One Pet Gets Married

Chapter 7

Chapter 7

"You, don't come any closer!" Song Xici startled, instantly pushing against Tang You'an's shoulders.

Fresh from her bath, Tang You'an's body was still warm. As Song Xici's fingertips made contact, that warmth seeped through her skin. The phrase "soft jade, fragrant warmth" inexplicably flashed through her mind.

Shaking her head, Song Xici smacked her forehead and swallowed hard before issuing a no-contact order: "From now on, no matter where we are, you must keep at least a meter's distance from me!"

She had assumed Tang You'an, being from ancient times, would be a naive girl, struggling to understand or accept same-sex relationships. That's why she had boldly come over in just a towel. But it seemed she was mistaken!

Seeing Song Xici's strong reaction, Tang You'an paused, then slowly straightened up and stepped back, bowing slightly: "If I've offended you, I sincerely apologize. May I ask what exactly I've done to upset you, Miss Song?"

"You... you're asking me? Do you realize your actions just now..."

"Hmm?" Tang You'an genuinely didn't understand what she had done wrong.

"It was very domineering CEO-like, very... it made me think you were trying to seduce me!" Song Xici's eyes were wide.

"Seduce..." Tang You'an glanced at the bathtub, then suddenly frowned, "Xici, you're too harsh. How could I be so ungrateful? I would never immerse you in water!"

Song Xici stared at her, opening and closing her mouth, unable to speak for a long time.

How could she explain that "seduce" didn't mean literal immersion?

"No... that's not what 'seduce' means here. It's... your behavior and words just now made it seem like you had improper intentions towards me. If you really did, I'd divorce you immediately and throw you out on the street, letting someone pick up your clueless self for research and dissection!" Song Xici felt her IQ dropping rapidly after dealing with Tang You'an for such a short time.

Hearing this, Tang You'an sighed in relief: "I see, so that's how it is... I asked that way earlier only because I had heard such theories before, and Xici, you do smell quite fragrant, so I inquired..."

Song Xici froze for a second, feeling her intelligence truly offline: "Is, is that so?"

Tang You'an looked at her, smiling gently, and nodded.

"Holy crap..." Song Xici's face instantly flushed to her neck. She had completely misunderstood, leaving her utterly bewildered.

"Please rest assured, Xici. I will absolutely not do anything you forbid me to do," Tang You'an added.

"Oh... alright then..." Song Xici nodded.

"But Xici, your face is suddenly so red. Are you feeling unwell? Does this happen often? I..."

"No... no, oh forget it, stop reading my face! I'm going to sleep, goodnight!" Song Xici fled the scene.

Tang You'an watched her leave, narrowing her eyes slightly. There shouldn't be any ill omens in the near future... Thinking this, she smiled, then turned back to fumble with the light switch before exiting.

As she left, she glanced back at the room once more.

This place was truly marvelous, with such incredible lighting devices.

Meanwhile, Song Xici returned to her room, closed the door, changed into pajamas, and flopped onto the bed, finally exhaling deeply.

Damn it. That girl doesn't play by the rules at all. How embarrassing!

Never mind, sleep, sleep.

Putting on a Naruto eye mask, Song Xici turned off the lights.

Back in her room, Tang You'an continued to fiddle with the "phone" gadget.

The screen was filled with colorful little squares, some with red numbers in the top right corner. She had no idea what they meant.

She wanted to tap each one to see, but drowsiness overwhelmed her, so she had to sleep.

This bed was the best and softest she had ever slept on. Tang You'an fell asleep sweetly soon after lying down and covering herself.

When she woke the next day, it was already bright.

Cool sunlight streamed in through the window, illuminating the room. Tang You'an got up and opened the "wardrobe door," stepping inside.

The room's layout was ingenious, a room within a room. She had been quite surprised when she first saw it.

Inside, the left side was filled with various clothing styles, sorted by season. On the right were shoes in one column, various bags and backpacks in another, and accessories in yet another.

It was as luxurious as a royal residence. Tang You'an never imagined that her death would grant her all this.

Finally, she casually selected some clothes to change into and opened the bedroom door to leave.

At this time, Song Xici was still sleeping soundly.

After all, she had been constantly filming between "Merfolk of the Azure Sea" and "I Want to Propose" for the past few days, barely getting any rest. So now, with some free time, she naturally wanted to catch up on sleep.

Tang You'an initially wanted to find her but feared upsetting her again, so she decided against it.

She felt she had already made several mistakes since arriving.

But she was hungry. And she believed regular meals were important, something that should matter to Song Xici too.

