Never Just Friends

A Night of Weakness

A Night of Weakness

The evening felt colder than usual as Hanna stood outside Elordi’s house, the weight of the last few days still bearing heavily on her. She had barely spoken to Finn since their brief encounter in the library, and the silence between them felt like an insurmountable wall. Elordi, however, had been persistent, urging her to focus on the task at hand. It was hard to ignore the sense of uncertainty creeping into her mind. Was this the right path? Was aligning herself with Elordi truly the solution, or was it just a desperate attempt to regain control over a situation that was spiraling out of her grasp?

Inside the house, the atmosphere was tense but expectant. Elordi had offered her a drink, but she had declined. Her thoughts were too clouded, too tangled in the mess she had created. She had always been a fighter, but lately, she couldn’t tell where the fight was taking her—or if it was worth the cost.

“Let’s go over the plan again,” Elordi said, sitting across from her with his usual smirk. He was dressed casually, his eyes calculating, always measuring her, analyzing her every move. She had to admit, there was something about him that made her feel both uneasy and drawn to him.

Hanna nodded, trying to focus. “We need to expose Ciara for good. Whatever she’s planning next, we have to be ahead of her.”

Elordi’s eyes gleamed as he leaned forward, the distance between them shrinking. “Exactly. You’ve got the evidence. Now we just need to make sure it lands in the right hands. The people who matter. The people who won’t let her slither out of this.”

Her stomach churned as she looked at him. She could feel the pull between them—the unspoken connection that had been growing ever since they started working together. But something was off. Elordi wasn’t doing this out of the kindness of his heart, and the closer they got, the more she could feel the weight of his intentions. There was something dangerous in the way he looked at her, something that made her skin crawl and her heart race in equal measure.

“You’re stronger than you think,” Elordi said suddenly, his voice lower now, husky, as his hand brushed against hers. The touch was light, but it sent a jolt through her.

Her breath hitched, and she quickly pulled her hand away, her pulse quickening. “I should go,” she said, her voice shaky despite her best efforts to sound firm. She had to get out of here. She didn’t need to be tangled up in whatever Elordi was trying to pull her into.

Elordi’s expression faltered for just a moment, a flicker of disappointment passing through his gaze before he masked it with a smirk. “Sure,” he said casually, leaning back in his chair. “But just remember, you don’t have to do this alone. I’ve got your back.”

Hanna stood up quickly, her movements tense. “Thanks,” she muttered, avoiding his eyes as she made her way to the door.

But as she reached for the handle, she hesitated. A part of her, the part that was still so lost and unsure, wanted to stay. It wasn’t just the plan, or the truth she was fighting for. It was him. The pull between them was undeniable, and in that moment, she couldn’t ignore the spark that had ignited earlier. She wanted to push it away, to remind herself that she was doing this for Finn, for herself. But the uncertainty in her heart made it difficult to think clearly.

With a final glance back at Elordi, she opened the door and stepped out into the cold night air.

The door clicked shut behind her, but as Hanna walked to her car, she couldn’t shake the feeling that something had shifted. The adrenaline from earlier had faded, leaving her feeling exposed. Elordi’s words echoed in her mind, but so did the image of Finn’s face when he’d pulled away from her.

As she drove home, her thoughts were a tangled mess of confusion. She had just crossed a line with Elordi, one she wasn’t sure she could uncross. And now, she wasn’t sure which path to follow anymore. The danger of the situation felt more real than ever, but so did the undeniable attraction she felt toward Elordi, the thrill of being caught in the storm.

Her pulse quickened again as she thought about him, and despite the unease swirling in her chest, she couldn’t help but wonder what would happen if she let herself go. Let herself fall into the dangerous territory that Elordi seemed to thrive in.

The deeper she went, the more she feared there might be no coming back.
