Not Sure, Another World Reincarnation

Chapter 160: Equipment Restrictions Lifted

Chapter 160: Equipment Restrictions Lifted

Project GB is an official initiative by Re:Library.Good morning.

We’ve been preparing to leave since early this morning. That being said, there isn’t much to do. I’ve retrieved the mattresses and put everything back to the way it was, I guess I just have to pack my luggage? Basically, almost all of my luggage is put away in [Storage], so really, it’s just the rest of the party’s luggage. Two of them just had to put their clothes away in the magic bags that they borrowed, so once they threw it all in, our task was over in no time.

Once we’ve finished packing, we went over to the Village Chief’s house to say our goodbyes before leaving. The Chief was already awake and was busy recording things in what looked like a ledger, while his wife and Anna were preparing breakfast. Mina was still asleep.

“Oh, good morning. Anna tells me that you’ll be leaving soon… Though I don’t mind if you take your departure a bit slower…”

“No no, we would feel uncomfortable to rely on you for too long, and besides, adventurers are meant to travel.”

“I see, that is certainly true… Then, please be careful, and I wish you all a safe journey.”

“Thank you very much, well then, we’ll be on our way…”

And with that, Lily wrapped up the conversation quickly after giving a brief goodbye.By the way, we declined breakfast. That’s because we were given a huge lunch box! It had black bread, leafy vegetables, and diced leftover steak from the night before. There was enough food in there for all four of us to have three meals for the day. No, hey, this was too much. But hey, we were grateful for the free food, so we accepted it without hesitation.

We went to the stables, retrieved the horse golems, and tied them to the carriage parked next to the detached building, then we were ready to go. Ah, by the way, I’ve improved the horse golems so that they can pretend to eat. Since we travel by carriage a lot, it would be very suspicious if the horses and carriage suddenly disappeared while staying at an inn in town, so I included this function to camouflage them better.

Then everyone got on board the carriage and we started to move. We made our way through the village and headed out.

The festivities were still in full swing in the village square. However, there were drunk people passed out all over the place, making for a rather strange sight.

Seeing the villagers like that, Arisa had a strange look on her face. Please drink alcohol in moderation…

As we were leaving, Mina chased after us and said goodbye. After that, we left the village and headed for the highway. After driving for a while, I suddenly opened the window and stuck my head out, turning to look back at the village.

In the end, we ended up staying in that village for almost ten days… Am I getting sentimental, or maybe not?

“We stayed in that village for quite a while.”

“Yea…”

“I never thought I’d end up participating in the Knight’s subjugation operation.”

“Mhm.”

“Well, I wasn’t a combat soldier, I was just providing support in the back while treating the injured… But it was the first time I’ve ever used so much healing magic.”

“That’s right.”

“But thanks to this ring that Ren gave me, my magic consumption was reduced, so I managed to pull through.”

“Is that so?”

“Yes.”

“I see.”

“Ren? Are you listening to me properly?”

“I didn’t hear.”

“Reeeen?!”

No, wait, what is it? I’m catching about half of it, but I’m still listening properly! Actually, I’m concentrating on calling Norn and Bell, so could you please be a bit quieter?!

Well, you see, Norn and Bell were supposed to meet up with us when we left the village, but they haven’t come back yet. I’m currently using [Familiar Synchronization] to try and find out where they were.

So I’ve been sending out thoughts for a while, and it turns out that Bell would be training for a few more days before they would join up again. It looks like they know our location. I see?

Well, they aren’t children, once they’ve finished what they’re doing, they’ll come back soon.

When I told the rest of the party about Norn and Bell, they had the same opinion as me. Arisa said that they’re probably doing teamwork training just for the two of them.

That being said, if Norn and Bell aren’t around, we’ll have to take turns with the night watch, but there’s no problems for now. Rather, Lily and Arisa sometimes stay up throughout the night even when Norn and Bell are around, so that they have proper training and experience in that sort of thing. I have homemade potions to keep me awake so I don’t accidentally fall asleep. Though, this does seem like it would be really bad for my health… If there is a problem, it would probably be from Kuro, so she’ll stay awake together with me until she gets used to it.

After setting up the night rotation like that, we started travelling again to the hot springs. And as I had planned, I started improving my weapons.

By the way, I told Lily, “I want to concentrate on my work,” so she moved to the driver’s seat in disappointment. Now, Kuro is in the passenger cabin, but she’s just been sleeping the entire time. She seems like she’s catching up for the night… Well, whatever, as long as she’s quiet, it’s fine.

The first thing to make is steel threads. Rather than making the main item straight away, I’ll start by making things that I can use on a daily basis, and gain some experience.