So Tang You'an waited with her phone, until the sun was high in the sky, but still Song Xici didn't rise. She paced around the entire house.

Finally unable to wait any longer, Tang You'an knocked on Song Xici's door.

After knocking three times, a weak "Coming..." came from inside.

When the door opened, Song Xici stood there with her phone, running a hand through her messy hair: "What is it..."

"It should be noon now," Tang You'an said tactfully.

Song Xici checked her phone: "It's eleven-thirty... So?"

"I'm hung... I mean, I'm hungry," Tang You'an said.

"Oh..." Song Xici nodded, then drifted out, "Alright, I'll cook for you, cook... Oh, what a mother I've become..."

Song Xici rarely ordered takeout, firstly because she often encountered overly excited delivery drivers who recognized her, and secondly because takeout wasn't clean and her stomach was sensitive. She could make do on set, but at home she preferred to cook herself. So yesterday afternoon, she had asked Chen Shihan to buy some groceries.

"Why don't I cook for you instead? You can rest a bit more and regain your energy," Tang You'an suggested, seeing the lingering exhaustion on her face.

"You really know how to cook?!" Song Xici asked.

"I know a little," Tang You'an replied.

"Well... alright!" Song Xici was curious about what ancient cooking would taste like.

Afterward, Song Xici led Tang You'an to the kitchen and demonstrated again how to use the gas stove, faucet, and other appliances.

"Wait. You won't burn the house down, will you? Show me how to do everything I just taught you!" Song Xici was still uneasy.

"Alright," Tang You'an nodded and repeated everything as instructed.

Fortunately, Tang You'an was quick to learn, mastering it immediately, which was reassuring.

"What would you like to eat, Xici?" Tang You'an asked afterward.

"Hmm... anything is fine, just two dishes and a soup. Remember, one meat and one vegetable. Oh, and make the meat dish fish! I love fish! Everything's in the fridge," Song Xici pointed at the refrigerator.

"Understood," Tang You'an nodded.

"Then I'll go take a nap," Song Xici said.

"Go ahead," Tang You'an nodded.

After teaching Tang You'an how to use the kitchen, Song Xici could no longer stay awake and rolled back to her room to sleep.

Tang You'an went to the kitchen and thoroughly examined the contents of the refrigerator.

The upper shelf held some bok choy and vegetables she didn't recognize, while the lower shelf contained some hard objects she couldn't identify. In any case, she couldn't find any fish.

She wanted to ask Song Xici where the fish was, but seeing her already asleep, she decided against it. After opening Song Xici's door upstairs, she came back down.

After pondering for a moment, Tang You'an suddenly had an idea: So that's it.

Some time later, a delicious aroma wafted from the kitchen, spreading to every corner of the house.

Smelling the fragrance, Song Xici became ravenous. Without waiting for Tang You'an to call her, she was drawn awake by the scent. In a daze, she brushed her teeth and floated downstairs, pouncing on the dining table like a hungry wolf.

Two dishes and a soup. A bok choy soup, a cold cucumber salad, and a fish dish, which looked the most appetizing.

On a white porcelain plate lay two or three palm-sized fish, drizzled with a vibrant sauce and sprinkled with green onions and ginger strips, making one's mouth water.

"Xici, please," Tang You'an said, serving her a bowl of plump rice.

"Thanks!" Song Xici cradled the rice bowl, flashing a smile before picking up a piece of fish with her chopsticks.

The fish was perfectly prepared, with a crispy exterior and tender flesh inside. Wrapped in a bit of sauce and paired with a small clump of rice, it was truly delicious.

"I hereby declare you the champion of the Xth Super Chef competition!" Song Xici couldn't help but put down her chopsticks, reaching out to mime placing a hat on Tang You'an's head.

Had she accidentally struck gold?

"Thank you for the compliment, Xici," Tang You'an smiled gracefully as ever.

Song Xici picked up her chopsticks again, ready to take another piece of fish. But this time, her chopsticks froze mid-air. She looked up at Tang You'an: "Wait a minute, I don't remember buying these small fish! I had filleted carp in the fridge, cleaned and prepared by the fishmonger. Where did you get these small fish? Did you go out?!"

Hearing this, Tang You'an paused, chopsticks in hand, and shook her head: "I did not go out."

"Then tell me, where did you get these from?!" Song Xici asked urgently.

Tang You'an slowly put down her chopsticks, turned her head, hesitated, then looked towards the fish tank in the living room.

"Big Fur, Second Fur, Third Fur..." Song Xici fainted, her chopsticks clattering onto the table. "You died so tragically..."

Author's note: I came back quite late today...
