Chapter 1306 - 711: Confession

Chapter 1306 - 711: Confession

The inspection of the underground warehouse where the kidnapped girls were held shocked all the agents. The traces here indicate that the bloody events that occurred in this place were definitely not just one or two. The exact number requires testing the bloodstains to determine, but based solely on these inferences, during the time this warehouse was in use, Hammer and his team kidnapped quite a few girls. After all, surely some people didn't resist for various reasons and thus weren't injured.

Besides the underground warehouse, the ground-level inspection is also underway, especially the workshop where the underground warehouse is located. The agents concluded that it would be impossible for just six or seven of them to commit so many crimes, after all, kidnapping is not restricted to one place and requires moving from place to place. If there are not many of them, then there would be too much to do to complete the kidnappings.

The FBI Salt Lake City office also mobilized two teams to start analyzing girls who have gone missing in Utah over the past two years. Gathering the missing person information from various police stations takes quite some time, after all, not every police station honestly inputs all case information into the system.

The factory's underground warehouse was discovered, and the kidnapped girls were rescued. Team members betrayed, Hammer received these results not long after Jimmy reappeared in front of him. Of course, this also meant there was a problem with his previous deal.

Feeling utterly hopeless, Hammer said nothing more, only requesting to contact his lawyer. Jimmy did not prevent him; it was a legitimate request, and in this interrogation room, such demands would certainly be met. However, Jimmy knew that Hammer would have no chance of escaping.

Those serving as public defenders are usually some apprentices, novices. They may be familiar with various laws and regulations, but their ability to respond effectively is clearly inadequate. Upon learning that the FBI got new leads from another accomplice, raiding their warehouse where the kidnapped girls were hidden, he was a little stunned. It seemed that his client did not trust the lawyer much. Negotiating a deal with the FBI is not easy; after finally making some progress, his client messed up again.

The lawyer was also helpless, as there was simply too much clear evidence against Hammer. The best option now was not to tangle with the FBI but contact the Federal Prosecutor directly.

After synchronizing the current situation with Hammer, the lawyer contacted Jimmy and Hope. Jimmy had encountered these processes many times and found them uninteresting, so he left everything to Hope to handle.

People like this are just wasting food by living; spending time on him is pointless.

Public defenders are free for suspects; every minute they waste on the suspect means less time working on other cases. Cases with very clear evidence are not worth much effort. The lawyer works very efficiently, but this is just the preliminary process, and the case has not yet closed. There is still a long way to go.

Hammer remained silent, and the other two didn't know much. Hammer was responsible for contacting clients; they were just responsible for contacting unrelated drivers and for the kidnappings. Relatively speaking, they could not tell the agents much, nor were they clear if they were Hammer's only team members.

In fact, the entire team's activities, including funds and operations, were managed by Hammer, which means Hammer was the leader of their team. With their identification, Hammer's chances of escape or sentence reduction are getting lower and lower. His lawyer grew more desperate, and eventually, the two seemed to have reached an impasse in the interrogation room. Out of professional ethics, the lawyer did not directly abandon the case, but he would not do much more either.

Hammer was transferred to Federal Prison in Salt Lake City for temporary detention. The FBI office's interrogation room is not a prison; they couldn't hold him for too long.

Salt Lake City wasn't Jimmy's turf, but he wasn't completely powerless either. Hammer shouldn't dream of living comfortably in prison anymore.

Finding a former student of Jimmy's, Jimmy smoked and chatted with him downstairs about the major gangs and well-known figures in the Salt Lake City prison. Even ordinary agents can probe such information, related to the case Jimmy's handling now. And the prison Jimmy arranged for Hammer to enter, the agent clearly understood Jimmy's intention, smiled, nodded, and left the trash can area.

Although just a junior agent, his thoughts were correct. He didn't provide any information to Jimmy, but two days later, Jimmy received news that Hammer was badly beaten in prison. When they interrogated Hammer again, his bruised face, coupled with a missing tooth, made Jimmy and Hope quite happy after leaving the interrogation room.

After being beaten twice in a row, Hammer finally understood what was going on; someone was deliberately targeting him. Moreover, the place they stayed was a suspect's holding cell awaiting trial. Those with major crimes wouldn't appear here. Under such circumstances, the fact that he was beaten twice makes it unbelievable it wasn't arranged by the FBI persons, even if they deny it.

But he had no evidence and couldn't make a report or complaint. He currently has only two choices: one is to endure, and as for what will happen in the coming days, it's completely uncertain. The other is to conclude the case quickly, leave here, and wait for subsequent court trials to arrange for another Federal Prison.

Hammer and his group are involved in kidnapping, entirely different from mafia thugs. Even if his charges are more heinous, he still can't withstand others' punches. Ultimately, Hammer, after being beaten a fourth time, was directly escorted by prison guards to a hospital for treatment, requesting that the guards help contact the FBI.
