Chapter 1007 - 574: Threat

Chapter 1007 - 574: Threat

Adam: "I know what you want to hear. I've met with him and relayed your message."

Jimmy: "Let's talk in person. I'm outside."

Adam didn't say anything, went straight to the window and looked outside. Jimmy flashed the headlights once and turned them off, and the call was disconnected. Adam came out of the room, opened the passenger door, and sat inside.

Jimmy: "I want to know his reaction."

Adam: "He didn't react. After I finished speaking, he confirmed your name, then ended the meeting and returned to his cell."

Jimmy: "Just confirmed my name?"

Adam: "FBI Senior Agent Jimmy Yang, Manhattan Office, that's all."

Jimmy took out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, handed one to Adam, "Try this, it's made in China."

Adam lit the cigarette, Jimmy opened both car windows and lit one for himself too. The two smoked quietly.

After half a cigarette, Jimmy spoke: "I received news today that someone is investigating my files."

Adam turned to glance at Jimmy, then looked ahead, just stretched his right hand holding the cigarette out of the car to flick the ash, "It's not me."

Jimmy: "I need Curtis's information."

Adam: "I don't know. All I know is that he's a forgery expert, specializes in imitating paintings. You can check the FBI database. He was caught by your people, Peter Bullock."

Jimmy: "So it's a personal vendetta?"

Adam nodded: "Possibly."

Jimmy: "I understand, thank you."

Adam: "You're welcome. I hope you understand, I'm not the obstacle." ʀᴇᴀᴅ ʟᴀᴛᴇsᴛ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀᴛ Nove1Fire.net

Jimmy: "I know, thank you, Adam. Go back, I won't keep you from resting. Goodbye."

Adam nodded, opened the car door and got out, standing on the sidewalk watching Jimmy drive away. Only when the taillights were no longer visible did he throw away the cigarette butt and turned to go back into the house.

It's nighttime now, Jimmy could directly return to the FBI to investigate, but he has a more convenient method.

Jimmy called Jones and went straight to meet him at his apartment.

Jones knew Jimmy's target was Curtis Hagen and told him to find Neil Cavrey because it was Neil and Peter who teamed up to put Curtis in prison, and the methods weren't very pleasant.

Jimmy didn't ask Jones exactly what unpleasant methods were used, he could imagine they were somewhat non-compliant.

Having gotten Neil's phone number and address, Jimmy drove to an old building in Manhattan. Looking at the building in front of him, he felt a bit unbelieving.

A completely white three-story brick structure, with decorative chimneys and pointed roofs, a small balcony on the second floor, brick railings and columns on the outside of the first floor, it looks aged. This kind of house, in this location, valued at least tens of millions of US Dollars, and Neil lives here?

"Isn't this a joke, how could Neil Cavrey, a criminal, live in such a place?"

Ringing the doorbell, a white maid came to the inside door to ask: "Who are you looking for?"

Jimmy showed his FBI badge: "FBI Senior Agent Jimmy Yang, I'm looking for Neil Cavrey."

The maid opened the door, letting Jimmy in, "He's on the third floor."

Jimmy thanked her with a smile, the maid led him to the third floor, knocked on the door, "Neil, an FBI agent is looking for you."

"Come in."

The maid turned the doorknob to open the door, letting Jimmy inside, then closed the door and left.

Jimmy: "Neil, this place you've got is quite nice."

Neil turned to look at Jimmy: "Hi, Jimmy, good evening. What's up?"

Jimmy: "Yeah, I need to know Curtis Hagen's information."

Neil was stunned, "Why?"

Jimmy: "Peter's case, tell me everything you know."

Neil: "Wait, Hagen's already been arrested, he's in prison now. Why is Peter's case related to him?"

Jimmy: "A prosecutor was threatened by Hagen, insisting on bringing Peter to court. I've handled the initial part, now I need to understand how Hagen managed to threaten a prosecutor."

Neil looked at Jimmy, stunned for a few seconds, then walked to the nearby liquor cabinet: "Care for a drink? Wine?"

Jimmy: "Sure."

Jimmy moved to the table and sat down. Neil brought over half a bottle of wine and two glasses, poured the wine, and sat at the side of the table. "Curtis Hagen, also known as the Dutchman, he's a talented con artist, skilled in art restoration, forging painting works. About three years ago, Peter caught him for forging WWII Spanish Victory bonds, sentenced to prison."

Jimmy: "That's it?"

Neil: "Yeah, I don't know him well, just ran into him while investigating a case and caught him, learned a bit about him then. Oh right, we initially traced him due to a counterfeit currency case, he made fake 100 Canadian dollar bills, then discovered the stolen Spanish Victory bonds, he duplicated many copies."

Jimmy: "His family? Social relations?"

Neil: "None, in fact, we have no other information on him. If it wasn't for finding the original West Spain War bonds at the arrest site, we wouldn't have been able to convict him."

Jimmy drank a sip of wine, pondering how to talk to Hagen, suddenly the door opened, someone came in carrying a box, "Neil, I'm almost done... Who's this?"

Jimmy looked at the person entering, Neil immediately said: "This is my friend. Mosquito, this is FBI agent Jimmy Yang, Peter's colleague."

Mosquito: "Oh, seems I've come at the wrong time, goodbye, goodnight both."

He turned to leave, Jimmy spoke: "I should go, if you think of any additional details, give me a call."

Jimmy stood up, took out one of his business cards from his pocket and placed it on the table, "Goodbye, Neil, Mosquito."

Jimmy passed by Mosquito, opened the door, and left.

The next day, Jimmy called Mrs. Mason to ask for a leave, quickly returned to the office, then drove directly to the prison holding Curtis, used his credentials to smoothly enter the prison, surrendered his firearm and waited in the interrogation room for the guards to bring Curtis over.

Soon, a short-haired middle-aged man looking somewhat unkempt was brought in, "Curtis Hagen. FBI Senior Agent Jimmy Yang, I assume you've heard my name."

Curtis was about to sit behind the table, but paused. After a moment, Curtis said: "Agent Yang, how can I assist you?"

Jimmy: "I'm just here to see you, note your name and appearance. We're done now, you can go back."

Jimmy moved to the interrogation room door, knocked on the iron door, "We're finished."

Curtis turned his head to look at Jimmy, the guard opened the door to let Jimmy out, then handcuffed Curtis and took him back to his cell.

Jimmy retrieved his gun and gun holster, and left the prison.

Jimmy didn't say much, because the investigation into his files happened yesterday afternoon, Curtis couldn't have gotten the files himself. Since it was someone else, they surely had to come to the prison to meet Curtis, only then will his files truly appear before Curtis.

He had appeared before Curtis now, surely prompting that person to rush the files over; after some time, checking Curtis's visitor records, he'll naturally find out who went to the hotel to buy his files.

Back at the office, Jimmy greeted others, went to the field office to find Mahong again, confirmed whether there were updates on the current case files, waiting for the result of the federal prosecutor's initiated indictment hearing, then a press conference would be held.
