Chapter 1491 801: Please Help Me (2)
Jimmy nodded, "Of course, apologize to Mary for me, I don't think I'll be able to have lunch here today."
The hospital, Jimmy and a DEA agent waited outside Gomez's ward, it was the agent Mike who took the call earlier, leaving the scene to another agent and notifying the bureau to seal off the area.
Jimmy inquired about the situation at that time, Steven had been surveilling there last night with two other agents, the three of them took turns keeping watch, resting in the car, never seeing anyone enter or leave the house. In the morning, a delivery person brought some pizzas, and they had confirmed that the person had no issues, the restaurant confirmed the order address was indeed there.
Before the shooting happened, they saw someone climb over the wall from Jesse's neighbor's place, then over Jesse's fence into his house. Gomez got out to check, but he was likely discovered by the person beforehand who shot at Gomez's position and then fled.
Upon hearing the gunshot, Mike chased after, Gomez wasn't hit initially, but the person fleeing behind houses moved rapidly, flipping over several fences. As Gomez and the others were climbing over one fence, the perp attacked again with gunfire, Gomez was unfortunately struck, and when he tried to dodge sideways, he stumbled, hitting his head against the wall and passed out.
He's just really unlucky, Jimmy couldn't help but say, "Didn't you check Jesse's house? Isn't he inside anymore?"
Mike shook his head, "I'm not familiar with this case, just helping Gomez with surveillance for a few days..."
Jimmy looked towards Steven Gomez in the ward, this guy didn't synchronize the investigation details with others, obviously not wanting this private investigation to expand and expose information. He didn't expect to be the first unlucky one himself.
Jimmy could almost be sure their goal wasn't to go through the back door to kill Jesse; otherwise, they wouldn't act during the day when Gomez was pursuing. It looked more like entering to deliver news or find someone. If Mike and others had immediately checked post-incident, they might have been able to confirm many things; now, it's probably too late.
Checking the time, Jimmy reluctantly called to cancel the afternoon flight; losing some money was better than leaving before Gomez woke.
Jimmy turned to Mike, "Arrange to seal off Jesse Pinkman's house, don't let anyone inside escape, stop them all, given the shootout in his backyard, there's enough reason."
Mike frowned at Jimmy, after a while he shook his head, "Perhaps this needs a unified bureau arrangement."
Jimmy sighed, pity this was DEA; if it were the FBI, even Albuquerque office personnel, he could exert pressure to execute his plan first and discuss further steps later.
Finally, Gomez woke up in the afternoon, and the nurse called a doctor to examine him before allowing Jimmy and the others to enter.
Gomez looked very weak, coupled with his scruffy beard, he looked even worse. Jimmy approached him and said, "Luckily, the shot to your abdomen didn't take your life, Steven, go to the chapel and pray well after you're discharged."
Gomez: "Jimmy, wait. Mike, how about you? Caught him?"
Mike shook his head, "No, he got away. I asked, the surveillance at that intersection is broken, hasn't been replaced for a long time."
Gomez took a deep breath, his face twitched, then he sighed, "Still failed."
Jimmy: "Being alive is good enough, Steven, it's really dangerous, their power is immense, and strong. With just two or three of you, it won't work out; listen to me, give it up... Maybe you can wait and investigate with Hank and the bureau after you recover."
Gomez closed his eyes, holding his breath, his face gradually turned red, "Hoo," he finally exhaled that breath, he looked at Jimmy, his eyes already bloodshot, "Jimmy, please help me..."
Jimmy sighed, "I just took a few days off to see Hank, soon going back to work..."
Gomez interrupted Jimmy, "Please! Jimmy! Only you can solve it! I can only trust you... Revenge!"
Jimmy just stood there looking at the weak Gomez in front of him, with red eyes, looking at Jimmy, biting his teeth, waiting for Jimmy's decision.
Jimmy was aware of some things he did in Albuquerque, including things in Mexico. As long as Jimmy had a reason, a proper reason, even the Demon of Hell could be bitten by him, things he couldn't do, Jimmy could...
Ultimately, Jimmy nodded, he looked at Mike standing silently beside him, and looked again at Gomez, "I need a formal transfer order."
Gomez nodded, "Thank you, thank you, Jimmy. I can manage it, I definitely can, trust me."

Jimmy returned to the hotel and received a call from Ruiz that night: "Jimmy, are you in Albuquerque?"
Jimmy: "Yes, my friend Hank Schneider was ambushed by a Mexican gang, nearly died, I'm here to visit him."
Ruiz: "So you're taking on this case? Do you know what you're doing?"
Jimmy sighed, "I only have two friends here. Hank Schneider was ambushed, almost died, now nearly paralyzed from the waist down. His partner Steven Gomez was shot while investigating this case, critically injured, now lying in the hospital... I don't want to... nor can I just go back like this."
Ruiz didn't speak anymore; he didn't expect Jimmy's friends to be severely injured, which was bad news for Jimmy.
Tonight, receiving a call from the DEA Albuquerque agent supervisor was indeed a bit daunting, the other simply introduced his identity and said he wanted to borrow Jimmy for a case investigation, and had already got Jimmy's consent, thus calling Ruiz first to notify, if Ruiz agreed, he would proceed with the cross-departmental joint investigation application process.
Ruiz didn't directly agree on the call, just said he needed to understand the situation before responding.
Closing the phone and placing it on the desk, Ruiz stood up, took an ice box from the mini-fridge, placed ice cubes in a glass, poured wine, sitting on a chair while contemplating this matter.
Over the past year, Jimmy only investigated one case after going to headquarters, no other cases were handled, he was very quiet, not causing trouble, or drawing attention, most of the time clocking in and out of work, showing his face to brush presence, entirely absorbed in family life. It was unexpected he just said he was going to Little Rock, then appeared in Albuquerque.
Calculating the time, he rested long enough, perhaps teaming up outside to work on cases wouldn't be bad, also getting him reacquainted with investigation rhythms, avoiding him being rusty when he returns to work.
After Jimmy finished speaking, he waited for Ruiz, but there was only light breathing from the other side, no other sound. After a while, Ruiz finally spoke, "I understand, well, stay there a while, finish early and come back."
Jimmy: "Thanks, Ruiz, sorry, this was sudden, I hadn't expected it to turn out like this."
Ruiz: "Yes, I got it. Goodbye."
Jimmy ended the call with Ruiz, then called Nia; he was supposed to go home to spend time with his wife and kids, but now might be delayed quite a bit.
However, the times have changed, confirming Liam was awake, he directly opened his laptop, and video chatted with Nia and Liam, seeing them was much better than merely hearing their voice.
