Chapter 1514 813: Escape? Give It Up!
Chapter 1514 813: Escape? Give It Up!
Skye had no idea why Walter was so impatient. She asked nervously, "What exactly did you talk about? Isn't the FBI here to help Hank?"
Walter didn't reply, but just anxiously gestured for Skye to move away from the opening. He struggled to push a sack out of the hole, then reached for a second one. Just then, young Walter's voice came, "Wait, let me get the door."
Walter and Skye immediately stopped their actions and carefully listened to the sounds coming from outside.
Leaning on his crutch, young Walter went to the door and opened it. "Hi, Agent Yang, how do you know our place? Is there something you need?"
Jimmy smiled and said, "Hi, young Walter, I'm here to see your father, Mr. White. Can you call him for me?"
Young Walter had just met Jimmy at Uncle Hank's house and knew they were good friends, so he didn't have any suspicions anymore. "Of course, come in."
He stepped aside to let Jimmy in, while walking toward his parents' bedroom, loudly calling out, "Dad! Dad! Agent Yang is here for you!"
Jimmy also chimed in, "Mr. White, I'm FBI Agent Jimmy Yang. Please come up and meet me; we need to talk."
When Jimmy left Hank's house earlier, he didn't go straight back to the hotel to rest. Instead, after driving a short distance away, he immediately returned to the road that was the only way out from Hank's place.
He believed that part of what Walter said was true, perhaps even a significant part, since Hank didn't seem suspicious. It obviously fit Hank's consistent impression and reasoning. But Jimmy didn't believe everything Walter said was true. For a drug dealer, having an escape plan is essential, even if Walter had only been a chemist for a few months. The people and environment he was exposed to would have ensured he thought about what to do once discovered.
Walter had been deceiving Hank for months, and now with just a few real-life situations, he could get Hank to speak up for him. Walter's mind was clearly sharp. Although the current situation wasn't what Walter would have planned, if he managed to leave Hank's place, he would definitely take action.
In fact, Jimmy was right. After leaving Hank's place, Walter drove a short distance at a normal speed, then sped back home. Fortunately, his counter-surveillance skills were poor, and Jimmy followed him to his house, watching Walter hurriedly run inside without even noticing the car tailing behind.
Originally, Jimmy planned to wait and see. He needed to judge by Walter's actions whether his family knew about his deeds. But from the moment Walter climbed under the house, Jimmy knew he had to step in.
Young Walter sat with a crutch in the living room, and baby Holly was in the cradle. Meanwhile, the Walters were talking in the bedroom, and by the time Walter came under the house, it was evident that Skye wasn't helping Walter pack. Her actions seemed to show she was confused. Perhaps she was entirely unaware of Walter's actions.
For Walter, who had joined the drug trade, Jimmy had to assume the worst. The bag he put under the house must contain his backup plan, possibly cash and fake IDs. He might resort to violence against Skye, who had noticed his odd behavior, or even against the children if Jimmy didn't act; it would be too late to stop him.
Young Walter shouted twice, seeing Jimmy beside him also calling out. He shrugged and stepped aside, being mobility impaired. Since Jimmy called, the Walters would surely come out.
Walter had initially signaled for Skye to leave first. When Jimmy told him to come up, Walter was startled, and so was Skye, looking at Walter in surprise, not understanding why Jimmy said that.
Walter reached up for the bag lying on the ground, dragged it down, and climbed up, closing the secret door behind him, then immediately opened the bathroom door and walked out.
Smiling, he looked at Jimmy and walked over while saying, "Hi, Jimmy, what brings you here? Is there something else? I was just about to take a shower."
Jimmy also smiled, reached out to shake Walter's hand, and said, "I just remembered something else, so I came to confirm with you. Is it convenient? Let's go out and chat."
Walter said, "Oh, you seem urgent. Let's go out and talk. Skye, I'll be back soon."
After shouting towards the direction of the bathroom, Walter signaled Jimmy to leave together.
As he casually closed the door, Walter's smile vanished. Jimmy continued walking forward to his car, saying, "Get in."
Walter hesitated for a moment, then opened the door and sat in the passenger seat. Jimmy drove away from Walter's house to a nearby small park. It was quiet and relatively safe there.
Walter asked, "What do you want?"
Jimmy replied, "That's what I should be asking you. Hank told you to take your family and leave his house, and you plan to run away alone? Don't deny it; the bag under the house isn't difficult to find."
Walter looked at Jimmy in horror, "Did you put surveillance in my house?"
Jimmy said, "Oh, don't overthink it. Tracking and surveillance don't require bugs in your house. You're not that important. Does Skye know about your affairs?"
Walter was silent for a moment, then shook his head, "No, they don't know anything. They only know I won a lot of money gambling. My treatment costs and that car wash were both bought with that money. That store is enough for them to live a normal life after I'm gone."
