Chapter 131: I Was Forced, Let Alone Adoration

Chapter 131: I Was Forced, Let Alone Adoration

"I suspect you’re lying, or maybe you’re deliberately hiding something.

To you humans, Chu He should be your last hope, shouldn’t he?

So, you must admire him deep down, right?"

The woman with curly golden hair said, "You humans are so cunning. The intelligence we in the Blood Race gathered indicated that your relationship with Chu He was one to the death, yet here you are, cooperating behind our backs."

"I’m not cooperating with him! I already told you, I was forced! And there’s certainly no admiration to speak of.

Why on earth would I admire Chu He?"

Xiao Cangqing suddenly became extremely agitated.

The golden-haired woman’s words had clearly struck a raw nerve, touching upon the most shameful part of his inner self.

It was as if she were saying that Xiao Cangqing feared Chu He.

This was an affront his dignity could not accept. Even if it was the truth, you couldn’t just say it out loud!

"Are you trying to use this anger and agitation to hide what you’re really thinking?"

The golden-haired woman suddenly flicked her wrist, and in the blink of an eye, several more blood-red nails shot straight into Xiao Cangqing’s body.

Xiao Cangqing calmed down instantly, letting out a pained wail.

"Tell me the truth. Just how much has Chu He’s strength improved?"

The golden-haired woman stopped what she was doing. Gazing at Xiao Cangqing’s blood-soaked form, she asked again.

"I told you, I really don’t know.

The intelligence you gathered was correct. My relationship with Chu He is one to the death."

Xiao Cangqing said weakly, his voice full of pain.

"I don’t believe you."

The golden-haired woman beckoned with her hand.

The dozens of nails embedded in Xiao Cangqing’s body were forcibly ripped out, only to be plunged back in again.

"ARGGGHHH!"

Even the Mysterious Power within Xiao Cangqing’s body seemed to feel the agony.

It rampaged through his insides like an unbridled wild stallion, multiplying the pain from the blood-red nails dozens of times over.

"Are you going to talk or not?"

"I really don’t know!"

"Still not talking."

"Ah, ah, ahhh..."

...

Chu He returned to the manor in the Great Xia Empire.

Chu He had left a small cluster of golden flames inside Galava’s body.

This cluster of golden flames was under Chu He’s perfect control.

It posed no danger to Galava’s body, but it could firmly suppress the Mysterious Power within him.

Furthermore, because his body had been invaded by an extremely powerful Mysterious Power and the Elemental Power he’d cultivated was nearly depleted, the current Galava was only a tiny bit stronger than an ordinary person.

Chu He tossed Galava directly into the special secret chamber beneath the manor, the one he had once used for his own cultivation.

"Write down all the information you have in your head."

Chu He had placed many notebooks and black gel pens in the secret chamber.

"Okay."

Galava had no choice but to obediently comply.

He could only hope that the White Elephant Empire would receive news of his situation soon and pressure the Great Xia Empire,

which would force Chu He to release him.

But until then, Galava would do exactly as Chu He had instructed.

He was a smart man; he would never risk his own life.

Galava picked up a brand-new notebook, took out a black gel pen, and began to work diligently.

When Chu He vanished from the secret chamber, Galava finally relaxed a little.

...

When Chu He appeared back in the manor,

he found his parents, Chu Donglai and Yang Xiaochun, chatting with his older and younger sisters.

From the looks of it, it seemed they were in the middle of a small argument.

The family had long since grown accustomed to Chu He’s uncanny ability to appear and disappear out of thin air.

Upon seeing Chu He, their faces all lit up with pleasant surprise.

"Chu He, when did you get back?" his younger sister shot up and pulled over a chair.

"Mind your manners. That’s your older brother."

The older sister gently patted the younger one’s head, her tone mildly reproachful.

"I know, I know. It’s just because I’m so close with him. Brother won’t mind, right?"

The younger sister stuck out her tongue playfully.

Chu He shook his head with a helpless smile.

They had spent a fair bit of time together now, and his younger sister, who had been rather reserved at first, had become much more carefree.

This was a good thing, though.

Chu He had never experienced the warmth of a family before, and he quite enjoyed the feeling.

"DING!

Host’s current situation detected. After being so busy for so long, it’s time to sit down, relax, and experience ordinary life.

Complete the mission to receive the reward: Heaven-Swallowing Demon Technique.

Mission failure: No penalty."

Just as Chu He sat down, took a glass of juice, and was about to take a sip,

the system’s notification echoed in his mind.

Chu He couldn’t help but sigh in his heart. ’A long-lost "do-nothing" quest for a reward has finally appeared again.’

’Still, the system is right. I really have had a lot on my plate recently.’

It was perfect timing for the system to issue such a laid-back quest.

It was a chance to earn a reward and properly relax.

"So, what were you guys talking about?" Chu He asked, taking a sip of the cool juice.

"Brother, here’s what happened.

Dad’s side of the family suddenly wants to hold a gathering. They’re insisting that Mom and Dad attend, and they want all five of us to go."

The younger sister pouted.

She then explained the whole story. "Based on what I know of those relatives, they must have heard about your reputation, Brother. They want to come suck up to you and ask for some favors.

Otherwise, they never would have visited us on holidays back in the day."

"Sigh..." Chu Donglai let out a breath. He knew full well this was the case.

"Dad, do you want to go?" Chu He asked.

"Is there even a need to ask? Your father definitely wants to go.

The thing he loves most in this life is trying to get friendly with people who give him the cold shoulder."

Yang Xiaochun said, displeased. "Is there really any deep bond left between him and his siblings?"

’Why do people change so much when they grow up?’

’When we were little, we’d go catch shrimp in the river together. When someone’s family made something delicious, we’d all sneak a taste together.’

’We’d walk to school together with our backpacks, and we’d help our parents with the farm work together.’

Chu Donglai’s eyes grew slightly red.

Over the years, everyone else had changed. Only he remained, dwelling on memories of the past.

"If that’s the case, then let’s go," Chu He said lightly.

"We can’t just go! Your father’s relatives are obviously just looking for handouts. It’ll be nothing but trouble."

Yang Xiaochun disagreed.

"People need to have their illusions shattered. Just talking about it is useless."

Chu He smiled.

In reality, his father still held onto a sliver of fantasy about his siblings.

If that fantasy wasn’t forcibly shattered, his father would continue to cling to it forever.

Perhaps this time, they could finally put an end to it.

Chu Donglai was mortified, not expecting his son to see through him with a single glance.

Chu He, however, understood. Many people of the older generation grew more nostalgic as they aged, clinging to emotions and memories of the past.

...

「Several days later.」

A luxury minivan carrying Chu He’s family of five arrived at a five-star hotel in the Royal City of the Great Xia Empire.

In the largest private dining room, a crowd of Chu Donglai’s relatives was seated.

The moment Chu He walked into the room, a round of applause erupted.

"Congratulations to our Chu Clan for producing another great talent! This will surely be recorded in the family genealogy!"

The men, women, young, and old in the room all stood up, their faces flushed with excitement.
