Chapter 1293 - 705: Dirty Cop?
Chapter 1293 - 705: Dirty Cop?
Jack spoke while walking towards the patrol car, the rookie cop had already reached the side of the car with a tray of coffee. He glanced at Jimmy and asked Jack, "Who is he? Does he need help?"
Jack: "Don't worry about him, it's none of your business, get in the car."
Jack and the rookie cop got into the patrol car. Jimmy came to the car and took out a business card from his pocket, handing it to Jack, who was already seated in the driver's seat, "You know I can apply to get the phone records and recordings, as well as other information. I'll wait for your news, don't take too long."
After speaking, he turned around and walked towards the Suburban. The patrol car up front began to start but stayed there without moving, so Jimmy stood outside the driver's door, opening the door while waiting for Jack's reaction.
After a long dozen seconds, the patrol car signaled a turn, Jack extended his hand from the car window and waved. Jimmy smiled and got into the car, started the engine, and followed the patrol car driven by Jack.
While driving, Jimmy dialed Hope's phone number: "I found some clues here, please wait for me at the precinct."
Hope: "Alright, I also have a cop who used to be responsible for Shirley Street helping out, checking clues."
Jimmy: "Notify me when you have results, also, ask them to help check if there's a guy nicknamed 'Crow'."
Hope: "Crow, got it."
Jimmy hung up the phone and followed Jack slowly out of the city center. Soon, on the roadside ahead of them, a police car was parked there. Jack parked his car next to the vehicle, the rookie cop got off, got into the adjacent car, and Jack continued driving forward.
This person seems alright, regardless of any ideas he has next, not involving the intern officer is definitely a good choice. Intern officers are uncontrollable factors, prone to impulsive mistakes.
Jack drove with Jimmy out of the urban area, arriving in front of a rundown factory in the suburbs. He got out of the car and walked to Jimmy's car, "I need your promise."
Jimmy: "I am here to investigate the case, not interested in you guys, so as long as I can get what I need, no one will come looking for trouble."
Jack: "Including other departments or other people."
Jimmy: "Of course, you have my promise. By the way, my name is Jimmy, Jimmy Yang, nice to meet you."
Jack's face showed no signs of happiness. He walked to the factory gate, pushing open the closed wire gate, and then restarted the car, bringing Jimmy into the factory area.
Interesting, the place Jack brought Jimmy to should be a stronghold, just not clear whose it is, but surely not a trap. Although there were five people inside, four of them surrounded a table playing cards, the last one was watching TV.
Transforming the workshop of an abandoned factory into a livable stronghold, these people have some ideas. Normally, no one would come here, ensuring it's relatively safe.
The sound of Jack and Jimmy's car startled the people inside, soon the person watching TV came out of the building, "Hey, Jack, what brings you here? Who's that guy?"
Jack reached out to stop the other person from trying to hug his arm: "Skinny guy, about what we discussed earlier, where's the Crow?"
Skinny is a slim young man, not very short, around 180cm tall, but seems lacking in muscle. This physique, coupled with his abnormal pale complexion, makes one suspect he may be consuming certain substances, possibly even addicted.
Skinny: "Crow's already left Karin, two, three weeks ago maybe. Why are you looking for him?"
Jack: "Where did he go? You haven't told me his name."
Skinny: "Come on! Buddy, how would I know his name, it's enough to know he's called Crow. Who knows where he went, every year he disappears for a few months, it's quite common."
Jack: "Alright, give me a photo of him... Don't look at me like that, I know you must have one..."
Skinny directly reached out his hand, Jack slapped away Skinny's hand: "This isn't buying clues, it's very important, buddy, you don't want to get involved in this."
"Tch" Skinny glanced at Jimmy standing behind Jack and realized this might lead to trouble, so he turned and went back to the building.
Jack turned his head towards Jimmy: "I've done all I can; I'm still not sure if it's him, but Crow does have a crow tattoo on his neck."
Jimmy: "Hmm, thanks... FK, is he messing with you, is he about to run?"
Jimmy had just thanked Jack when he suddenly saw Skinny, who had entered the building, quickly searching beside them and grabbing something, then accelerating to run to the back. The four others who had been playing cards hesitated at his actions and quickly grabbed the money from the table and followed him running away.
Jimmy's face changed, without waiting for Jack's response, he directly rushed towards the building. This was so interesting, Jimmy originally thought Jack, a semi-shady cop, should be able to control and suppress such gangsters, completely unexpected that the other side just ran away. It was too unpredictable, by the time he rushed to the back door, those five had completely dispersed and run out from the back door.
Jimmy ran while keeping his eyes on the skinny guy ahead, finally catching up with him after running a long street. Jimmy reached out and grabbed the fabric on his back, pulling hard, the force of Skinny's forward momentum was instantly cut off, the fabric didn't tear, quite a testament to its quality, but his feet couldn't stop, nearly hanging horizontally in the air, if Jimmy hadn't held onto him tightly, he would definitely have been lying on the ground.
Jimmy reached out and twisted Skinny's right hand behind his back, "Don't move."
A few people nearby slowly gathered around to watch the commotion, Jimmy took out his badge with his left hand, "FBI, everyone stay back."
Right afterward, the sound of police sirens came from behind, approaching quickly, Jack driving his patrol car arrived.
"Clear the area! All of you, disperse, don't crowd around here." Jack commanded loudly, drawing a Glock as he got out of the car to drive away the onlookers, driving them back further although they probably rarely saw the FBI catching people, while they didn't approach again, they stayed just meters away watching Jimmy deal with Skinny.
Jack walked over and handed his handcuffs to Jimmy. Jimmy cuffed Skinny and hauled him up, picking up a shabby backpack that had fallen to the ground and putting it in the patrol car's back seat.
Jimmy: "Jack, find a quiet place."
Jack nodded, turned off the patrol car's lights and alarm, and drove back to the factory. Jimmy got out, drove his car, and followed Jack away from the area.
By the Mississippi River, Jack and Jimmy stopped their cars here. Jack brought Skinny out from the vehicle, such a quiet, deserted place truly scared Skinny.
Jack's face was quite ugly as he saw Jimmy getting out and coming over, reaching out to stop him: "Agent, give me some time, I have some words I need to discuss with him."
Jimmy nodded: "Remember the information I need."
Jack: "Of course."
He pushed Skinny into the nearby woods, the woodland was sparse, Jimmy could see their position inside from outside, only slightly obscured.
Jimmy stood in place watching Jack, Jack seemed a bit angry, his small movements were quite a lot, even from pretty far away with some obstruction, Jimmy still heard Skinny's screams of pain slowly fade away.
Soon, Jack returned from the woods, picking up Skinny's backpack and rummaging through it, pulled out a wallet and extracted a photo from inside.
Jack walked over to Jimmy with the photo, "This is who you want, Allen Hammer, the third from the left in the photo."
Jimmy took the photo, "Who are the other three?"
Jack: "I didn't ask, but I guess they're all members of their gang. The fifth is Skinny."
Jimmy: "Okay, any other information?"
Jack: "Hammer has been missing for nearly three weeks. As for what he's doing, no one knows. Normally he disappears for no more than a month and comes back, goes out about four or five times a year. Also, Hammer's previous place is now abandoned; it's a homeless spot now. That's all."
Jimmy: "OK, need help?"
Jack: "No, I'll handle it. Our deal is done, right?"
Jimmy: "Yeah, pleasure cooperating!"
Jack waved his hand, turned and picked up the backpack heading back to the patrol car, then continued towards the woods to look for Skinny.
