Chapter 1456 784: Farewell (Part 2)

Chapter 1456 784: Farewell (Part 2)

Carrying a large backpack filled with plenty of food and water, plus a good amount of bullets bought by Jimmy for him, these supplies were enough to sustain Roland for some time as he roamed the Dark Tower world. During this time, finding enough drinking water and food shouldn't be a problem for Roland.

In the living room, Jimmy watched as Roland sorted out his backpack again, placing the bullets he had prepared at the bottom. Jimmy also handed him a carry-on bag to store the clothes he would wear on this side.

Roland changed back into his own clothes. In the Dark Tower world, wearing modern clothes would stand out, and he was already used to his own outfit, which happened to be suitable for the return.

To be frank, Roland's leather jacket coupled with the revolver holster made Jimmy envious as well. When he has the time, he'll definitely get one made for himself, even if just to keep at home without wearing it out.

Once everything was ready, Jimmy and Roland opened the secret door to the basement and went in. First, they moved all the stuff Jimmy had temporarily placed against the wall to clear the way. Then Roland stood in front of the control panel.

He glanced at Jimmy standing beside him, then pressed the number 1919 on the display panel. Suddenly, a region of multicolored shining light erupted from another wall adjacent to it, which appeared to be outside the wall rather than projected on it. Following that, it seemed to collapse in the middle forming a differently colored hole, reminiscent of those black holes in movies.

Roland nodded to Jimmy, and Jimmy reached out to embrace Roland, "Take care, look after yourself, Roland."

Roland, holding the carry-on bag in his left hand, patted Jimmy's back with his right hand: "Be careful, goodbye, Jimmy."

After speaking, he turned and walked towards the portal. Just after he had passed through it, a flash of light shone, and the portal that appeared on the wall vanished instantly. The wall in front of Jimmy looked completely intact, which was truly amazing.

"Oh, my God, what have you done?"

Just as Jimmy was about to inspect the location of the portal, Nia's scream suddenly came from behind him, startling him. He immediately turned to look at the stairs.

Nia, holding onto the stair railing, stood on the stairs, wide-eyed at where Roland had disappeared. Jimmy immediately walked over, helping Nia down the stairs.

Nia still stared at the location of the portal, pointing her finger in that direction, anxiously asking, "What was that just now? Where did Roland go?"

Jimmy, gently patting Nia's arm, said, "Calm down, calm down, Nia, don't get excited."

Nia turned her head to look at Jimmy, "How can I calm down? What exactly did you do?"

Jimmy replied, "Nothing, Roland just went home, that's all, it's okay."

Nia widened her eyes and asked, "Is he an alien? ET? What about you?"

Jimmy slapped himself across half of his face, thinking Nia's mind was working too quickly. "Don't worry, he's not an alien, um, just not from our world, but he's still human."

Jimmy nudged Nia, "Why don't you head upstairs first, I'll tidy things up here and tell you everything later."

Nia shook her head, pushing away Jimmy who was holding her, "No, I'm staying right here, now, tell me what's going on."

Jimmy sighed, "Give me some time, okay?"

Nia shook her head silently staring at Jimmy. Faced with such unexpected events, Jimmy also felt a headache, he could only promise repeatedly that he would tell Nia everything after handling the basement first. Only then did Nia nod, but she didn't leave, she just stood at the entrance of the stairs watching.

Jimmy shook his head with a wry smile and moved towards the wall, moving the objects used to temporarily cover the wall back over, and after ensuring everything was completely concealed, he left the basement with Nia and returned to the house above.

Jimmy didn't start talking about Roland immediately but first asked Nia why she came back. Actually, the reason Jimmy and Roland chose today to open the portal to leave was because Nia had to go to work, so it would be more convenient for them to handle affairs at home. Who would have thought that Nia felt unwell not long after arriving at the police station and left early to come home.

Sitting on the sofa, Nia briefly described her reason for returning home, which was because her stomach was feeling a bit uncomfortable, she had scheduled a home visit from the family doctor for an examination, hence she returned early.

When she opened the door, the sound didn't reach the basement, but when Nia entered the room, because Jimmy hadn't closed the basement's secret door, the sound of moving things caught her attention, leading her to the basement.

Just in time, when she reached the stairs, she happened to witness the portal opening, and after Roland entered the portal, he disappeared. She hadn't seen the conversation between Roland and Jimmy nor the operation of inputting numbers on the control panel.

As an ordinary person, and also a detective, Nia had access to more information than the average person but it absolutely didn't include aliens like ET, and even paranormal information was scarce. Seeing such a magical scene was certainly challenging for her nerves, she didn't shout which was already quite good, at least she could still watch Jim complete the basement work calmly.

But that was it, if encountering something stranger now, she would definitely not be able to wait calmly for Jimmy to explain.

First, Jimmy asked her what was uncomfortable, and after confirming the scheduled family doctor would still take a while to arrive, he started explaining the basement situation.

"It was a portal, just like you saw earlier; Roland returned to his world through the portal.

Roland is not from our world; he comes from a Middle Ages world where he acts as the Protector, mainly eliminating those monsters that threaten humanity, maintaining the order of that world.

Long ago, due to the space-time fissure between worlds, he came to our world, but he didn't interfere with us, only handled some trouble before returning."

Nia: "Like in movies or comics, superheroes handle big troubles and then disappear, so people generally don't know their identities?"

Jimmy nodded, "Exactly, like those sci-fi movies. I don't know much about them, but I'm sure Roland is definitely a good person, he won't pose any harm to us."

Nia: "Then everything you said before is true? He's really your teacher?"

Jimmy: "Yes, my firearms teacher. I owe my abilities today to Roland's selfless teaching years ago."

Nia said nothing, the shock from the whole situation was still significant. She originally thought Roland was just an old man with good shooting skills, little did she know there was so much more beneath the surface.

Jimmy realized Nia needed time to digest this information, so he didn't say anything further, simply standing up to pour her a glass of juice, placing it in front of her, while grabbing a can of beer for himself.

After a while, the doorbell rang. Jimmy got up to open the door, the family doctor had arrived on time.

Nia wasn't facing any serious issue, her stomach discomfort wasn't much of a problem, but because she was now pregnant, caution was necessary, and in case of any unusual situation having a doctor check was the best option. Moreover, they weren't short on money, so naturally they could have the family doctor arrive quickly for examination. For average people, not to mention whether they would be willing to spend this money, even after scheduling a family doctor, they had to wait in line.
