North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 1274 - 697: Speculation

Chapter 1274 - 697: Speculation

This interrogation was very simple. Just a little bit of threat, and the intensity of the Tucker Family's activities tonight were enough to scare Bob.

At first, he didn't understand what was going on. But when Jimmy explained the current situation, he was dumbfounded. Initially, he demanded a lawyer to be present before answering questions, but upon realizing he had helped two FBI agents get away, some things had to be said. Gang members can have a hard shell, but such people are few, and he's not one of them.

First resistance, and then he made a little deal with Jimmy without a lawyer present. After that, Bob revealed everything he knew.

Bob is a craftsman; he used to mainly do petty crimes. Naturally, he wasn't a big figure in the gang, but his skills were relatively useful to some extent, so a few people in the Tucker Family's gang knew him, making him a bit of a notable figure among the lower ranks.

This time he was entrusted by someone to get a car and to transport people out of DC. Of course, the related costs weren't small.

Bob quickly locked onto a pickup and arrived at the gas station at the designated time. Soon a truck arrived next to his vehicle. He met with the person who had pre-arranged the vehicle, helped them remove the truck's license plate, and put two bound individuals into the pickup truck bed. Then he drove them away, pocketed the remaining reward and went home. But before he had the chance to enjoy himself, he was caught by gang members.

As for the people he sent off, they just left Washington, D.C., going to Maryland, but he wasn't clear on their specific destination because he was forced out of the car after leaving Washington, D.C.

Though he didn't know their names, he could provide the phone number they used. After all, they needed to call him to arrange the transportation, and the middleman was also a small-time thug from Washington, D.C., who knew him.

Leaving the interrogation room, Jimmy and Hope exchanged a glance. Jimmy said, "That guy's informant fee should be halved, fuck, seriously affecting our judgment."

Hope shrugged, the money was already given, and reported to Peter, it's not that easy to cut it in half.

Finding Peter, Jimmy asked Hope to show Peter the interrogation notes and have the tech team locate the phone number Bob provided, while he took a quick bathroom break.

On returning from the bathroom, Peter and the others had already gone back to the command center. Although it was late at night, two tech staff were still on duty.

The tech staff entered the phone number obtained during the interrogation into the system and quickly uncovered some information.

The phone number was a prepaid, unregistered one, and had been turned off. It was currently difficult to locate them, but since it was recent, the tech staff could still pull out the phone information from the data bank of roadside cell towers, thus forming a movement trajectory. This only required a bit of time and also some support from the NSA.

Peter could handle getting NSA support, but it had to wait until daytime as some procedures needed to be processed. At headquarters, an assistant agent supervisor wasn't a big shot, not as relaxed as in the field office.

Besides phone number tracking, they had other tasks to do. Jimmy and the team could rest since they'd been exhausted all day. Peter, however, needed to stay awake a bit longer and organize people to capture that middleman thug in the morning and perform a search of Bob's home.

These chaotic tasks didn't need Jimmy's involvement. They needed rest so that when leads came up later, they'd still be needed on field missions. Peter, now in a managerial role, had to smartly manage his resources. Plenty of people could perform searches and arrests, but few were like Jimmy, who could resolve a lead in just two or three days upon arriving in DC.

Hope was quite decent, appearing to work meticulously. With the closure of this case, he should have the potential for development. Peter wasn't only asking Jimmy for help with the case, as he also intended to make a small impact at headquarters, and maybe the opportunity for advancement had already quietly opened.

On the second day, it was close to noon when Jimmy returned to headquarters. After Peter arranged the search and capture plans, he fell asleep half-lying in his office chair. Jimmy glanced over and went into the adjacent conference room.

In the afternoon, Hope also returned, Peter had awakened, and the previously planned capture had been successfully completed.

The middleman thug didn't withstand the interrogation. Due to the agents' disappearance case in the past two days, too many people saw their operations, and everyone involved was filled with anger. This small-time thug had never experienced being captured by the FBI before, and compared to the police, the FBI was undoubtedly more terrifying. So after the continuous questioning, he still provided some leads.

In the conference room, Peter, Jimmy, and the rest were there. The results of the interrogation and the phone number investigation provided by the tech staff were gathered here, and now they needed to assign the follow-up tasks.

The tech staff had compiled the cell tower information of the phone number. According to the base station tracking, the phone number moved from the south of Washington, D.C., towards the north, and after leaving Washington, D.C., it headed towards Baltimore. The phone signal disappeared in the suburbs, they most likely had destroyed that phone, but they already knew the direction and the time spent at various locations, so the next step was to investigate.
