One Pet Gets Married

Chapter 5

Chapter 5

Liao Bixin was furious upon hearing this but didn't know how to react. She felt a dull ache in her temples.

"I won't go buy any. At this late hour, as an actress, one must have good self-discipline. Controlling diet and figure is fundamental, especially when playing a mermaid," Liao Bixin said, her voice losing its coquettish tone as she tossed her hair, suddenly transforming into a woman of professional integrity.

Song Xici took a bite of her dumpling, exhaled a puff of white breath, and smiled as she replied, "Speaking of which, as someone who never gains weight no matter what I eat, I wonder what it's like to survive on boiled vegetables and grilled chicken breast every day just to control your weight."

Finally, Liao Bixin and Song Xici exchanged sharp glances, the air between them crackling with tension. Song's side emerged victorious, while Liao's suffered a crushing defeat.

Song Xici picked up her chopsticks and popped another large dumpling with thin skin and generous filling into her mouth. She nodded appreciatively at the taste while giving Tang You'an a thumbs up.

After finishing the shoot, it was exactly 1 AM.

Song Xici felt her brain turning to mush. She fell into a deep sleep just minutes after getting into the car.

But after a while, Song Xici suddenly trembled and mumbled, "How could you do this to me? I liked you so much..."

After muttering this, Song Xici's head slid onto Tang You'an's shoulder. Tang You'an turned slightly to look at her.

"Sister Xici is acting in her dreams again. She's reciting lines from the script. She really doesn't stop acting even in her dreams," Xiao He said, cupping her face and smiling. "I hope Sister Xici becomes famous soon."

Tang You'an listened silently, gazing out the window at the passing scenery without comment.

Upon arriving home, Song Xici yawned as she opened the door and turned on the lights. Bright white light instantly filled every corner.

"The lamp... Didn't it shatter last night? Why is it..." Tang You'an walked in, puzzled.

"At five o'clock, or the hour of you, I had Sister Shihan call someone to fix it," Song Xici explained.

"I see," Tang You'an nodded.

At this point, Song Xici suddenly grabbed Tang You'an mysteriously and winked at her. "You said you can tell fortunes, right, darling?"

"That's correct," Tang You'an nodded.

"Then can you tell me when your big sister here will become super famous, like mega-ultra-famous?"

Tang You'an nodded, gently pinching her fingers as she gazed at Song Xici for a moment, then let out a soft sigh.

"You have a kind face and are straightforward in all matters. Though your family background is good, you never misuse it and reject the dark rules of the industry. You've come this far mostly on your own merit."

"Holy crap, you're spot on! Yes, yes, I've relied on myself!" Song Xici nodded frantically.

"Success is not impossible, but there will be some twists and turns. And Miss Song, you're not particularly adept at handling those," Tang You'an looked at her.

"Alright, alright, I get it. You're saying good things take time and I should be patient." This fortune-telling wasn't much different from not having one at all.

Song Xici frowned, releasing Tang You'an's arm with a sigh. She tossed her bag aside, grabbed some fish food, and walked to the fish tank.

"Big Fur, Second Fur, Third Fur, come on, don't fight. There's enough for everyone," Song Xici said, sprinkling food into the tank with a smile. "Second Fur, you've gotten fat. How did you get so chubby? You're even fatter than Big Fur now."

After feeding the fish, Song Xici sealed the food container and set it aside. She then turned to Tang You'an, "By the way, do you know how to use nipple covers? You probably don't even know what those are. I mean, how did you put on your clothes?"

Song Xici reached out to pull back Tang You'an's jacket, revealing a black strapless long dress underneath, with no visible protrusions.

"Miss Xu helped me dress," Tang You'an replied.

"You can't even dress yourself... Didn't she find that strange?" Song Xici asked.

"Last night, Miss Xu mentioned something about taking me to a place called a hospital once the topic's popularity dies down," Tang You'an answered.

Song Xici nearly choked. She walked to the coffee table, peeled an orange, popped a segment into her mouth, and pointed at Tang You'an, "From now on, call her Sister Xu, got it?"

"Understood," Tang You'an nodded.

"Also, don't let her know you've traveled through time. The fewer people who know about this, the better. Ideally, just heaven, earth, you, and me, understand?" Song Xici said, pointing at her.

"Mm-hmm."

"And before you join the cast, you need to learn comprehensively..." Song Xici continued, tossing more orange segments into her mouth. Though the orange was a bit cold, it was deliciously sweet.

"Ah, right, I must teach you one thing!" Song Xici exclaimed, quickly setting aside the orange.

Although she was exhausted, some things needed to be resolved before she could sleep soundly.

"Hmm?" Tang You'an waited attentively and obediently for her to continue.

"Here, this," Song Xici waved her phone in front of Tang You'an. "Today's lesson is - how to properly use a phone!"

The way Song Xici held the phone made one wonder if she might next say, "Step-by-Step Reading Machine, just point to what you don't understand."

"Alright," Tang You'an nodded, her entire demeanor showing excitement.

Truthfully, she was very curious about this device.

It seemed to have the ability to communicate over great distances. Today, she had seen Xu Ying speaking fluently with someone not present. This was indeed a marvelous world.

"First, you can swipe the screen like this and that. Then... here's the contact list with many numbers stored. When you want to contact someone, just tap this, then this, and you can call them. Let me demonstrate."

Song Xici then dialed her best friend Meng Meng's number.

