North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 1432 - 772: Police Investigation (2)

Chapter 1432 - 772: Police Investigation (2)

Based on the positions of several people, the person dead in the chair should have the highest status. As for the other six people, their positions are mostly overlapping, making it difficult to determine their situation before the murder. Additionally, the numerous bullet holes on these people make it troublesome to verify the trajectory to determine the gunman's position.

However, one thing is easier to distinguish: among the people present, including the one sitting, three are wearing suits, three are wearing black combat uniforms, and one is wearing casual clothes. It can be basically confirmed that they shouldn't be together, likely an accident occurred when both parties met here.

This investigation is very difficult. No common drug transactions or other transaction contents were found at the scene, making it hard to judge what they were doing in this building. However, fingerprint identification successfully acquired the identities of the three men in suits and the man in casual clothes.

The two men in suits dead among the crowd have clear identity information. Former veterans with no formal occupation, seemingly acting as bodyguards or muscle for someone. The person sitting in the middle should have the highest status. His formal identity is the boss of a consultancy company, but considering the occasions he appears at, it's likely that this consultancy company isn't of good nature.

The man in casual clothing is a Latin American gang's low-level thug, notorious, with no work records in the system. Yet the detectives managed to identify his other identity through private relationships, a relative of a high-ranking gang member, just unable to secure important work due to lack of capability.

The three men in black combat uniforms couldn't be traced. At least it could be determined they haven't committed crimes or served time in California. As for other regions, due to data desynchronization, they temporarily can't access identity information.

In principle, information between different detective teams at the police station isn't timely synchronized. Just someone happened to see the photos and found that the clothing of the three men resembles that in the Harriton Lady murder case with two victims, thus merging for joint handling. Detective Cook smoothly obtained the SUV parked beside the abandoned building and confirmed it was the same SUV after comparing with previous surveillance checks he conducted.

To investigate the Harriton Lady murder case, inevitably her relatives and business relationships need to be examined. However, bizarrely some high-level personnel and shareholders of Harriton Foundation are unreachable, causing LAPD detectives to feel quite frustrated, prompting Detective Cook to recall FBI agent Jimmy Yang he'd met earlier.

Jimmy hadn't received Dave's call, so could only return to the hotel and wait. Until the afternoon, he got Dave's call, briefly stating the current situation, telling Jimmy to pause the investigation and wait for preliminary findings from LAPD and FBI's Los Angeles office.

Now Dave also didn't dare urge Jimmy. This matter is evidently growing larger and isn't easily handled anymore. Leaving only Jimmy alone in Los Angeles is quite pressuring. Too much urgency and if Jimmy makes a mishap, it'll be hard to clean up.

Now Jimmy isn't in the mood to mess around anymore either. He is eager to find Roland, thus when Detective Cook called him, he promptly agreed to go to the police station to chat and share some syncable intelligence.

He was originally planning to stir trouble for these people. After all, he himself has little interest in politics. This case was purely pushed into his hands, sent like ducks forced onto a perch, making trouble for those behind the scenes. Originally he could continue playing, but now he isn't in the mood.

The next morning, Jimmy arrived at the detective bureau and met Detective Cook. After a brief greeting, Cook directly told Jimmy, "Agent Yang, sorry, please wait here a moment. I have an urgent matter needing a brief leave."

Jimmy surprisedly replied, "Of course, roughly how long?"

Cook: "Give me half an hour, I'll be back soon."

After saying this, Cook donned his coat and left the office with two detectives, leaving Jimmy waiting in an adjacent meeting room.

Fortunately, Cook was punctual, returning in less than half an hour, carrying two cardboard boxes inside. After organizing, Cook held a stack of photos to the meeting room, "Agent Yang, sorry for the wait. We uncovered some issues investigating Harriton Lady's relational connections. Some high-level personnel in the companies she manages are unreachable, you should have interacted with them before, so hoping you can provide some insights."

Handing the photos to Jimmy, "These people are Harriton Lady's associates, do you know anyone familiar?"

Jimmy took the photos and looked, picking out Sebastian's picture, "This is Harriton Lady's lawyer. I had met him before, but have not seen him in many days."

Detective Cook nodded, "Sebastian Morley, he's missing. According to his family, he didn't return home after leaving on the day of Harriton Lady's incident. His phone is now off, and the law firm can't locate him either."

At this time Jimmy couldn't reveal his view. Anyway, the opposing side found Harriton Lady through him, likely something happened to him as well, "Sorry, the last time I saw him was already many days ago, so temporarily I don't have anything I can offer you."

Cook frowned saying, "I just visited other precincts. This morning they received a murder case. A housekeeper found the homeowner shot dead in the bedroom. The deceased is also a boss of a company under Harriton Foundation, now others are responsible for scene investigation."

Jimmy shook his head, "That I don't know. In fact, due to Harriton Lady's death, my case is temporarily halted. I've not contacted others for confirmation these two days. Regarding case details, I cannot share with you. However, these people are not my investigative targets."

Cook: "Can you tell me who you've investigated then?"

Jimmy: "Sorry, details involving my investigation aren't something I can provide for the moment. However, I indeed contacted several Harriton Foundation major shareholders before, but starting a couple of days ago, I couldn't reach them. The reason I called Lady Harriton was to hopefully acquire some help from her side, but my timing of contact was too late.

My case was assigned by headquarters, without permission I cannot disclose case details."

Jimmy pushed the other photos forward, "If no other issues, then I'll head back."

Detective Cook couldn't do much either, being not affiliated with FBI, they couldn't forcibly demand Jimmy cooperate with the investigation, so could only shake hands and send Jimmy off.

At the office entrance, Jimmy paused, glanced at others' positions, then whispered to Cook: "Perhaps you can try investigating Foundation personnel. After Lady Harriton was hospitalized and returned to her manor, someone had intruded. Knowing her whereabouts, few people knew, so she moved to her current apartment to avoid potential threats."

Finishing, Jimmy patted Cook: "Her lawyer Sebastian knows about this, find him."

Jimmy didn't wait for Cook to respond, exiting the office directly. Cook watched Jimmy's departing back, frowned thinking a bit, returned to his place, starting to investigate the information Jimmy provided.

Jimmy's provided info was part of the report he wrote, these were originally meant to plug loopholes. Thus, even if detectives found something, it wouldn't affect Jimmy, though Sebastian's disappearance surprised him. About this sieve-like person traced to Harriton Lady, no matter if doing business or being killed, to Jimmy it's not beneficial. As many pieces in his report relied on him for verification, if these people met accidents, his report would have flaws.