Hmm, if it’s too thin, I’m afraid I might slice my finger off… Let’s make it a little thicker. And to increase durability, something like that, and this, and that… and attach…

Okay, that feels good. I’ve tried pulling and bending it, but it’s not like a wire, but more like a soft string. How strange. By the way, I have thinner ones prepared as well. Cutting things up with steel threads, or stretching them around to create a restricted area, it’s romantic to do something like that.

Next, once it’s finished, it’s connected into a dagger-sized sword. When I say ‘connected’, I don’t mean simply tying it directly to the sword, rather like passing a metal ring through the eyelet and connecting the steel thread to that metal ring… Good, good, that feels nice.

Then, I stored the completed item in [Storage], then activated [Sword Control Magic], taking out the sword from Storage and keeping it in the air. Then, about half of the blade suddenly appeared from the empty air and remained motionless.

…This, it looks exactly like Gate of Baby…ahem.1

Yeah, this is fine! No Problems!

After working that far, it was time for a lunch break. Lily is on cooking duty again today, so I stepped away from the carriage for a bit, and found a random tree beside the road to aim and shoot at, using the dagger I had modified earlier. I fired it at the speed of a pistol bullet, **CLANG!** It hit the tree with a high-pitched noise.

…Hmm, I thought the wire would cause the bullet speed to slow down, but that doesn’t seem to be the case… Actually, it feels like I can still increase the speed even further.

By the way, the wire extended out from the hollow space where it was emitted from, so it really does look just like the Gilded King.2

Anyways, in this state, use [Storage] and put it away… Ah, it disappeared in an instant. This is convenient. This solves the problem I’ve been having up until now… Seems to have been an easy solution.

Hmm, if that happens, then… Ah, let’s see if we can tow with it. I pulled out a suitable piece of wood from [Storage], then aimed a dagger at it and, hit. Then, from this state, “Store the steel wire by winding it up inside [Storage].”

…Oh, it’s working. The wood is being pulled towards me… Yeah, this is nice! With this, I can pull things that I see in the distance closer, won’t that have many uses? Okay, later I’ll make a large warhead with an arrowhead like a barb too.

Hmm, is there anything else I can try…? Let’s try to see if I can hit it in a curved shot, I’m able to interfere with the trajectory to a certain extent and hit the target, so this should work. Let’s get started.

**Swish! CLANG!**

Yeah. Hitting a target in an arc is easy to do.

Next up… If I can bend it at a sharp angle, I could add some variety to my attacks, wouldn’t I? After it gets dodged, the dagger turns around and hits my target from behind, and… that’s it!

**Swish! Clink! CLANG!**

Oh, I did it, I did it. This will have a variety of useful applications. For example, I could fire off multiple swords in different directions, attacking the target from multiple directions simultaneously and at different times… This would make defending and evasion very difficult, which would be powerful.

Yeah, Yeah, good, good! I was concentrating really hard, but shouldn’t dinner be ready by now…? Thinking that, I turned around and saw both Lily and Arisa looking at me with blank expressions on their faces. What’s wrong?

“Huh? Is something wrong?”

“Ah… No, I was just thinking that you were doing something amazing, and…”

“Ah, I was practicing a new attack, or rather experimenting… well, something like that.”

“I, I see…?”

“Lily, that’s bad, it might be hard for me to avoid or prevent that~.”

“Eh, even Arisa?”

“Yeah, that speed might be serious~.”

“Eeeh…”

The two of them looked shocked.

“The situations where the magic armor can be used are quite limited… Anyway, is dinner ready yet?”

“Ah! Sorry, my hands stopped working!…I’ll make it right away!”

Really, Lily is no good.

“Really~ Lily is no good~.”

“Arisa, you were also frozen! Come on, don’t just stand there, come help!”

“Yeees~.”

And there’s the usual husband-wife back and forth… Maybe they were trying to instigate?

… By the way, Kuro was still asleep in the carriage.

That was the first day of our resumed travels, the journey continued after that, with me creating equipment while moving, and test firing during breaks. Along the way, Norn and Bell rejoined us.

By the way, since then, I’ve been making a lot of chains and creating ammunition from one-handed swords and greatswords. I’ve even prepared some special bullets with different attributes for different purposes.

As a basic function, it’s set up so that if the target is not hit, the weapon is immediately retrieved into [Storage].

Next, if the target is hit, the sword bullet is immediately retrieved when it pierces the target and stops moving completely. However, this setting can be turned off at will.

Furthermore, when automatic retrieval is turned off, if the target tries to fight back or cut the chain or steel thread while its still stuck, the threat level of the attack is automatically determined, and if there is a risk of damage, the item will be immediately retrieved.

This is because the sword bullets are half-stored in [Storage] via chains, because they were in a state of pseudo-contact with me through [Storage], it was then just a simple application of [Appraisal]. Although it’s not possible to make a detailed appraisal due to having too many things in between, it seems like I can get a vague idea of the strength of my target.

