Chapter 404: What’s your type? [4]
"What did you do?" Alhai asked Coco as soon as she walked inside the house, his face blank and unamused.
Coco blinked and pointed at herself. "Me?"
"No, Coco." Alhai forced himself to not roll his eyes at her. "I was talking to the door."
"Why would you talk— oh, it was a sarcastic remark." Coco mumbled, feeling slightly embarrassed because she didn’t catch the sarcasm right away.
"Yes, it was." Alhai stated and raised an eyebrow. "Now, are you going to tell me why the three of them looked deeply upset after having some alone time with you?"
"Why would you blame me?" Coco retorted back, huffing. "What if they were indeed upset, but not because of me?"
Coco knew that she was spouting bullshits, but who cares? The tone Alhai was using on her made her feel slightly offended because it was as if he was talking to nothing, but a mere child.
Is she being childish? Probably, but she doesn’t really care.
"They don’t stay this upset unless it was that person that actually was the cause." Alhai countered back, crossing his arms with his lips curling down further.
"Oh.. Well, I don’t know what you mean." Coco mumbled, finally closing the door behind her.
"You do." Alhai insisted and took a step forward, making Coco flinch and take a step back towards the door, her back gently tapping against the wooden surface.
"You just don’t want to say it." The mediator stated, a matter-of-fact tone edging his voice.
"Yeah, that’s because I’m not supposed to tell you yet— okay, okay, okay!" Coco wanted to tell him off, but she quickly changed her words when he leaned forward and pressed his palm beside her head, trapping her in front of him.
Their position is quite.. Promising.
"I get it, okay?" Coco said, her face feeling a little warmer than earlier. "You have to push me and corner me like this! What if the others sees you and get at me?"
Alhai is a very attractive mediator, slim, but has enough muscle on his body— on the right places, too.
So, seeing him this close made Coco feel some something.
Unbeknownst to her, if they did find her in this promisimg position with Alhai, they would indeed get mad, but not at her, alright.
Oh, no, they would get mad at the one who cornered her instead.
Alhai stared down at Coco, his teal colored eyes shining with a little mischief, the reaction Coco gave him made his confidence boost up a bit.
"So?" Alhai hummed, leaning down and bringing his face closer to Coco’s, his other hand shooting up and planting on the other side of Coco’s head, completely trapping her between his arms. "Are you going to tell me or are we going to stay in this position until you do so?"
Coco’s heart is now hammering inside her chest.
Her breath got caught in her throat, her palms getting sweaty and her hands instinctively planting on Alhai’s chest, just staying there as if she was going to push him off.
Just what kind of situation is this? Coco wondered, her mind failing to come up with better thoughts.
She can feel her neck getting warmer which soon travelled up to her face, her cheeks being the warmest out of all her body parts.
"I.. I— do.. Don’t.. Know..?" Coco managed to stammer out, her eyes blown wide and mind malfunctioning, her thoughts scrambling all over the place, unable to form single comprehensive sentence. "I can’t just.. Just— say— it.."
Alhai’s gaze shifted from Coco’s down to her lips, parted and seemingly.. Enticing him.
"Well.." He brought his attention up to her eyes again and cleared his throat, feeling strangely hot for some unknown reason. "I don’t hear any good reason for me to move from this position any time soon."
With the final words leaving his lips, he leaned closer to the point he could hear her quick breathing.
"Are you going to tell me?" Alhai mused, the corner of his lips quirking up into a smirk, loving the way Coco shut her mouth and let out a uncharacteristical squeak as she tried her best to back away from him.
Coco nodded her head frantically, heart beating so fast that she was so sure Alhai could hear it.
"Okay, okay, okay, just please—" She mumbled fervently, voice hushed into a whisper as she pushed him off, but her arms seemed like they lost their strength because Alhai barely budged.
Alhai felt a little bad so he leaned away, just a little, but still close enough to hear what she was saying.
"Is this enough?" He taunted her, lightheartedly.
"No, but don’t get closer, please!" She said, unintentionally hissing the words out accompanied with her hands curling into fists against his chest.
"No promises." Alhai hummed, raising an eyebrow. "So? What did you do?"
Coco swallowed the lump forming in her throat and took a deep breath in an attempt to calm her beating heart. "I didn’t.. Say or do anything bad."
"Hm, yes, I’m sure you didn’t." Alhai nodded his head, still doubting her answer.
"I only asked them what their type was." Coco continued, ignoring the sarcastic remark from the mediator before her. "Since I’m done achieving what I wanted from this city.."
"What you wanted from this city?" Alhai repeated, quite confused as to what she meant.
"With me passing the licensing examination and all, you know? So then, I though that, maybe, just maybe— it was time for me to help the four of you find the perfect person to take my place." Coco murmured, her eyes darting downward to look at her hands.
Alhai felt his stomach churn, his face going black.
"But yeah.. I received no answer from the three of them." She frowned, pulling her hands away from his chest. "I was going to ask you later, but since we’re already here—"
"Don’t." Alhai spoke up, cutting her off. "Don’t even try to finish that sentence of yours."
