Chapter 1427 770: Black-on-Black Crime
Chapter 1427 770: Black-on-Black Crime
Having money makes things easier; when Benjamin brought the money over, the broker officially accepted the task. Of course, there was no need to discuss the details with Benjamin. He would wait for the investigative team to pinpoint Mrs. Harriton's location and her security personnel; then it would be time to gather the right people to get the job done.
These are all professional matters, and as a bodyguard, Benjamin doesn't need to know these. However, the broker shared a rough plan to facilitate Benjamin in notifying the boss later, although completing the whole plan would take some time, and he needed to reassure the boss.
Once Benjamin left, the broker's smile disappeared from his face. He carried the box to the club's secret area, temporarily deposited it in the safe, and then went out to make arrangements.
Such a large-scale assassination attack in the center of Los Angeles City requires meticulous planning. If the commotion gets too big, it can easily be traced back, and in case of significant casualties, a charge of terrorist attack may be possible, so it's best to use outsiders who have no ties to oneself. This would depend on his network.
-----------------
Jimmy has been hanging around the vicinity of the apartment building where Mrs. Harriton resides for two days now. Apart from necessary breaks to rest at the hotel, he spends most of his time idly watching around, with decent results.
Lawyer Sebastian comes by every day and stays for a long time. Obviously, they have some plan to execute. Mrs. Harriton cannot leave, and those around are all bodyguards. To communicate with the outside beyond phones and the internet, there's only Sebastian, the person who knows her well, thus he is also a subject of Jimmy's attention, though it is pointless to follow him.
However, to others, Sebastian is a conspicuous target. Whenever Sebastian comes over, Jimmy can see people tailing him. One group even arranged for someone to enter the apartment building, but the person didn't go upstairs, staying in the lobby for a short while.
Logically, these tails' target is certainly not Sebastian but trying to confirm Mrs. Harriton's exact location. This building is not particularly high, only about twenty floors, and the number of people inside isn't large. It's just that security is well-organized; without being a resident or prior notice, it's difficult to go upstairs. So, whether Mrs. Harriton has leaked her specific location is still uncertain, but they surely have confirmed she is in this apartment building.
That's why Jimmy, though bored, hasn't given up. Acting quickly after confirming the target is the right way; theoretically, it would happen in a day or two.
These days, Jimmy has been considering whether to request a surveillance team to replace him. In reality, if a battle breaks out here and he is found to have been monitoring nearby without taking action, it could easily provide leverage against him. However, requesting a surveillance team would require dealing with the Los Angeles office, and he would need to justify monitoring Mrs. Harriton, leading to a mess.
His car has already been seen in the area for several days. If someone investigates, it's easy to detect his routine. While monitoring, Jimmy looked around; about tens of meters away, there's a hotel. After thinking it over, he decided to spend some money for peace of mind.
Once in the hotel room, using binoculars he bought from an outdoor shop, he checked the view; although not ideal, at least he could observe the floor where Mrs. Harriton stays. However, the Heart Eye Vision is ineffective at this distance. Despite not being able to see the entrance below the apartment building, he can see the street beside it, allowing him to potentially spot some situations early.
After monitoring for a day in the room, Jimmy finally saw something he wanted to observe. In the evening, a car he'd seen before parked in an alley beside the apartment building. This car was driven by people tailing Sebastian. He'd seen it a few days prior, but then they'd drop off people and leave. This time they parked nearby, clearly serving as eyes.
Jimmy kept the curtains in his room drawn, only leaving a gap open to observe through binoculars. As long as the others across aren't observing from the same angle, theoretically, they couldn't spot anyone behind the curtains.
Seeing his target arrive, Jimmy picked up a few handguns he'd previously acquired and, while keeping watch, cleaned and checked them. Although he hadn't calibrated them, the guns obtained in Los Angeles are certainly superior to those from Mexico, especially since these appear relatively new, not war-damaged versions from long-term use, theoretically should be fine.
The car remained parked there until midnight. Jimmy, sipping Coke while watching, finally saw what he wanted: a black SUV parked beside that car, then someone got out from the sedan and climbed into the SUV. They stayed there for a few minutes before disembarking, then drove away in their own car.
Jimmy looked at the time; it was nearly 1 a.m. If nothing unexpected happens, they should act soon.
