Chapter 1320 - 718: Exposed

Chapter 1320 - 718: Exposed

Jimmy was now wearing casual clothes, carrying only a Glock and a magazine tucked into his waistband without a holster. This made him look more like a gang member than a Federation agent. Steven was the same. After they controlled the person in the surveillance room, they were relatively safe.

It had been safe here for so long that everyone had let their guard down. When Jimmy and Steven broke into the surveillance room, the person inside hadn't even realized they weren't his own people and was easily subdued. They tied him up with zip ties and gagged him to prevent shouting. Everything was settled.

The surveillance van outside never expected Jimmy and Steven to act so quickly after entering. They were initially supposed to just come in to investigate and record content with the bugs and cameras on their bodies for later analysis. Jimmy's direct takeover of the surveillance room took everyone outside by surprise. They weren't informed to stop until the duo reached the corridor, preparing to enter the hideout.

But for Jimmy, that notice was too late. He could see everyone's positions. When he told Steven he was going to take a look inside, Steven knew what Jimmy intended to do. Since Jimmy had already begun the operation, he couldn't be left behind.

They waited at the corner briefly. As a security guard passed, Jimmy reached out to cover the man's mouth, pulling him in. He pressed down on the carotid artery on his neck, and soon the guard stopped struggling.

Seeing this, Steven frowned. Wow, Jimmy truly lived up to being Tom's nephew, a CIA-trained FBI agent. This kind of move to cut off blood flow and cause unconsciousness was risky. FBI agents typically wouldn't resort to this, as a mistake would be too costly.

Jimmy dragged the man back to the surveillance room, tied him up, and ensured his heartbeat and breathing were normal, breathing a sigh of relief. He learned a few methods of inducing unconsciousness with his instructor, but rarely got to practice. His control was strong, otherwise, even someone trained could have mishaps easily.

Steven: "Are we just going to storm in?"

Jimmy: "Try to be cautious and capture everything on camera. These will be evidence. There are surely drug dealings, prostitution, and other activities here, no need to worry."

The two left again, finding it easier this time. Many security personnel weren't in the corridors, and without notice, they'd likely stick to their shift schedules and patrols, leaving some areas unguarded.

They first went upstairs, discreetly opening doors on either side, using the camera on their buttons to capture the scenes inside. After just two or three rooms, Jimmy reached for his gun's grip, but Steven quickly held his hand to stop him, "Don't be rash."

Jimmy had only seen human silhouettes before, and with many people clustered together, he couldn't make out much. Now, witnessing their actions firsthand, he really wanted to draw his gun.

Inside, a man and woman were engaged in activity, but the girl looked very young. Based on her appearance, her age couldn't be too high. This shocking scene was a severe challenge to Jimmy's beliefs, so his reaction was not surprising.

Steven softly urged Jimmy to stay calm and gently closed the door. There were many more rooms to check. They couldn't alert the people inside. The mission was paramount, and Steven was clear-headed about this.

Jimmy wasn't out of control, just considering that the worst-case scenario was fighting his way out. With just over a dozen bullets, he'd manage. Even if he didn't seize enemy weapons, his combat and evasion skills were enough to escape through a crowd of common gang members without much trouble.

Withdrawing his hand from the gun, Jimmy nodded to Steven, and they continued down the corridor, soon reaching the third floor.

At the staircase, a security guard was present, whom Jimmy knocked out with a blow to the head, then tossed into the bathroom adjacent to the stairs, ensuring he wouldn't be discovered before they left.

But their plan was too simplistic. Someone had noticed the anomaly in the surveillance room, leading to many people emerging from the rooms. Jimmy immediately pulled Steven into a nearby empty room, "They're coming."

Since this mission was primarily for investigation, they wore concealed earpieces and cameras. Their conversation was audible to the team in the surveillance van, who immediately shouted, "They've been discovered. Abandon the mission and leave immediately."

Jimmy: "It's too late. We're on the third floor, and the only way down is the stairs, which they've already blocked. Call for backup, and don't come until reinforcements arrive."

After notifying the van team, Jimmy glanced at Steven, "Looks like we might need to get active. How are your hand-to-hand combat skills?"

Steven: "Pretty average. Haven't had to fight in a long time."

Jimmy: "Then stay in the back and be careful."

He peeked outside. The guard hadn't alerted too many, but their associates had clearly been informed. The first-floor corridor was already filled with over a dozen people, searching the second floor and basement. It seemed there wouldn't be too many when they reached the third floor. Looking up at the rooms above, he saw two likely alerted by the notice, as they had drawn their guns but remained inside, likely some sort of leaders.
