Chapter 1242 - 681: The Same Model Revolver (Part 2)

Chapter 1242 - 681: The Same Model Revolver (Part 2)

It's been about half a month, and they've only confirmed one more student, whose disappearance was entirely her own doing. She had a fight with her family and ran away without even going to school. This is considered good news, at least it's not another body found. As for her unwillingness to return home or go to school, that's her own problem, as long as the NYPD can successfully close the case.

So in recent days, when Jimmy and Nia talk on the phone, Nia hasn't been in a good mood; the efficiency is too low, and there are too many cases. Even though they have achievements, failure won't be punished, nor will it affect their evaluations, but not doing their own work well would make anyone who's not too lazy feel bad.

Jimmy couldn't do much; comforting over the phone was not quite enough. When the weekend came, Jimmy drove over to spend the weekend with her, as a gesture of kindness. He couldn't just skip his FBI duties to accompany Nia on the missing persons investigation, so if he could make Nia happy for a while, it would be nice; with a better mood, the casework wouldn't be so frustrating.

Of course, Nia and the others could return, but they're all ambitious young people; they've achieved too little and really don't want to just go back to work like that.

Jimmy found out their thoughts while chatting in bed with Nia, so he could only accept it and let them continue investigating. Fortunately, everyone agreed that no matter what the result, they must return after at most a month. The department has even decided that once they return, they will have a long vacation to recuperate, so for now, the small group's atmosphere is still fairly good.

-----------------

Everything seemed normal until Rodney, the priest, who he hadn't contacted for a while, called him. Jimmy suddenly noticed something seemed to have happened; Rodney's voice sounded very peculiar.

Taking advantage of his lunch break, Jimmy drove to the church and was surprised when he saw Rodney, asking, "Rodney, how did you get so badly injured?"

Rodney was wearing a priest's robe, but his right hand was wrapped in bandages, almost completely wrapped, with each finger individually bandaged. There was a new scar on his left cheek, judging by the scabbing, it looked recent. But given Rodney's identity, such a level of disfigurement wouldn't keep him from seeing people. Perhaps it would make him seem more imposing in the future.

Rodney: "I ran into some trouble, but it's been solved. Did you bring your gun?"

Jimmy nodded: "Yes, I brought it, why?"

Rodney: "Let me see it."

Jimmy pulled out an 1875, unloaded the bullets, and handed it to Rodney by the grip. He inspected it, then returned it to Jimmy, "Show me your shooting stance."

Jimmy, puzzled, raised the gun toward the wall on the side, eyes on Rodney, "What's going on?"

Rodney took a deep breath, "Okay, you can put it away. Jimmy, where was this gun customized? Are there any similar ones out there?"

Jimmy: "No, only these two, they're a pair; left hand is a right-hand revolver, right hand is a left-hand revolver."

Rodney with a stern look said: "Then someone has made a replica of your gun."

Jimmy squinted, "This was a gun used exclusively by the gunmen in Roland's world. Roland was the last gunman. How could anyone else have such a gun?" "Someone has one like this? Where?"

Rodney the priest: "An exorcist used this type of gun to resolve a unique incident. We lost a newly appointed priest exorcist and another experienced priest was injured in the incident."

Jimmy, somewhat agitated, asked: "How did that happen? Are you sure it's an exorcist? What's his name? Are there any photos?"

Rodney the priest shook his head: "I didn't see him; it was that injured priest who said it. He was involved last time you saved me and saw the gun, so he recognized it."

Jimmy: "What did he look like? White? Black? Latino? Or Asian?"

Rodney the priest: "Black, seemed a bit older, but wasn't very clear. Oh, and he was wearing a leather jacket that looked quite dated."

Jimmy: "Where?"

Rodney the priest: "Vermont, outside of Montpelier."

Jimmy nodded: "I see. I'll confirm with others first; theoretically, there shouldn't be any other guns like this out there. Thanks, Rodney."

Rodney the priest nodded: "It would be best if you could identify him, but be careful, he's quite skilled with a gun."

Jimmy smiled and said: "Rest assured, I'm very good with a gun too. Well, I'll head back now. Goodbye, Rodney."

Rodney watched Jimmy turn and leave, also nodding. Undoubtedly, in terms of gun skills, especially with handguns and revolvers, he'd never seen anyone faster or more accurate than Jimmy, particularly during several exorcism activities they'd participated in, firing six shots per second, hitting an extremely small area precisely. He had never seen anyone else capable of that.

Actually, he was quite puzzled too; the person wielding a gun identical to Jimmy's was such an unlikely coincidence. Either there was a mass production of such guns, or there was some connection between them. In any case, after losing track of that person, asking Jimmy to investigate seemed the best choice.

Actually, his hope in finding that person was to bring in a strong ally; the newly joined exorcist priests were not yet reliable, needing quite a long time to practice and gain experience. Losing one in this incident was truly a loss.

If not for Jimmy's special identity, he really hoped Jimmy could cooperate with them. Given Jimmy's combat skills, paired with the exorcism weapon provided by the church, even without a priest's exorcism prayer, they would still be enough to suppress some special enemies. But alas, Father White had already said, before Jimmy had a child, to protect him as much as possible, so there was nothing he could do.

Jimmy left the church and drove straight home. He went to the study, took out Little Rock's phone, and dialed Roland's number, but found the owner of the number had changed.

Roland had returned to his hometown a few years ago; his phone number had been deactivated and recycled after overdue payment. Jimmy was just trying his luck— it didn't matter if he failed.

Based on Rodney's description alone, that person might very well be Roland: same type of gun, same old leather jacket, and still Black. These characteristics were too similar to Roland. Could he have returned?

Strangely, his phone number from Little Rock had been paid consistently and had never been deactivated, yet he hadn't received any calls from him in these years. If he really returned, why hadn't he called?

They weren't strangers; after Roland left, he specifically found two guns and a Black Rainbow to be delivered to Jimmy. You could see from this that his relationship with Jimmy was more than he let on when he said not to contact him.

Jimmy sat in the chair, staring blankly. With only Rodney's description, there was no way to determine if it was Roland. Even if it was him, it was unlikely they'd find his location now. If Roland could still exorcise, he was definitely not a powerless old man. After helping the priest exorcise, he must have left the scene—where he went, no one knew.

It had been years since he'd seen Roland, and he really missed him. Jimmy had many questions he wanted to ask Roland, but with the worlds apart, he couldn't contact him. If Roland really might have returned, then no matter how difficult, he had to try looking for him.

Jimmy took out the tutorials he had previously recorded, found a frontal screenshot of Roland, and saved it. In the afternoon, he returned to the office to print it out. Next was waiting for a break to go look for him, starting from Vermont, Montpelier.
