Chapter 1141 - 634: Demolition

Chapter 1141 - 634: Demolition

Priest Rodney: "Yes, I'll perform an exorcism ceremony by myself before the explosion to ensure there are no issues."

Jimmy: "So, what about the payment? Are you paying?"

Rodney frowned; during their earlier discussion, there had been no mention of the payment for the explosion expert. For the Bishop and senior priests of the New York Archdiocese, hiring such people seemed to involve no discussions of payment, or perhaps it was something they never needed to consider, "I'll need to report to Bishop Anderson to confirm."

Jimmy: "I'm a bit worried..." he paused, "you know, you suffered heavy losses the last two times you faced the Chaos Gate followers. Relying on just you to destroy their altar this time is still very risky."

Rodney: "Do you mean we should all stay here and wait for Bishop Anderson's arrangements?"

Jimmy nodded: "For safety's sake, you'd be better off with more people."

Rodney turned his head to look at the few people already in the car, and also looked towards the location of the garbage recycling station. He waved to a few people, and four priests got out of the car again and walked over to them. Priest Rodney said to them: "Everyone, please wait a moment, I'll contact the diocese to see their opinion."

After saying this, Priest Rodney walked into the church, while Jimmy and the others stood in place waiting.

A few minutes later, Priest Rodney came out: "Jimmy, come with me."

Inside the church, Priest Rodney handed his phone to Jimmy: "Bishop Anderson."

Jimmy took it: "Bishop Anderson, this is Jimmy Yang."

Bishop Anderson: "Jimmy, thank you for accompanying them to investigate this incident, much appreciated."

Jimmy: "No, no, there's no need for such politeness. It's what I should do."

Bishop Anderson: "Your suggestion is excellent. I was wondering if you could arrange this matter? As long as the situation can be handled, we have no issue with the necessary expenses."

Jimmy: "That might be a bit problematic. I don't currently know any professional in the field of explosive experts."

Bishop Anderson: "But you certainly have more channels than we do. Please, help us."

Jimmy paused: "Alright, I'll give it a try."

Jimmy handed the phone back to Priest Rodney, who hung up and said: "So, Jimmy, do you have any channels to contact an explosion expert?"

Jimmy: "Give me some time."

Priest Rodney nodded and left the church. Jimmy hadn't expected this task to fall on him. Although it wasn't convenient to publicize, it did count as a regular affair and definitely couldn't use special channels. Jimmy called Dave.

Jimmy: "Dave, I've encountered a little problem here..." Jimmy paused, and Dave didn't speak, so he continued, "Priest Rodney and the others need to destroy a statue of the Evil God, but they can't do it with just a few of them. I called Bishop Anderson earlier, and he wants us to help find an explosion expert to deal with it."

Dave: "Is it necessary?"

Jimmy: "There are five human-sized statues in a basement, but Rodney and the others don't even have a hammer."

Dave thought for a moment and said: "Did you contact Bishop Anderson directly?"

Jimmy: "Priest Rodney made the call, and I spoke to Bishop Anderson a bit. He asked me to help with this matter."

Dave: "I see, handle it on your own, don't connect this matter with us."

Jimmy: "Do you mean... FBI?"

Dave: "Let's leave it at that. Come see me once you're back."

Jimmy: "Got it, goodbye then."

Alright, Dave found this matter troublesome and didn't want to be involved. Jimmy, holding his phone, gave a wry smile. It seemed Dave wasn't entirely supportive of the Vatican folks; involving explosives like this, he also didn't want to get involved.

So, the only option left for Jimmy now was the hotel. As for the Anti-Terrorism Bureau, forget it. Jimmy hadn't contacted them since leaving the CIA.

Jimmy went outside the church and called Rodney into the church inside: "Rodney, I need your phone."

Rodney handed the phone to Jimmy, who directly dialed Charon's number: "Charon, it's Jimmy. I need to place a task for someone else, seeking a professional, an explosion expert."

Charon: "May I ask who it's for?"

Jimmy glanced at Rodney: "Of course, the New York Archdiocese."

Charon: "OK, do you have any requirements?"

Jimmy: "Need to explode five statues, located in a basement, so a very professional person is needed to avoid accidents."

Charon: "I received your message, please wait for my response."

Holding the phone, Jimmy sat down, and Rodney remained silent, both waiting for the call.

A dozen minutes later, a call came in, and it was a man's voice on the other end: "May I speak to Mr. Yang?"

Jimmy: "Yes, speaking."

Man: "I'm the person you're looking for, please give me an address."

Jimmy provided their location, and the other party arranged to meet the following morning.

Ultimately, the four unnamed priests still couldn't leave. Rodney kept them there but briefly left to buy food and sleeping bags.

The next morning, a bearded white man drove a pickup to the church: "I'm looking for Mr. Yang."

Jimmy shook hands with him: "That's me. How should I address you?"

The man didn't pay further attention to the other priests, looking at Jimmy, "Just call me Tony. Where do you need me to work?"

Jimmy: "Come with me, we'll go together."

Jimmy and his team arrived at the garbage recycling station, and Priest Rodney opened the small room, leading Tony into the basement. Tony took out a toolbox to check the material of the statue and recorded the dimensions and the width of the basement before returning to the surface.

He took a notebook from the truck and calculated a lot of data that Jimmy didn't understand on it. Then he nodded to Jimmy, "No problem, I think I can do it."

Jimmy and Rodney talked for a while, and everyone began taking ritual equipment out of the car and going down into the basement. The exorcism ceremony was none of Jimmy's business, so he and Tony stayed outside. Tony had already started adjusting his equipment and preparing the explosives.

Jimmy glanced at a small box in Tony's pickup bed. Geez, that's quite a lot of C4. Considering he only mentioned five statues to Charon, this amount of C4 could probably blow up a house, right?

Tony prepared some tape and plastic tubes, cut the C4 into small pieces, taped them together with the tubes, and then took out a batch of detonators from the truck bed, followed by various wires and controllers. After some manipulation, five sets of discrete C4 explosives were ready.

When Priest Rodney and the others came out, Tony went into the basement under everyone's watch. He drilled a few holes in the five statues and stuffed some explosives into the holes. He also attached some to the statues.

Once ready, Tony connected the wires and called everyone to leave the small house. After coming to the open ground, he looked at everyone, "3...2...1" and pressed the detonator, with a "boom" sound, the explosion echoed from the small house. Dust burst out from the basement entrance visible through the open door, and quickly shot out of the small house, rising into the air.

Before the crowd could approach, Jimmy suddenly drew out his 1875 and fired two shots into the air, "Be careful."

A chilling shockwave came over, causing Jimmy to shiver. Priest Rodney and the others were alright, but Tony's legs went weak, and he slumped to the side.

"Something came out." Jimmy was holding two 1875s aimed at the small house. The weapons of Priest Rodney and the others were also drawn, and the five priests instantly spread out, standing in front of Jimmy and Tony. They also took out holy water bottles from their pockets and poured it on their weapons.

A low voice emanated from the dust of the small room, "I'm back."
