Chapter 369 CHAPTER 369 - Secured, Outburst, Dragged into the Battlefield
Blackbeard held Charles in one hand, black smoke enveloping him as he infused another application of the Dark-Dark Fruit's power into Charles' body.
A Mythical Zoan fruit—truly rare.
"You come too," Blackbeard said to Rosen.
"BOSS!" Robin worried, feeling the immense pressure from these villains. Sweat beaded on her forehead, but above all, she feared for her BOSS's safety.
"It's fine." At this point, Rosen would not hesitate. Letting Blackbeard help at this moment increased the success rate. He understood Blackbeard's nature.
The real concern was whether Blackbeard would hide attacks or tricks within the transferred Devil Fruit power, turning it against him. Rosen had to stay vigilant; at this point, there was no room for error.
"Though the process is cruel, none of you here are innocent, so I won't hold back," Blackbeard said. Black smoke seeped into Charles' body, rousing him from unconsciousness. He writhed violently, screaming in agony.
His body twisted with the struggle. Soon, Charles was near death, and Blackbeard's smoke-filled hand seemed to clutch something. Slowly, he extended it toward Rosen's heart. His face was calm, but inside, he was pleased.
Crocodile might understand the Dark-Dark Fruit, but not as thoroughly as him. Killing him now would net another Logia fruit—how convenient.
"Die."
"Wait…" Rosen said, watching Blackbeard's hand, then glanced at Robin. She understood—it was the prearranged signal.
Robin unlocked the Seastone cuffs on Charles, causing him to swell and regain some vitality. He tried to escape but was restrained by Rosen.
"So you really plan to trick me," Rosen said. Hathaway slashed toward the battlefield with a Devil's Slash, obliterating everything in its path, the sword energy spanning half the island.
"Stop it!" Blackbeard's expression darkened. Basilisk leapt forward, intercepting the sword energy with a punch infused with Armament Haki, blood covering his fist.
"Misunderstanding… I forgot to extract the ability completely, let's try again," Blackbeard said with a forced smile, showing no real sincerity.
The sand-crocodile clearly had a detailed plan and some understanding of Rosen. He had intended to steal the power for his crew and solve a problem in one move, ideally killing to gain another Logia fruit. But he was foiled.
"One more mistake, and we won't talk," Rosen said grimly, his Conqueror's Haki radiating with his mood, pressuring Blackbeard.
"This young one is impressive. When I roamed the Grand Line, he was just a rookie. Now he already possesses such remarkable Conqueror's Haki," Pizarro noted in surprise.
"Relax! I'm sincere," Blackbeard said, activating his power again. Charles screamed one final time before the ability left him, and he died.
"Just your hand is enough, right?" Rosen extended his palm. If Blackbeard had any tricks, at worst, Rosen could sever his arm.
"Your hand is sufficient," Blackbeard smiled, acting harmless. Rosen wondered why he hadn't hidden the act with cloth, then realized it was partly showmanship and partly to avoid exposing his power fully.
"Hey, don't get nervous… we're the ones taking the hit now," Blackbeard teased Hathaway and Enel, who ignored him entirely.
"Here we go." Blackbeard grasped Rosen's hand, black smoke enveloping his arm. This time, he played no tricks—the second chance would come only after the transfer succeeded.
No one could threaten Blackbeard and walk away unscathed, hahaha…
"It really is power!" Rosen felt the strange black smoke infuse his body, tearing sensation coursing through him. If his body wasn't strong enough, it would have shredded him. He planned to later transfer it to Robin to spare himself further pain.
"Almost done!" Blackbeard's expression turned vicious.
"Complete!" As he spoke, Rosen's mind and body blanked briefly, as if struck.
Damn! Did Blackbeard try to ambush him? Rosen panicked for a moment, unable to control his body.
"Move them to the battlefield to play with the Marines. You think I ambushed you, but I didn't. My power has a trait: forcibly transferred abilities require a moment to adapt—hahaha, that's my attack!" Blackbeard laughed maniacally.
His Haki-wrapped fist struck Rosen solidly, crushing his chest, breaking bones, and launching him like a missile toward the battlefield.
Even Blackbeard couldn't kill Rosen in one blow; weapons wouldn't suffice either. He used a simple punch to avoid giving Rosen a chance to react.
"Bastard!" Hathaway and the others seethed. Rosen didn't fully understand the Dark-Dark Fruit, only predicting known dangers. The adaptation period was unknown to anyone but the Devil Fruit user.
As Blackbeard acted, Basilisk, Pizarro, and others attacked simultaneously. Hathaway and Enel intercepted most of the blows, though the others were pushed toward the battlefield, following Rosen.
"Chase them? Maybe we could kill a few,"
"No, hide. Don't let him expose us and draw the Marines. Not the right time," Blackbeard said, abandoning pursuit. Staying hidden was essential; this kept Marine HQ from mobilizing large forces, especially with Whitebeard in the fray.
"Blackbeard!" Rosen realized he had crashed through part of Marine Headquarters, launched from a destroyed sign, walls shattering around him.
Damn! Blackbeard was crazy and dangerous. But the Devil Fruit ability was secured. Not bad, though the aftermath would be messy.
Still, this was expected. Participating in the Summit War included plans to hinder Akainu, who had caused Rosen great loss and nearly killed Robin. If the chance arose, killing him would be ideal, though timing differed from Rosen's plan.
"Who's there!?" Marines and pirates on the battlefield noticed the sudden collapse of part of Marine Headquarters.
