Chapter 1329 - 722: Unexpected Incident
Steven provided two addresses, one located in the high desert area and the other in a mountain community far from the city. Jimmy had already checked the map in the afternoon, and he was confident about his travel sequence. As long as the addresses were correct, he wouldn't get lost.
Moving at night not only meant avoiding patrols by the State Police and City Police, but also moving as quickly as possible, which was somewhat conflicting. Moreover, because of the short preparation time, he didn't get his hands on a black-market gun during the day. Hence, Jimmy only had a few small gadgets in his backpack and no other weapons on this outing.
The lack of weapons wasn't a problem. Given his current physical condition, even barehanded, he could be extremely lethal to ordinary people. However, if he killed a victim, it would draw police investigation.
To minimize suspicion, he needed to make many things look like accidents. Although Jimmy had never done such things before, he had seen plenty of accident-related information in the data he studied over the years. The things in his bag were merely backups. He'd use whatever he could find on site, and there were many ways he could go about it. Worst case scenario, there was always the crude method of strangulation.
The wealthy neighborhood was the most troublesome. The high desert area was one of Albuquerque's affluent districts, where police patrol density was significantly higher than in the city. Jimmy had good vision and hearing, so unless it was a disguised police car, he could spot the outline of police lights from afar. Naturally, he would avoid attracting attention.
After circling around, Jimmy quickly reached the target community. The houses here were standalone with wider spacing, not quite villas but still farther apart than those in the city, making it harder for Jimmy to hide.
However, there was an advantage: the environment in the upscale community was excellent, with plenty of tall trees and lawns.
He parked his motorcycle under a big tree and moved forward along the shadows to avoid being in the light. Meanwhile, he kept an eye out for surveillance cameras on the corners of the houses he passed until he arrived at his target address.
It was already early morning, and all the houses here had their lights off, except for one room in Jimmy's target.
After getting closer to the house, Jimmy realized it didn't quite seem like the target. The lit room was on the first floor, seemingly a servant's quarters, with two single beds placed side by side, and two people lying in them resting. This type of accommodation clearly wasn't where a big shot would live.
Sneaking to the side of the house, Jimmy took a glance through the window. Through the curtain gap, he saw an older woman lying on one of the beds, confirming his initial judgment.
As for others, there were only two people in a large bedroom on the second floor. Given this setup, it seemed like this wasn't the target, or perhaps the target wasn't here. However, Jimmy needed to be sure.
The second-floor position was quite high, but it wasn't a problem for Jimmy. He climbed a bit along the nearby rainwater pipe, lightly jumped to the side, reached out to grab the windowsill, and looked inside past the window with his head.
There was indeed a gap in the curtains, but its direction was a bit off. Jimmy had no choice but to climb up forcefully and try to open the window. With the faint light from a floor lamp, he saw a person with a head full of white hair lying on the bed, confirming this definitely wasn't his target.
Jimmy removed any trace of opening the window, took the chance to wipe off all the dust on the windowsill as well. It looked cleaner, but he avoided leaving any glove marks. As he descended the rainwater pipe, he also wiped the areas he touched to ensure that even if traces were discovered, there'd be no concrete clues, and then he left the target house.
While walking, he observed his surroundings. When passing a garbage can, he removed his gloves and threw them inside, then found his motorcycle and quickly left the community.
This time, Jimmy was acting alone without any specific target location details. He had to rely on himself, ensuring he left no traces and not taking excessive actions to avoid exposure. In essence, he inversely applied the experience from his past investigations.
He evaded all possible surveillance and avoided anyone seeing him. The timing was chosen to be the early morning hours when almost no one would be on the streets. The only trouble in the upscale community was the relatively frequent security patrols and police patrols, forcing him to adapt quickly, changing routes as soon as he saw anyone, which resulted in spending far more time there than expected.
The mountain community was slightly easier compared to the high desert area. Located in the mountains east of Albuquerque, it wasn't too far from Hank's home. Jimmy had some past impressions from his previous visits.
Because it was far from the city, police patrols here were less frequent than in the high desert community, making it easier for Jimmy to approach his target. Moreover, being on a mountainside, the spacing between the houses was greater, which was advantageous for Jimmy.
When he approached the target location, he suddenly discovered a big issue: the people in the house weren't resting. The whole house was brightly lit, and shadows of people could occasionally be seen in the windows.
