Chapter 307

Naruto Time Control

Once.

She had been a brilliant young Jonin of Kirigakure, deeply trusted by the Fourth Mizukage. But while she was carrying out a routine mission, a meteorite had suddenly plummeted from the heavens toward her.

The youth who emerged from that fallen star had, in a single instant, shattered her perception of every other man. As they continued to cross paths, she became increasingly captivated by him.

Later.

Yeruashi had arrived in Kirigakure and engaged in a fierce battle with an unknown shinobi of the Uchiha Clan. The terrifying power he displayed had shocked Mei to her very core.

A short while after that, when she found herself in a desperate situation, Yeruashi had returned to Kirigakure and swatted the Fourth Mizukage aside like a helpless fledgling, making Mei's heart race with exhilaration.

Afterward.

Though she hadn't seen Yeruashi for a long time, she had continued to train tirelessly and grow stronger within the Hidden Mist. Gradually, she earned the respect of countless shinobi until she eventually rose to become the Fifth Mizukage.

By this time, Yeruashi's plan to unify the shinobi world was in full swing. Iwagakure had already fallen, leaving only Kirigakure standing. As the Mizukage, she felt it was her duty to minimize the village's casualties as much as possible, leading her to the decision to meet Yeruashi personally and negotiate the terms.

But no sooner had that decision been made than Urashiki appeared out of nowhere.

Whether it was the Anbu, Chojuro, or Ao, none could stand against Urashiki. They were driven into a corner, and Mei herself had already exhausted a massive amount of her chakra.

Just then.

A man appeared.

When Mei saw the figure stepping through the spatial rift, she felt only one thing... she wanted to be with this man!

As Mei and the other shinobi of the Hidden Mist gazed at Yeruashi's silhouette suspended in the sky, a cold glint flashed in the eyes of Urashiki, who stood opposite him.

"Amenosubaruboshinomikoto!"

Urashiki flicked his fishing rod violently, unleashing a dense torrent of red hooks that surged toward Yeruashi.

Yeruashi remained perfectly calm.

He drifted gracefully through the air, his hand tightening around the hilt of the Sword of Reincarnation. In the next heartbeat, his figure vanished.

Whoosh!

It was as if day had instantly surrendered to night.

Against the darkness of the sky, a brilliant golden radiance flashed, materializing behind Urashiki as the blade swept forward.

It was as if the entire world had frozen in place.

Shock was written clearly across Urashiki's face.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

In the space where Urashiki stood, a multitude of razor-thin lines stretched out as if across the surface of a mirror, forming a dense web.

These fine threads emitted no brilliant light, but the surrounding space looked like a pane of glass covered in a web of fractures!

This was... spatial distortion!

Pop!

Urashiki's body exploded into a cloud of red paper cranes that scattered in all directions. A moment later, his figure coalesced once more, far away from Yeruashi.

'So fast...'

'That speed...'

Urashiki's face was taut with tension.

It appeared as though he had managed to evade the attack, but upon closer inspection, trails of blood leaked from numerous cuts across his body.

If Urashiki hadn't been on high alert the moment Yeruashi attacked, his body would have likely been carved into countless tiny fragments by that strike!

A searing pain flared from the wounds on his body.

This burning, piercing sensation spread not only through his flesh but through his... soul!

'That attack...'

'If I had taken the full force of it, I would likely... already be dead!'

As he stared at Yeruashi, the mere tension in Urashiki's eyes quickly transformed into terror. In that brief exchange, he had felt the staggering chasm in their power.

How could he be this strong?!

Urashiki exhaled sharply and threw himself backward, vanishing into a black spatial rift that had just materialized behind him.

He chose to retreat without a moment's hesitation.

In truth, Urashiki could hardly be blamed. His understanding of Kaguya's strength was rooted in the distant past, and the growth of the God Tree here had been exceptionally successful because it had absorbed a massive amount of energy from the Dragon Veins of this world.

That God Tree had reached near-total maturity.

Yeruashi had no doubt that if the Sage of Six Paths and Hamura Otsutsuki hadn't sealed Kaguya, then after a thousand years of undisturbed development, those of the Otsutsuki Clan like Momoshiki, Kinvshiki, and Urashiki who pursued her would have been easily crushed one by one.

"..."

Yeruashi calmly watched Urashiki use Yomotsu Hirasaka to make his escape.

He opened a spatial portal of his own and stepped forward, immediately giving chase.

Urashiki's chakra was significantly stronger than the chakra Yeruashi had previously received from the Sage of Six Paths. His power likely hovered somewhere between the first and second stages of the Six Paths level; he might barely reach the second stage if he consumed enough chakra.

Though Yeruashi recalled that Urashiki hadn't seemed particularly formidable in the original story, as a pursuer of Kaguya, he was naturally quite powerful and possessed strength on the Six Paths level.

The mere aftershocks of a battle with such an opponent would be enough to level the entire Hidden Mist Village. Thus, Yeruashi never intended to fight him here from the start.

Whoosh!

He stepped into the spatial tunnel created by Yomotsu Hirasaka.

This dark dimension bore some resemblance to Kamui, but in reality, it was fundamentally different. A rift formed by Yomotsu Hirasaka could connect freely to any space, though the chakra consumption increased with the distance.

'A pursuit?'

Urashiki gritted his teeth as he felt Yeruashi closing in. His white eyes shifted, transforming into concentric circles.

The power Yeruashi had demonstrated in that brief clash convinced Urashiki that a close-quarters confrontation would result in his death in the blink of an eye. Without hesitation, he activated his Rinnegan and entered a state of Time Rewind.

This differed from Yeruashi's Reverse Time Flow.

Reverse Time Flow restored Yeruashi's own body to a previous state, whereas Time Rewind moved Urashiki several seconds into the past. It would be more accurate to call this ability 'Returning to the Past.'

This ability would be incredibly powerful—borderline absurd—if one could travel far enough back. Unfortunately, Urashiki could not; his limit was only a few seconds.

Silence.

Within that dark void, Urashiki and Yeruashi stared at each other for several seconds.

It seemed as though something had happened, yet simultaneously, nothing had happened at all.

Urashiki's expression shifted several times before he suddenly looked at Yeruashi with pure horror, as if witnessing a nightmare.

A wound had appeared on his body out of thin air.

'He's already traveled back in time...'

'But unfortunately, it makes no difference.'

Yeruashi quickly deduced the situation as he watched the scene unfold.

He chuckled and swung his blade toward Urashiki.

If Urashiki could return to the past across a significant duration, it would indeed be troublesome. But a few seconds were practically meaningless—even less effective than predicting the future.

While such an ability allows one to see what is coming and avoid it, returning to the past does not allow one to escape injuries already sustained.

A meaningless ability.
