Chapter 432: Heiren and Quizen
Chapter 432: Heiren and Quizen
Coco’s eyes slowly flickered back to reality, her hazy mind gradually becoming aware of her surroundings.
She found herself lying on the bed, in her bedroom, the familiar feeling of the soft fabric against her skin and the warmth of the covers enveloping her body.
With a yawn, she lifted her head a little and squinted at her surroundings, her sight still slightly blurry from sleep.
It took her a moment to adjust to the brightness, her brain still clouded with the remnants of dreams and slowly, as Coco sat up, her mind quickly replayed the events of the previous night.
The memory of Alhai’s sudden confession in the music room flooded her thoughts which she soon found herself thinking back to the surprising moment.
Her heart skipped a beat as she recalled the details of the scene.
Alhai’s tears, words, and the expression on his face, the atmosphere of the room— it all seemed to come vividly alive in her mind’s eye.
She let out a soft sigh, her fingers fidgeting with the bedsheets as the emotions from that moment came flooding back because the emotions at the time were mixed up so it was hard to focus on just one.
Coco’s frown deepened as she continued to reflect on Alhai’s unexpected confession.
The memory of his cold, arrogant demeanor, and the way he had cursed and mockingly insulted her in the past was still fresh in her mind.
It was difficult to reconcile this version of Alhai with the one who had suddenly confessed his feelings out of the blue.
She shifted uncomfortably in bed, her mind a whirlwind of conflicting emotions, and she couldn’t help, but wonder if his feelings were genuine or if it was all just some sick joke to him.
However, he had assured everyone last night that he was sincere with his confession, right?
Coco let out a deep sigh as she rose from the bed, her movements mechanical and lacking her usual enthusiasm that she has every morning.
She went through the motions of her morning routine almost like a robot, her body instinctively following the familiar steps without much thought or feeling.
There was a sense of emptiness and detachment in her actions as she washed her face, brushed her teeth, bathed herself, picked her clothes for the day, and dressed herself.
The thoughts and emotions swirling through her mind obviously numbed her of her usual energy and motivation.
Then, Coco slowly left her bedroom, leaving the door slightly ajar behind her.
Her habit of closing the door after Lala and Konoha had walked behind her was absent, a clear sign of the distracted mental state that had settled over her.
She also didn’t wake any of the two because she felt like doing everything alone.
She made her way down the hallway, her footsteps silent and her expression distant, her thoughts still consumed by Alhai’s confession, making it difficult for her to fully pay attention to her surroundings.
As Coco entered the kitchen, the delightful aromas of breakfast wafted through the air, filling her senses and enticing her appetite to appear.
Her gaze quickly scanned the room, searching for the source of the delicious smells.
Her eyes fell upon only Quizen and Heiren, diligently working together on the breakfast preparation— Heiren cooking something on the pan with Quizen making a drink.
The sight of just the two of them working in the kitchen was a little unexpected and she couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow in curiosity because four of her husbands would usually be at the kitchen at this time of morning.
Coco’s gaze scanned the kitchen once more, her eyebrows furrowing in slight puzzlement, her eyes flicked around, searching for any sign of Alhai and Zaque.
She glanced at the table, expecting to find them sitting there, engaged in their usual banter, but to her surprise, no sign of either one was visible.
A frown adorned her face and her confusion deepened as one question lingered.
Where are they?
Coco knew that her questions wouldn’t be answered unless she asked a question so she cleared her throat, drawing the attention of Quizen and Heiren.
They turned to face her, their eyes wide in surprise.
They didn’t expect her to be up just yet— she did say last night that she wasn’t in the mood to leave early for the guild in the morning.
Heiren still smiled warmly even though he was confused, acknowledging her presence.
"Good morning." He greeted her with a small smile.
Quizen nodded, a subtle smile on his face as well. "Good morning, wife.. How was your sleep?"
The blue haired mediator’s gaze flickered towards her for a brief moment before he returned his focus back to the drink he was making for her.
Coco moved over to her usual seat, sliding onto the chair gracefully and cleared her throat again.
"It was good.." She answered, staring at Quizen’s back.
With her settling into her seat, her thoughts were still puzzled by the absence of the others, the sight of only Quizen and Heiren working in the kitchen alone made her speak up again.
She glanced at them, their focus firmly fixed on their current tasks, but her voice, tinged with curiosity, broke the silence as she voiced her query.
"Where are the others, by the way?"
Heiren set a generous portion of food on a plate and carried it up to the table, placing it carefully in front of Coco.
"Everyone left early today— even before the sun could rise to the sky." He explained. "They mentioned they had something important to take care of.. And yes, that included Zaque and even Alhai, unfortunately."
His words were delivered as friendly as he could, not wanting to upset Coco.
She was forced to take in different information last night and he’s sure that she still hasn’t recovered from the shock.. The last thing he wants is for her to overthink.
"You can tell what you wanted to say last night once they get back."
