Chapter 442 329: Prelude to the Great Expedition (Part 4)

This grand expedition held every century is merely a diversion orchestrated by the gods of this world.

However, after Xue Dili arrived, he saw that the Mystic Scholar, who had always remained distant, began preparing the teleportation ritual directly.

Xue Dili frowned, and the next moment, a weathered middle-aged man stepped out from the Teleportation Gate. Both the female pirate and the Archer looked at this weathered man in shock.

They all sensed that this was no human, but a Heroic Spirit!

This mystic scholar whom they barely knew has quietly summoned another Heroic Spirit!

"Apologies everyone, I won't be joining you in action. I have my own objectives; until we meet again!" He left directly with the weathered man, and Xue Dili did not stop them.

Indeed, the world has other remarkable individuals; Xue Dili realized that this Mystic Scholar didn't have a host, yet he bore a Heroic Spirit Contract and successfully avoided the mysterious contamination.

And now, these two Heroic Spirits, without a host to burden them, need not worry unless surrounded by the Demon Race.

"What should we do?" Lana asked Xue Dili.

Although she had read much about this war before the great expedition, upon truly arriving in the Land of Judgment, she felt lost as if she had lost her backbone, looking to Xue Dili.

"Miss Pirate, please protect Lana in the upcoming time. The Archer and I can act together." Xue Dili said.

"No problem," the female pirate agreed without concern over this grouping.

Xue Dili's separation isn't for this war, but rather for more investigation of the island.

He believes, this island, the site of countless Heroic Spirit battles, should at least hold partial intelligence about the Ninth Apostle and the mastermind behind this war.

He even suspects that beneath this island lies the Divine Tree, and whether it be the Death of a Heroic Spirit or the Death of a host, they may become nourishment for the Divine Tree.

He also intends not to act with the Archer but plans to investigate alone before the war commences, then decisively settle the great expedition within one night and control the Demon Race as war dawns.

He is confident his core strength stands strong in this world. If faced with truly troublesome opponents, Xue Dili might have to say sorry and prepare to unleash Zeus or Typhon.

Concerning the aftermath of unleashing Zeus and Typhon, Xue Dili can only apologize and try to prepare lubricant for the two great entities, minimizing harm.

His aim isn't to win the war, but to unveil the Apostle's Followers and end the world's manipulated plight.

"Miss Archer, I will act alone in this war; please prepare for remote scouting and surveillance for Lana and the others. If attacked, reveal yourself to assist them, or restrain the enemy and signal for aid; I will hurry to support you." Xue Dili said to the Archer beside him.

"No, how can you act alone? What if surrounded by the Demon Race?"

"I command you by contract, remain here, and be a Scout." Xue Dili calmly issued the first command, rendering Miss Archer's expression stiff.

Afterward, Xue Dili left alone just like the Mystic Scholar.

Upon leaving, he extended a small root into the island awash with sulfur and gas, examining its underground.

"Here lies two active volcanoes? No wonder there's sulfur and gas," Xue Dili spoke, while simultaneously, the Divine Tree's roots continued exploring in all directions, seeking information left by other Heroic Spirits, even desiring to know if the entire island below connects with the Apostle's Followers.

But sadly, the roots failed to return any useful intel.

Xue Dili had to continue expanding the roots as much as possible, eventually discovering a cave, and within, lay several skeletal remains.
