Chapter 1382 - 747: Paying for Services (Part 2)
Haven't seen that guy Justin for a long time. The next morning, after withdrawing money, Jimmy drove back to Dallas, switched to an FBI car to show up at the hospital proving he was still in Dallas, and then drove directly to Little Rock in the used car.
As an FBI agent familiar with all kinds of surveillance, Jimmy obviously knows how to avoid having his face appear on cameras while driving. A large sunglasses covering half his face, a cap with a brim, plus a quick change of jacket, it's quite difficult to identify him given the current surveillance precision.
At night, Jimmy arrived in Little Rock; it was the perfect time for the bar hours. Jimmy went to the bar directly, called Justin, and went inside; Justin was already waiting outside the bar and directly led him to a small room.
Justin looked at Jimmy with a heavy expression: "What's going on? Why are you dressed like this?"
Jimmy took off his sunglasses: "Just inconvenient to appear, so made a simple disguise. How have you been lately?"
Justin: "Seeing me here means nothing serious has happened. What's going on? You wouldn't come like this for something minor."
Jimmy placed the box on the coffee table and sat down: "Sit down, just came to ask you about something. Don't worry, it's unrelated to you guys."
Justin sat opposite Jimmy, not feeling much relaxed. Jimmy is quite familiar with Winston's side, so if something happened, he should directly contact them. His unannounced visit to the bar is bound to raise concern.
Jimmy: "Alright, I just wanted to ask if you have any way to help me secretly reach the Caribbean without leaving a trace."
Justin's eyebrows raised: "What? You want to smuggle over there?"
Jimmy: "Yes, needs to be confidential, must not expose outwardly, and must be able to safely come and go."
Justin pondered, "Timeframe?"
Jimmy: "No particular requirement, but preferably not exceeding three months."
Justin: "I don't know your destination, but for the Caribbean, the simplest way is to fly directly to Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands via commercial flights, disguise a bit, make an identity change and fly straight there."
Jimmy: "I need to go to a small island, where there are no direct flights."
Justin: "Then get a yacht after arriving at the Virgin Islands; it's not difficult."
Jimmy: "Needs to be completely unrelated to me and must not leave any trace."
Justin pondered, "Maybe a private jet directly, although in any case, it leaves some trace. If you travel by sea, it will take much longer."
Jimmy: "You know my sensitive identity; not a single piece of information can be left. Think again for any other method."
Justin: "Give me some time, I can't give you a perfect plan right now."
Jimmy nodded, directly pushed the box to Justin: "I'm counting on you. I must go back now, can't stay here too long."
Justin sighed: "Got it, I'll try to sort out the route for you. Safe travels."
Jimmy nodded, put on his sunglasses, looked around after opening the door, and left the bar straight away. At such a time, Jimmy definitely couldn't stay long; he had to return to a hotel in Dallas to substantiate his alibi, just disappear for half a day, no big deal.
The Church quickly cleared their items. Sometimes, indeed, in terms of relics clearance, the Church, adept at manipulating various Inheriting Holy Relics, will undoubtedly be professional. In just two days, they cleaned up most of the clutter on that garbage pile and found several items that could possibly correspond to identities.
Among them was a necklace broken into many sections with two name tags attached, only they were corrupted beyond recognition, making it impossible to decipher the inscriptions at the moment. Judging by the style, it should be a Soldier's Token, likely issued during the Vietnam War era, differing from World War II Soldier's Tokens, with a notch on it.
This is the only item that can directly prove identity, although it's unknown to whom this Soldier's Token belongs, whether it's those bones or the creature itself, or someone it attacked.
In fact, they are unsure about what to do with this nameplate. For such corroded nameplates to retrieve the information, it requires extremely sophisticated rust removal and special ray irradiation to identify rolling marks, all needing specialized labs. For the Church people, it was somewhat troublesome, so they notified Jimmy immediately to see if the FBI was interested in further investigation.
Jimmy was indifferent; even if he found out the creature's background, it wasn't very valuable to him, as he didn't expect to hunt it down. If its strength was just that, it posed no threat to Jimmy, and the gun meant more to him.
After returning to Lambert's office and sharing the situation, Lambert took charge of it, not sure whom he'll appoint for handling it. Jimmy, having concluded this matter, was free to leave.
Justin hasn't called Jimmy back in those two days, implying the route isn't settled. It's not something that can be rushed. As Jimmy said, to ensure no trace is revealed, one must avoid all surveillance and formal routes. The idea of making fake identities and taking commercial flights is now completely useless; planning such a route isn't easy.
Flying from Dallas to Little Rock, meeting with James and his wife for a chat, Jimmy returned to New York. He had preliminarily dealt with the gun in Dallas, also called Father Rodney in advance. Hence, upon arriving at the church with his box lined with lead plates, Father Rodney received the box and gun; he would return it to Jimmy after purification.
In fact, bringing back the gun was quite troublesome, though fortunately, Jimmy got used to flaunting his authority, boxing it as evidence needing transport back to New York in his suitcase, otherwise suddenly appearing with a gun wouldn't sit well with airlines.
Nia was very worried about Jimmy; in the evening, she clung to him to talk about his encounters regarding the vampire-like creature. Even just Jimmy recounting caused her to shrink into Jimmy's embrace, yet couldn't resist wanting to hear it. Truly a case of being fearful yet curious, unskilled but eager to hear more.
The perilous deeds Jimmy had finished, and while showering, he noticed the scabs from the minor scratches could be easily flicked off, his skin already recovering, leaving faint marks. Based on past recovery from gunshots or injuries, these marks would vanish soon. Perhaps body enhancement also boosted recovery abilities; there were very few scars remaining on Jimmy from injuries over the years.
Nia was very familiar with Jimmy's body, something she envied greatly. She was left with a faintly colored scar from a previous gunshot, even after removal treatment, unable to match the surrounding skin tone. Every time seeing Jimmy's areas that healed completely, she would lament God's unfairness to her.
A hard-working night concluded. The next morning, back at the office, Jimmy suddenly felt his office wasn't quite right. Walking from outside into the office was bright yet had a sense of oppression and suffocation, awkward in some way, probably related to the room structure, as nobody likes an entirely enclosed environment. Perhaps his initial choice was flawed; this wasn't as ideal as an outside cubicle with windows.
Nonetheless, this office being one he got through Tim Dunn was the best available; uncomfortable or not, he had to endure it for a while. Jimmy checked the computer for recent cases to see if there was anything needing his attention, as he ought to justify his salary regardless of being in a quiet period now.
