Chapter 544: At This Age, Living Like a Dog?
Chapter 544: At This Age, Living Like a Dog?
Seeing that the three hadn’t noticed him, Jiang Ding immediately started to back away. He wanted to leave and get reinforcements.
However, just as he moved, a voice rang out beside his ear. "When did the Realm Lord learn of the Young Master’s identity?"
Jiang Ding was baffled. What the heck?! Why can’t I understand a word this old man is saying?!
"I heard that Zhong Qi had some disagreements with the Realm Lord before. Now that Zhong Qi has died, the Realm Lord won’t blame our Lin Family because of him, will he?"
Hearing this, Jiang Ding found it unbelievable. I really want to know what Ning Xuan did to scare these three Lin Family elders this badly!
Instead of answering, Jiang Ding posed his own question to confirm a few things. "That Lin elder is dead? How did he die?"
"He angered the Young Master and deserved to die!"
Jiang Ding’s eyes widened upon hearing the reply.
What in the world is going on?! In such a short time, not only did Ning Xuan steamroll the He Family, he also scared the Lin Family into acting like startled birds! Could he really have some incredible background?!
The thought made his heart tighten, but he quickly chuckled at himself.
It’s not like I tricked Ning Xuan! Besides, I’m on his side. Even if he does have a powerful background, nothing bad could possibly happen to me!
With this in mind, he replied, "Some people should not be provoked lightly."
After saying this, Jiang Ding suddenly added, "By the way, do you happen to know that Ding Heyan is dead?"
The three elders’ eyes constricted.
"What?!"
"How did he die?!"
"Who would dare to—"
They all fell silent abruptly.
Jiang Ding nodded and added two more words, "One strike."
The three men gasped. Now, they were even more certain that Ning Xuan was the one they had been waiting for.
The other two looked at the Great Elder, their faces filled with relief. Thank goodness our leader stopped us in time. The consequences would have been unimaginable!
"Second Brother, Third Brother, take the body away quickly, then go and prepare the banquet at once!" the Lin Family’s Great Elder ordered, snapping into action.
The two didn’t dare to delay and acted with the utmost speed.
"Ah, Realm Lord, I must trouble you to put in a good word for our Lin Family with the Young Master later."
After the two left, only the Great Elder and Jiang Ding remained. The Great Elder’s attitude became even more respectful.
"Of course, of course," Jiang Ding replied, inwardly bursting with joy.
Despite being the Realm Lord and possessing top-tier strength, he wasn’t actually a native of Dali. Because of this, the major families had always feigned respect while many outright ignored him. A scene like today’s had never happened before.
And all of this was because of Ning Xuan.
For a moment, Jiang Ding was overwhelmed with a mix of emotions.
I originally thought Ning Xuan would be the one relying on me, but look how things have turned out. Still, it’s all good. At least I never acted arrogantly in front of him. Otherwise, I would’ve ended up like the Lin Family... their Patriarch and most promising young talent killed, and they still have to suck up to Ning Xuan in every way possible! What a miserable fate!
"On behalf of the entire Lin Family, I, Lin Changsheng, thank you for your immense kindness, Realm Lord," the Great Elder said, bowing deeply with extreme humility.
"Great Elder, there’s no need for such formalities."
"If the Realm Lord doesn’t mind, please just call me Changsheng."
Jiang Ding was laughing inwardly but declined on the surface. "That wouldn’t be appropriate. You’re several decades my senior, after all."
"How could you say that, Realm Lord? You are the master of this entire Realm. In other words, you are our protector and governor."
Jiang Ding coughed. "Changsheng, what’s all this about being a governor? I haven’t done anything to deserve such a title. Anyway, you should go, too. This matter allows for no mistakes!"
His words left Lin Changsheng with no reason to refuse. He had no choice but to leave, albeit reluctantly.
Once he was gone, Jiang Ding mustered his courage and moved forward. He had a premonition that Lord Jin might be inside. He would have gone straight in before, but after seeing Lin Changsheng’s attitude, he wasn’t so sure anymore.
As he hesitated, Ning Xuan suddenly appeared.
"Realm Lord, what are you doing here?" Ning Xuan asked, quite surprised to see him.
Jiang Ding glanced inside, saw nothing unusual, and quickly relayed what had just happened.
"They have the wrong person," Ning Xuan said directly, not bothering to hide the truth.
"I’ll be damned..." Jiang Ding felt his scalp tingle. If this gets exposed, my life is going to be hell!
"It’s fine. You can go. I’ll handle this," Ning Xuan said after a glance at Jiang Ding.
Jiang Ding hesitated. "Are you sure you can handle it?"
"It’s just the insignificant Lin Family."
Hearing this, even Jiang Ding couldn’t help but marvel internally at the formidable nature of the younger generation. For a brief moment, he even felt a sudden impulse to join Ning Xuan and stir up some real trouble.
But he quickly composed himself, told Ning Xuan to be careful, and left at the first opportunity. He shot away through the air, a movement that naturally didn’t escape the notice of the Lin Family’s experts, but no one paid him any mind.
As soon as Lin Changsheng noticed his departure, however, he immediately headed toward the Secret Vault. There, he saw Ning Xuan outside, relaxing in a rocking chair with one leg crossed over the other, leisurely enjoying the evening glow.
Startled for a moment, Lin Changsheng couldn’t help but admire him. As expected of someone from the Chi Ming Imperial City. He really knows how to enjoy life!
"Young Master, our Lin Family has a place that is even more suitable for—" Lin Changsheng began to say with a smile, but he stopped abruptly and swallowed his words.
Ning Xuan had suddenly opened his eyes, his face etched with displeasure.
Trepidation flooded Lin Changsheng’s heart.
"Can’t you see I’m busy?! Even Jiang Ding knew to get lost. Did you live all these years just to learn nothing? It’s like all your experience went to a dog! What rotten luck! You’ve completely ruined my good mood!"
As he spoke, Ning Xuan put away his rocking chair and walked straight past Lin Changsheng toward the exit.
Lin Changsheng remained hunched over, not daring to breathe. He held that posture long after Ning Xuan had disappeared from sight.
As for Ning Xuan, he swaggered out of the Lin Family’s estate unhindered. He struck down anyone foolish enough to get in his way. By the time he left, several more corpses littered the Lin Family grounds.
When Lin Changsheng found out, he grew even more anxious. In a fit of rage, he expelled the direct relatives of those Ning Xuan had just slain from the Lin Family.
The sky gradually darkened. As night fell, two figures suddenly appeared before the Lin Family’s main gate: a young man and a stooped, hunchbacked elder.
The two guards at the gate had barely moved when the young man spoke. "Have your family head come out and meet me."
His voice was soft, yet it carried an authority that permitted no refusal.
The guards looked at him, then at the hunchbacked elder, and both sneered.
"Who do you think you are?!"
"Exactly! What makes you so important?"
The hunchbacked elder’s eyes flashed with murderous intent.
As the two guards shivered involuntarily, the young man spoke again. "Go tell him his creditor has arrived."
