Emily and Elordi’s First Step
Emily and Elordi’s First Step
Elordi had been thinking about his feelings for Emily for weeks, but it wasn’t until a quiet evening in the park, with the sun setting over the trees, that he gathered the courage to tell her. They were sitting on a bench overlooking the lake, the sky a wash of pink and gold as he turned to her, his heart pounding.
“Emily,” he began, his voice soft but steady. “There’s something I’ve been wanting to tell you.”
She looked up, her eyes widening slightly as she sensed the weight in his tone. “What is it?”
He took a deep breath, feeling the fear and excitement rise within him. “I know we’ve been friends forever, and I don’t want to ruin that. But lately, I’ve felt… something more. I can’t keep pretending it’s not there. I think I have feelings for you.”
Emily’s face softened, her own cheeks flushing as she looked away. “Elordi… I’ve felt the same way. I was just scared to say anything.”
The relief in his expression was immediate, and they shared a quiet laugh, both feeling the nervous excitement of the moment. Slowly, tentatively, he leaned in, and she met him halfway.

The next evening, Emily and Elordi decided to invite their friends to the same park, where they all often hung out by the picnic tables and fire pit. Emily had insisted on a casual gathering, with no hint that anything big would be shared, but her excitement and nervousness were barely hidden beneath her calm expression. Elordi, on the other hand, was grinning from ear to ear, his confidence a comforting reminder of why she had fallen for him.
When they arrived, Hanna, Jacob, and a few others were already there, laughing and chatting as they passed around bags of chips and sodas. As Emily and Elordi joined the circle, Hanna was the first to notice something different between them. Her eyes flicked between them, curiosity sparking as she took in the way Elordi’s hand lingered near Emily’s back, their fingers brushing every so often as they exchanged small glances.
“Alright, what’s going on?” Hanna asked with a knowing smile, nudging Emily. “You two look like you’ve got a secret.”
Emily’s cheeks flushed, and she glanced at Elordi, who gave her an encouraging nod. Taking a deep breath, Emily stepped forward and looked around at her friends, her face glowing with excitement.
“Actually… we do have a bit of news,” she said, her voice shy but filled with happiness. She reached for Elordi’s hand, and he took it immediately, lacing their fingers together.
Everyone’s eyes widened in surprise, the realization dawning across each face as they took in the unmistakable closeness between Emily and Elordi. Hanna’s mouth fell open in surprise, while Jacob let out a low whistle, grinning.
“No way!” Jacob said, clapping his hands. “You two? Finally?”
Elordi chuckled, giving Emily’s hand a gentle squeeze. “Yeah, finally. We figured it was about time.”
The group burst into laughter and cheers, their friends standing to congratulate them one by one. Hanna threw her arms around Emily, pulling her into a tight hug. “I knew it!” she whispered, beaming. “I’m so happy for you, Emily.”
“Thanks, Hanna,” Emily replied, her voice choked with emotion. “I didn’t know how you’d all react, but… I think it’s worth the risk.”
“Are you kidding?” Jacob laughed, patting Elordi on the back. “Everyone saw this coming except you two.”
Elordi laughed, his arm now wrapped around Emily’s shoulders. “Guess we just needed a push.”
The group’s joy was infectious, each friend offering their own congratulations and jokes about how long they’d all suspected something was going on between Emily and Elordi. They toasted with soda cans and dug into the snacks, sharing memories of all the times they’d caught Emily and Elordi sharing a look, or how they’d sometimes been the only two left talking long after everyone else had gone home.
As the night wore on, Hanna found herself watching them from a distance, her heart warm yet aching. She was truly happy for them—no one deserved it more than Emily and Elordi. But seeing the way they laughed together, the glances they shared, reminded her of what she’d had with Finn, the closeness that had once made her feel like the luckiest girl in the world. Now, watching her friends embrace the happiness she had once dreamed of, she couldn’t help but feel a pang of longing.
Emily noticed and slipped away from Elordi’s side to stand beside her. “You okay?”
Hanna forced a smile, nodding. “Of course. You two look perfect together. It just makes me miss… what Finn and I had.”
Emily wrapped an arm around her shoulders. “You’ll have that again, Hanna. When the time is right.”
Hanna looked at her friend’s joyful face, feeling a renewed sense of hope. “Thanks, Emily,” she whispered, hugging her tightly.