Then referring to the sensations felt, the function then automatically recollects the item based on the automatically calculated threat level of the opponent’s attack. It’s all so convenient, I’m honestly having trouble commenting.

And from here, let me explain the various special ammunitions.

First up, the Burst Dagger, now called the “Burst Bullet”.

This doesn’t simply spread the explosion when it goes off, the skill [Final Strike] can be adjusted, allowing the explosion to cover the desired range. By narrowing the range, it increases the destructive power, making it a special bullet with maximum firepower. The explosive force itself is made differently along several stages, but when using an All-Attribute Magic Sword, which boasts the maximum firepower, the target will likely be completely burned to ashes. This makes it impossible to recover materials, meaning it should be considered a last resort and shouldn’t be used lightly.

Next, a special bullet with enhanced bullet speed and penetration power, used for long-distance sniping, the “Penetrator.”

This bullet has been imbued with the weapon skill [Penetrate], which allows projectiles and piercing attacks to bypass defenses. [Penetrate] is a magical enhancement based on the concept of a ‘recoilless hammer,’ forming an artificial cutting edge at the weapon’s tip using magical energy. By creating a slight gap between this magical edge and the actual tip, the impact’s kinetic energy is focused into the target, allowing it to pierce through without losing force or leaving residue behind.

Additionally, the skill amplifies kinetic energy, further increasing its penetrative power. On top of that, I applied [Attribute Enhancement: Wind] to boost the projectile’s speed, effectively turning it into a specialized sniping bullet.

Finally, there’s the automatic tracking type “Tindalos.”

Anyone familiar with the name will know what it mean, the bullet is imbued with the weapon skill [Hound of Tindalos]3, which, once it locks onto a target, will relentlessly pursue it until impact. The effect of [Hound of Tindalos] is exactly what the name implies.

However, because this skill consumes a large portion of the weapon’s available capacity, the levels of other imbued skills had to be reduced to compensate. As a result, the bullet is less lethal compared to standard bullets when it comes to raw damage output.

I’ve thought up a few others that may or may not be effective, but my time’s up for now. From here, we’ll be heading to our destination, the hot springs, on foot… Or rather.

“Now that I think about it, I never asked properly, but what kind of place is this hot spring? Is it a village or a hot spring town somewhere?”

“Ah, I didn’t explain the details. Our destination is a hot spring that wells up deep in the mountains. It’s said to be at the end of the mountain path, next to that landmark rock.”

Lily pointed to a large rock on the river bank, next to a small river that runs alongside the road. Looking closely, I can see a frequently travelled mountain path beside the rock, which branches off, leading into the forest, and a very thin stream that runs parallel to that path, which merges with the river.

“I see, is it the source of that stream…?”

In that case, we’ll have to make some adjustments to make it more comfortable… Alright, this uncle is going to make whatever he likes.

And just as I was feeling motivated, we put the carriage away and started walking through the forest, which turned into a mountain climb.

Yeah, I feel that by the time I reach the hot spring, I’ll be so exhausted that I won’t want to do anything…!

She compares herself to Gilgamesh, but I’m seeing more similarities to her and Pinhead. All she had to do is bait people to open a puzzle box, then send the chains after them.

In japanese, it’s ゲートオブバビロン, with the last two characters cut out to leave ゲートオブバビ, or Gate of Babi, before Ren interupts herself. Obviously in english, we spell it ‘Babylon’, so that leaves Ren’s interruption making it Gate of Baby. It’s now the baby gate. She connects to a storage and uses it to fling babies at people. Please choose which to make it, Baby or Babi, or perhaps cut it off elsewhere, Gate of Babyl/Bab… ahem.TLN: Gilded King/Golden King?, or 金ぴか王, seems to again reference Gilgamesh from the Fate series, though it’s difficult for me to tell. First, obviously, I haven’t touched much from the Fate series, but a moniker of a character while in Japanese didn’t seem to get translated directly to a moniker in English. Pulling up the Fate wiki, Gilgamesh seems to have three monikers, “King of Heroes”, “The Oldest King”, and “Wedge of Heaven”. Nowhere in the english version of the series does Gilded King come up, except some random forum and reddit posts of people who probably already know, or… looks like some quest line… google’s AI will recognize it though… f̲u̲c̲k̲ it, regardless, my point, Gilded King is the exact translation… or Golden King(?), but for an english reader to get the reference, you may want to use one of his english monikers. If you know, or if you know someone who is into the fate series who would know, whichever one would be best, please do use that one instead.TLN: 【猟犬ティンダロス】/Ryouken Tindarosu, or Hound of Tindalos, is originally part of Cthulhu mythos and likely has a few other nerdy references that an otaku like Ren would be familiar with.