A few minutes later, the call connected.

"Hello? Meng Meng? It's me, Xici... Oh, nothing much, just wanted to say, since I'm filming near home recently, when you're free, let's grab a meal together. Mm, okay, bye."

After hanging up, Song Xici turned to Tang You'an, "Did you understand?"

Tang You'an nodded hesitantly, then shook her head.

"Go get your phone. It should be on your bedside table. Don't forget the charger, it's a cord like this," Song Xici pulled a cord from her bag.

"Okay," Tang You'an nodded and went upstairs to her room to find the item.

Honestly, she was a bit excited and nervous. After all, she was about to learn how to use this treasure.

A few minutes later, Tang You'an came downstairs with her phone. Song Xici connected it to her power bank.

After a few more minutes, Song Xici waved Tang You'an over with the phone, "To turn it on, press and hold this button until you see a bitten apple appear on the screen, got it?"

"Understood," Tang You'an nodded.

"Then to unlock it..." Song Xici thought for a moment, grabbed Tang You'an's finger and tried once, successfully unlocking it. "Every time you're not using it, the phone will lock itself. To unlock it again, just press your right thumb here."

Tang You'an continued nodding. Was this some kind of secret mechanism? Impressive.

"Alright, now open the contacts, find my name, and give me a call," Song Xici instructed.

"Okay," Tang You'an complied and opened the contact list. But the list was incredibly long, and she couldn't find the name after scrolling for a while.

"What's wrong?" Song Xici asked.

"I cannot find your name, miss," Tang You'an replied.

"Really? Let me see," Song Xici tossed the orange peel into the trash, wiped her hands, and took the phone from Tang You'an. She tapped the "S" on the side for quick search but found nothing.

So Song Xici scrolled through the entire list until she saw a contact named "Number One Idiot". She paused, tapped it, and discovered it was her own number.

Damn. Song Xici coldly changed it to "Super Adorable Fairy Princess" before handing the phone back to Tang You'an. "Now call me."

"Alright," Tang You'an nodded and dialed as instructed.

As soon as she dialed, Song Xici's phone rang.

"Oh, and if someone calls you, to answer, just press this," Song Xici showed her the answer button on the phone.

Tang You'an nodded again and held the phone to her ear.

"Hello, this is Song Xici."

"Hello, I... This is Tang You'an," Tang You'an replied, then looked at the phone curiously, finding this new gadget utterly fascinating.

"Mm-hmm. In the future, if you encounter anything you don't understand, don't act on your own. Just call me directly. This 'Super Adorable Fairy Princess' is me, got it? It's the quickest and most convenient way," Song Xici said, still holding her phone and looking at Tang You'an.

"Understood." To Tang You'an, Song Xici was like a guiding light in her new world, a Buddha figure. Of course, she would listen to everything.

However, was Song Xici really a fairy? And she could even perceive celestial matters... Was this the realm of immortals or the mortal world? If mortal, was Fairy Song here on a mission?

Tang You'an's mind was still foggy, as if filled with a swirling mist. If this was the immortal realm, did it mean it was as full of intrigue as the mortal world?

Having just arrived and absorbed so much information in such a short time, she didn't know how to process it all.

"Besides that, you can also send me WeChat messages," Song Xici said, hanging up and taking Tang You'an's phone to open WeChat and search for herself.

But as she looked, Song Xici's face turned ashen. In Tang You'an's WeChat contacts, she was saved as "Turtle Empress".

TN: 王八 (wáng bā): This term literally means "tortoise" or "turtle," but in colloquial Chinese, it is a very insulting term used to refer to someone as a "bastard" or "scoundrel." The term "王八蛋" (wáng bā dàn) is often used to mean "bastard" or "son of a bitch."

Song Xici grimly changed it to "Fairy Sister" before handing the phone back to Tang You'an. "I'm guessing you don't know how to use pinyin input, so just use handwriting input for now. If you need anything, write it here and send it to me. I'll teach you how to use various apps tomorrow."

Tang You'an nodded as she took back the "phone" treasure.

"Alright, I'm going to shower now. I'm exhausted... Thank goodness I can rest tomorrow..." Song Xici said, grabbing her bag and massaging her neck as she headed upstairs.

Back in her room, Tang You'an kept looking at the "Fairy Sister" and "Super Adorable Fairy Princess" contacts, feeling restless.

In her previous life, if a deity had shown favor and assisted her, she would have to repay the kindness.

Now that Fairy Song had so warmly helped her and given her a magical tool, wouldn't it be improper not to express gratitude?

With this thought, Tang You'an put down the phone, took the apples she had bought with Xu Ying earlier, and gently knocked on Song Xici's door. But there was no answer.

Not daring to enter uninvited, Tang You'an decided to use the ancestral method to send her offering.

She returned to her room and rummaged through drawers until she found three incense sticks in a cabinet and a lighter in an ashtray on a small table.

She had seen the lighter used earlier today; it seemed to produce fire with just a press.

Tang You'an then took the apples to Song Xici's door, lit the incense and stuck them into the apples, arranged them there, and respectfully bowed several times before returning to her room.

Meanwhile, after finishing her bath, Song Xici suddenly realized she hadn't taught Tang You'an how to use the water heater. She hurriedly wrapped herself in a towel and opened the door, intending to find Tang You'an.

As she opened the door, Song Xici saw the apples with incense sticks placed in front of her door and let out a scream.
