North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 1485 798: Conspiracy (Part 2)

Chapter 1485 798: Conspiracy (Part 2)

Hank watched Jimmy pack up his things, genuinely at a loss for words. Who else would bring so much stuff like Jimmy? So many heavy spare weapons to carry around every day, demanding a lot of stamina. But looking at Jimmy's robust physique, it probably wouldn't affect him.

Hank couldn't do it. Even before his injury, he wasn't a muscle man; in fact, over the years, his body had gone out of shape, with quite a bit of belly fat.

Jimmy's inner world was somewhat dark. He had been ambushed several times before, mostly because an insider leaked his information to others, targeting him with ambushes along the way. So when he heard Hank describe this coincidence, he couldn't help but think, "So, have you ever thought, your suspension might be a conspiracy?"

Hank widened his eyes and stared at Jimmy. He really hadn't noticed this point. He was suspended because he was investigating Jesse Pinkman, and then someone fabricated an incident of his wife Mary getting hurt and hospitalizing to distract him. When he got to the hospital, he realized he was tricked and angrily went to Jesse's home, beating him up. Afterwards, Jesse was hospitalized, Hank was investigated and suspended, his gun and badge were taken back, and then he was attacked by two Mexican assassins in the parking lot.

The more he thought about it, the more it didn't seem right. Hank was directly stunned, only coming to his senses when Jimmy called him back, "Damn, why didn't I think of this?"

Hank was somewhat excited. He had always thought there were no clues to investigate the two assassins because his suspension seemed too natural, and he was the one who struck first. But, if tied to the previous investigation, if someone had set a trap targeting him, everything would make sense. Someone who knows him well tailored a conspiracy based on his personality.

Jimmy was about to speak when the door sounded outside, and Mary's voice came: "Come in, Tim. Hank is in the bedroom. Hank, Tim has come to see you."

As she spoke, Mary led a person towards the bedroom. Jimmy stood up. When Mary came in and discovered there was one more person in the room, she exclaimed an "ah." Then realizing the person in front of her was quite familiar, Hank quickly said: "This is Jimmy, FBI agent, Mary, remember last time in New York... it was him who helped."

Mary finally remembered, stepped forward to give Jimmy a brief hug, "Oh, Jimmy, thank you for visiting Hank."

Hank looked at the person Mary brought in and said: "Hi, Tim."

Mary had brought in a strong-looking middle-aged black man. He smiled and greeted Hank, "Hi, Hank, who is this?"

Hank: "Jimmy, Jimmy Yang, FBI agent. Jimmy, this is my friend, Tim from the Albuquerque Police Department."

Jimmy greeted Tim. Tim pulled up a chair and sat by Hank's bed, while Mary left the bedroom, leaving them there.

Tim: "Hank, have you been feeling better lately?"

Hank: "Oh, getting a little better every day."

Tim: "That's good, you look pretty good."

Hank: "Hey, thanks again for the other day's incident. The whole thing... was hard for her to take."

Tim slightly tilted his neck, seeming like a personal habit, "Forget it, just a minor matter." He glanced around at the many rock samples placed there, saying: "Seems like you're collecting stones?"

Hank waved his hand: "These are minerals, you know, identifying, marking, categorizing, always need some things to do."

Tim: "Well, actually, I came to ask for your help." As he spoke, he began untying the documents in his hand, suddenly looking over at Jimmy nearby,

Jimmy smiled and said: "Hank, you guys chat, I'll head out first."

Hank thanked Jimmy again, loudly calling Mary to see Jimmy off, and it was only after Jimmy left that Tim opened the documents to give Hank.

Jimmy left Hank's house, got into the rented car, and returned to the city, incidentally calling Steven, "Steven, I've just visited Hank, and he seems to be recovering well."

Steven: "So soon? I thought you'd come in a couple of days; I'm still in El Paso now."

Jimmy: "No worries, I just discovered a problem while chatting with Hank earlier. Don't you guys carry a spare pistol? Bring it; Hank suffered because he didn't have a weapon to defend himself at the time."

Steven was silent for a moment and said, "Thanks for reminding me, I'll bring it next time I return."

Jimmy: "And one more thing, you still haven't identified the two assassins or why they targeted Hank, right? Have you considered the possibility that Hank's suspension and immediate ambush could be linked? Why was Hank suspended?"

Steven: "I don't know much. By that time, I'd left Albuquerque. I just heard Hank was still investigating the blue meth case, found a suspect, and kept tracking him. The details afterward are unclear, but Hank suddenly rushed into the suspect's home and beat him up, then got complained about. The office arranged an internal hearing after receiving the news, then suspended him, and that's when he was attacked in the parking lot."

Jimmy: "OK, I just had this thought and hope it helps your further investigation."

Steven: "Thanks, how many days will you stay in Albuquerque? I can return tonight."

Jimmy checked the time: "Alright, see you tonight."

It's no problem to stay two more days; Jimmy first drove to a hospital to check, re-medicate, and bandage his wounds, then rested at the hotel.

Steven and Hank are DEA agents, dealing with drug crimes, going against drug dogs and dealers, while Jimmy is FBI, handling various case types, and naturally, his reasoning about cases carries considerable credibility.

Steven thought for a while after hanging up, still believing he should trust Jimmy's instincts; he immediately contacted the Albuquerque office to sort some materials, taking leave to return to Albuquerque himself.

When Jimmy received Steven's call, it was already evening. The two arranged to have dinner at a Mexican restaurant and then Steven followed Jimmy back to the hotel.

"Jimmy, I remember you used to be in the New York office Homicide Team, right? Regarding Hank's attack, could you help analyze it a bit, you're the expert in this area."

Upon entering Jimmy's room, Steven immediately said, "As you mentioned, if this is a conspiracy, there must be a lot of information we didn't notice before."

Jimmy made a wry smile, it seemed he'd dug a hole for himself, "I can take a look, but don't expect me to crack the case, I'm now with the Support Team and need to hurry back to New York."

Steven opened his bag and took out a stack of documents, "Just help analyze a few clues, I'll handle the rest."

Jimmy sighed and took the documents; a thick pile, but all photocopies, apparently Steven had prepared these things in advance, definitely wouldn't have time if he waited to handle it until back in Albuquerque.

The person Hank hit was named Jesse Pinkman, a young man in his 20s, suspected of selling blue meth, but no evidence to catch him. Some of his cronies were involved in peddling blue meth on the streets.

The material contained photos of his injuries; Jimmy whistled, hard to tell Hank was quite fierce when hitting, this Jesse's face was bruised, left eye swollen almost shut, looked like multiple body hits but no severe breaks or fractures, though he was beaten into unconsciousness, hospitalized for days before he was discharged.

His lawyer is Sol Goodman, good name, from the materials, he was indeed a vulture lawyer, focusing on serving various street criminals, with a large number of cases and a high success rate, seemed like a tough character.
