.]

[Welcome to the "Magicless Temple"]

Leon immediately felt just how terrifying the gate truly was the moment he pushed against it, because even with all of his current strength, the massive stone doors barely moved at first, their ancient surface grinding loudly as if they had not been opened for countless years.

The sheer weight behind them was absurd.

Leon planted both of his feet firmly against the ground and pushed harder, veins bulging slightly on his arms as the marble floor beneath him cracked from the pressure.

"Damn thing weighs a mountain," he muttered while forcing the gate open inch by inch.

At that moment, Leon understood something important: this temple was impossible for ordinary players.

A normal mage would never even make it past the entrance, because without their magic, they simply lacked the raw physical strength required to push the doors open in the first place.

Even warriors would struggle unless they specialized heavily in strength or arrived with an entire party to force the gate open together.

And that was assuming they even managed to find the temple hidden among the endless maze of mountains outside.

The deeper Leon went into the [Exiled Lands], the more he realized just how cruel the [Awakener Lord] truly was.

After several long minutes of pushing with all his strength, the giant gate finally opened completely with a thunderous rumble, allowing Leon to finally look inside the [Magicless Temple].

And what he saw immediately made him frown.

"...What the hell?"

Beyond the gate stood an enormous marble hall stretching so far into the distance that Leon could barely even see the end of it.

The place was gigantic. Far too gigantic.

Based on the outside structure of the mountains, this hall should have pierced through several mountains at once, which made absolutely no sense logically.

Then again, logic had stopped mattering in [Eternal Ascension] a very long time ago.

Leon had already seen impossible monsters, god-rank assessments, and places capable of devouring souls themselves.

Compared to that, a temple breaking the laws of space was honestly one of the least surprising things he had encountered recently.

"Well," Leon shrugged while stepping forward, "guess reality stopped making sense a while ago anyway."

He motioned with his hand, and all twenty-five of his undead moved with him immediately.

The skeleton carrying Celeste’s phoenix flame remained in the middle of the formation while the others surrounded it protectively, their hollow green eyes glowing inside the darkness of the temple.

Surprisingly enough, the gate behind them did not close. Leon noticed that immediately.

Usually every dungeon, realm, or challenge area sealed itself the moment someone entered, trapping players inside until they either completed the task or died trying.

But this temple left the entrance completely open behind him. It was almost as if the temple itself was telling Leon that he was free to leave whenever he wanted.

Or perhaps... It expected people to run away.

"Hm."

Leon narrowed his eyes slightly but kept moving forward without hesitation.

He had already come this far. There was no point stopping now.

The marble hall remained eerily silent as Leon walked through it, his footsteps echoing softly while giant pillars stretched upward on both sides of the corridor.

Then suddenly—

Click!

Leon’s instincts exploded with danger. Without even thinking, he immediately raised his sword.

SHING!

Three massive arrows burst from hidden holes in the wall at terrifying speed, each one large enough to pierce through a human body entirely.

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

Leon barely managed to deflect all three arrows with his blade, but even then, the sheer impact behind them forced him several steps backward.

His arms shook slightly afterward.

"...A trap." Leon’s expression darkened instantly. And not just any trap either.

If those arrows had hit him directly, they would have seriously injured him, perhaps even killed him outright if they struck a vital point.

This temple truly was designed around raw physical ability alone.

Reaction speed. Strength. Constitution. Without magic, players had to survive purely through their bodies.

Leon slowly exhaled before glancing toward his undead army.

"Well," he sighed, "guess that makes things easier."

He pointed forward calmly, "Go ahead and trigger every trap inside this hall until there’s nothing left."

The skeletons obeyed immediately without hesitation.

One after another, they marched forward through the corridor while Leon stayed safely behind them.

And the moment they advanced...

BOOM!

Another set of giant arrows burst downward from the ceiling, instantly obliterating three skeletons.

Then immediately after—

SWOOOSH!

A gigantic axe swung out from one of the marble pillars, cutting two more undead apart in a single attack.

CRASH!

A massive hammer descended from above moments later, smashing several skeletons into piles of shattered bones while hidden pits suddenly opened beneath the floor to swallow others whole.

The traps were endless. And absurdly deadly. Even Leon felt a chill while watching them activate repeatedly.

"How the hell is someone supposed to survive this normally?"
